If the inside edge of the can opener was to be sharpened, it would work as a package opener.
Would it eventually dull from opening cans? Maybe, if you open cans often enough. :think:

Already did that. If you are handy with a dremel I recommend it! :tu:
And I don't see why it would dull. That bit doesn't touch the can.

Did it on both sides, and its sharpest at the very tip(enough to bluntly cut paper). I could have made it sharper all along, but I'm happy.
Be careful not to touch the lip or something with the dremel, you'll end up with a tiny shiny spot. :rofl:
