2018 is here so let's get going on next years calendar.

Post your favorite pics taken this month of multi-tools, knives, edc stuff etc. and label them with a title :tu:

I use linux and have lots of choices including GIMP however have not used them very much. I could also use the canon software under windows 7 but have not looked at that at all.

Take some time and play around with it a bit. I try to stay away from the preset filters and manually adjust light, color , contrast etc.

I like the photo, but judging by your other pics I think you could have done better. The DOF is slightly off, e.g. the toothpick isn´t sharp. I would also try to avoid any reflections in the scale.

Will check out a couple of programs for enhancing photos. Also cropping a bit might be good.

I have a tripod on order and should get it at the end of the week. That may also clean things up a bit.

A couple of questions that come up is with regards to the resolution of the photos? Firstly are you usually shooting in the camera's highest quality then dropping the resolution in software? Also what is the best resolution to use for the forum?

The forum software automatically resizes but if someone quotes your pic it will show full size which is not good for viewing plus it screws up the whole page you are viewing. If you use the attachment feature it has to be a under a certain size to upload.

Tried converting my pic to a pdf and it posted but it looks like crap. I'm unsure of the problem... using jpeg, under 1024KB... the pics were HD but I saved them down smaller, never had an issue doing this before. :shrug:

After days of dark and wet weather, days of sunshine but having a serious case of stomach flu, I finally got the opportunity to take some pics today.

I'm stuck at home with pes anserine bursitis, which is an inflammatory condition of the medial (inner) knee at the anserine bursa, a sub muscular bursa, just below the pes anserinus. I normal language this means a couple of tendons on the inner side of my knee are inflamed from overuse, thanks to my job for which I have to run/walk about 20km a day, while pulling/pushing trains of trolleys (don't know the exact name of the bloody things in English). Thanks to this problem I can't leave the house for a hike since I need to rest, go to the physiotherapist, rest, go to the physiotherapist, rest ... you get the picture (no pun intended).

Enough about that, here's my entry for Januari on the MTO 2019 Calendar:

P.S.: First multitool pic with my new Nikon (after years of service my trusty Canon EOS400D developed some issues ... so I had to find a successor).

That doesn´t matter. Clicking on your pic will open the photo full screen. Which is much smaller than 6000 x 4000, usually, so your pic will show in a lower resolution anyway. For the internet, 1200 x 800 is adequate. Of course you should keep the hi res versions for inclusion in the calendar.

Even the small size setting on my camera is much larger than 1200x800... So it seems taking hi res then resizing is the way to go, especially if I'm planning on cropping or printing.
