Title: Leather Meets Kydex!
Post by: NKlamerus on January 08, 2019, 03:39:04 AM
Wanted to switch out my Nylon sheath with something a little different. The 2018 Nylon factory sheath is just about the perfect sheath for me except getting the light in and out, and the Olight I3T EOS hasn't been my favorite light to carry.

May also carry my Wave more, it just doesn't feel as good in my hand.

I just wrapped the Kydex with a hair dryer, I want to carry this for the week and if it works I'll try something a little nicer.

It's held on with 3 pronged rivets and some jb weld to smooth them out on the inside so the tool slides better. Nice.  I've wanted to have a play with Kydex but so far I havent taken the step.  I like what you've done here.

So far I haven't had any issues!

I've only used the "medium" thickness (I think there's 3 usual sizes) and you can generally get a sheet of it for 4$ or so.

Only thing is be careful if you use an oven to heat it, room mates complained about the smell.

:tu: I'll keep that in mind.  I'd like to play with some.

Been almost 2 weeks now? I'm ready for an upgrade! I need a new Fenix as mine is flickering or not working unless I tap it hard on something, so for now I'm back to the nylon sheath.

I love everything else about the sheath, the Kydex is awesome, could easily do a sleeve in leather that would be a little more comfortable when it hits things. It's the factory Leatherman leather sheath that I see failing, I forgot to take it off when I was working on my truck and the corner got pretty scuffed.
