Title: Elinox freebies to Germany
Post by: T14 on June 17, 2019, 10:29:08 PM
Howdy folks.

I am in a pickle and need help from a german resident. The help will cost you nothing, take less than two minutes of your time, and will net you two elinox knives free of charge.

The backstory:
I impulse bid on a small elinox lot without checking the shipping restrictions first.
The seller is unable or unwilling to communicate with me to resolve the matter. So I need a german shipping address in order to complete the transaction.

The deal:
You pm me your german postal address, which I use to complete my transaction. I pay for the goods and you get to keep them.

Please help  :ahhh

That's really unfortunate for you. Shame the seller doesn't want to solve the problem with you. I'm form the netherlands so I'm not able to help you. But I justed wanted to say you are doing a very noble thing to pay for the tools without getting them and gift them to someone else. May good things happen to you.

Wow - That is a very, very generous offer T14 - Thanks for this
- And what an unhelpful ebay seller  :twak:
- I wish I lived in Germany ....

Wait a minute - I have German rellies - If no MTo members show up here I could get them sent there
Note: This would be a last resort - Just to resolve the situation

EDIT: And Germany to Denmark? ......  It's really not that hard - eh?   ???   You are land neighbours and both in the EU - So no customs complications     :pok:

Both are fine chaps who relayed stuff through Germany to me before.

Give them a shout if they don't seem to end up in here.

The support and generosity of this community is overwhelming.  :hatsoff:

I have gotten more help than I can make use of.

I have asked for a new invoice with an updated german address and hopefully my woes will be resolved shortly.

My gratitude to one and all who chimed in.

Update:

Well that went south quickly.

The seller sent me an invoice for local pickup only with no possibility to change the shipping options

I give up.  :-\ For sake of completeness here are the messages I have sent over the last week. The only responses I have gotten are invoices that I could not complete due to shipping restrictions. He never bothered to respond to anything in writing.

Quote
message 1:
Dear sir. I forgot to check restrictions on shipping before bidding. I do apologize for the inconvenience. If you cannot ship to Denmark, I am willing to pay the bidding price anyway and not get the item. Please regard this gesture as an apology for my mistake.
Best Regards T

message 2:
Dear sir. Thank you for the invoice but Ebay still will not let me complete the transaction due to your shipping restriction. Would you be willing to grant me an exception to this restriction? Please also refer to my last message to you. And again. I realize that this inconvenience is entirely my fault, and I sincerely apologize about the inconvenience caused.
Best regards T

message 3
Dear sir. Please update the invoice to payment with Paypal and shipping within germany. I apologize for any inconvenience this process has caused.
Best regards T

message 4.
I have decided to pay the invoice and not get the item. I hereby donate them back to you. Do with them as you wish.
Best regards T

at least he spared me the monetary expense of shipping costs.
I realize that the initial mistake is mine alone. I have tried to be as polite as the situation warrants.

So my feedback is now in jeopardy, and I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.  :ahhh
Meh  ???

well on the bright side is I'm pretty sure ebay does not let a seller leave negative feedback anymore:

From ebay faq:

Why are sellers allowed to leave only positive Feedback for buyers?

Sellers used to be able to leave negative Feedback for buyers. Unfortunately, we found that when buyers had bad experiences with sellers, they were often reluctant to leave neutral or negative Feedback out of fear that the seller would retaliate by leaving negative Feedback for them. And when buyers did receive unfair negative Feedback, they usually decreased their shopping on eBay. Overall, it became clear that the fear of retaliatory negative Feedback made it more difficult for good sellers to distinguish themselves from not-so-good sellers, and made the Feedback system as a whole less reliable

I like how AirBnB does it: you can't see the other's feedback until you have posted yours.

Well. I do not intend to leave negative feedback either. I will just not leave feedback at all.

The initial mistake was mine alone, and the seller is under no obligation to fix my mistakes.

c'est la vie.  :dunno:

Some unscrupulous sellers found a way around that limitation.

I had a seller who reneged on a sale after he realised his buy-it-now price was lower than he could get as an auction, but he wouldn't send the tool or refund my money.  I complained to ebay who did nothing, so I left honest -ve feedback, he responded by leaving feedback that was officially rated as +ve but the words were very derogatory (and untrue).  I complained to ebay again, and they removed his feedback.

I did eventually get my money back but it left a very sour taste.

I´m late to the party, but I did help out members here before and I´m sure a pocket knife can get to Denmark from here...
I sent to Honkong, Brasil, UK, Portugal, New Zealand and Australia, the Americas and some places I don´t remember...
Shipping costs have raised since sending merchandise as a letter is no longer allowed, but if the thread starter or someoen else runs into that problem, feel free to contact me.
I do warn you that the items mayfloat around here readily packed for a few weeks as I tend to sink under in family an Job chaos, but the stuff will get to you in the end.

I’m from Spain, couldn’t help you this time, but if anyone needs my my help don’t hesitate.

I recently helped a German college in the same situation. After winning an auction from a Spanish seller, this doesn’t send abroad so I played as man in the middle giving my address to receive it.

It was a nice 84mm rarity:
