hey guys.
After a bit of spring cleaning, my father found a SAK that he thinks belonged to his father from back in africa. The logo itself doesnt look like a victorinox or wenger make. He also thinks it is definately from before 1970. Here are some pictures

other than the sentimental value, it has no value. I have seen those given away before. they are garbage made in ChiCom.

I had one in 89/90 but I'm sure they've been churned out for years :)

Found one of those of unknown age around the house. The exact same thing. You can rotate the tools all the backwards, the backsprings are like putty.

Like others have mentioned its not Swiss made but I think its great that you got your grandfather's pocket knife. I know I'd be made up to have my Grandad's knife the make would be irrelevant.

While the knife in and of itself may basically be crap (it really really is) that is totally irrelevant to it's meaning. Honestly, considering it's sentimental value I'd keep and care for it the same as any old rare Victorinox.

Everybody is right. It is a chinese POS knife. In fact, it is SO bad as a knife, it wouldn't even make a good club!! :o

I agree with this completely. Sentimental value is really important regardless of the value of the item.
My grandmother died just before I moved out to New Zealand. She left me a bit of money and a small model owl made from sea shells that I used to play with when I was young. Now that Owl is a ragged, beaten up piece of crap. But to me its one of the most important things in the world cus it reminds me of her.
I'm glad you've got something of your Grandfather's that means something to you pal :tu:

Thanks for all the help guys :) I am definately not going to sell it, i just wanted to know if it was one of the two SAK makes. My initial feeling was that it was a fake, but I'm still in amazed that i have it :)

My grandad's penknife, which is now mine :D
Materialistically its worth very little; Richards were the most common brand of cheap pocket knives over here for many years. But that really isn't the point is it :)
The picture on the front has about worn away but I'm guessing it originally showed HMS Victory.

Nice one Neil, reminds me very much of my first pocket knife (except mine had wooden scales) long gone now sadly. :-\
