Title: Campingaz Globetrotter Conversion
Post by: Spork, Lord of Lime Jello! on January 23, 2014, 05:23:59 AM
The complete Globetrotter set is the stove, cooking pans/carrying case, handle and strap. It’s a neat little set, but the GT106 cartridges have not been produced for at least ten years. There seem to be a few of these floating around in good condition. I found this one on ebay…”only used once”

I saw this ideal on the Classic Stoves Forum…replacing the valve assembly with one from a cheap stove. Now the little Globetrotter can use the current standard threaded Lindal valve cartridges. The threads seem to be standard. I’ve tried the valve blocks from several different models including a Primus, and they all fit. The overall height of the stove is a bit less than the original when mounted on a 110g cartridge.

The cooking pans can also be used with a Svea 123.

Fantastic!  I have an old Camping Gaz lantern that I'd love to keep using.  Is there a set of instructions/parts list for a newbie?

I'm not sure Mr.Whippy. What model is it?

If you can unscrew the burner head from the valve/jet assembly, then it is as simple a screwing on the new one.

I got the smaller lantern in the mail today, a Bivouac 270. It looks like another easy conversion, although I still have a supply of CV cartridges.

I just tried with the lantern and it doesn't seem to work properly. I had some flames coming out the top and the the mantle didn't glow...perhaps there is a difference in the jets

I have an old (French) GAZ  Bleuet S 200 stove which requires piercable canisters that are no longer available.  Could you please clarify what I can do to modify the connector fitting so as to make it compatible with the canisters now commonly available?
Thanks

All I did was unscrew the the burner head assembly and put it onto a valve assembly taking threaded Lindal valve cartridges. I don't think it will work with a S200 because the pot supports are attached to the valve block and rest on the cartridge cover. It might work with an S206, but I don't have one of those either to confirm it.
