Edit:
And they are free :)

Edit 2:
Yellow scales, quite unusual as well :P

This stinks. The knife is free, but only one per person and you need a photo ID to pick it up.

But if an industrious person had a large family that didn't want the knives for themselves...

Cool idea, but I'm not going to be anywhere near London on those dates.

I guess I picked the perfect time to go to London! I just made my design, but I looks I like I can edit until I actually pick it up. Hopefully pics on the way. :gimme:

I submitted my design.
I have a sister-in-law in London, so she's gonna pick it up and brought it to me when she came here in August.

Really cool to personalize your SAK like this.
For us outside england and not so lucky: if you order cellidor scales from swiss-knife.com in Europe, they will print it for free with your own text.  Shipping is not really cheap, but at least it is something to stop the bleeding.  :D

Very cool if you're down that way.  Alas, the petrol/train fare would make it a very expensive free SAK for me :)

...the...train fare would make it a very expensive free SAK for me :)

I can't believe this. Our media and environmentalists are constantly telling us to build more passenger rail because everyone in Europe is traveling all over their countries for nearly nothing.

They wouldn't lie, would they? ???

Guess :)

To be fair, if its just you travelling and you book the tickets in advance the train down to London is cheaper than on the road.  However if you want to take the family it works out cheaper in a car.

Many years back when I was single travelling round the country on the train made economic sense, these days I'm much better off driving.

My cousin went yesterday to pick up my personalized sak, but they told her that they were still doing the requested design and that they are going to mail it to her as soon as they finish it.

Full credit to the staff dealling with the freebees, they were awesome. The security guy was very cool, but the gy actually selling SAKs...well he should have been small, blue and wearing a floppy hat!

They have done mine on the spot so i guess it was lucky. But they refused to do another one despite me having my wife's ID with me. "In person only" according to the lady who helped me.

Here is my discreet design. I asked for my Yeosawl to be engraved instead of the free spartan.

Hey Kirk13,

That's the engraving I requested but on yellow scales, at least I thinki did - the order process was a bit weird IMO?!

Anyway, I'm popping in to the store tomorrow to see if it's there. Still can't believe it's all free!

Regards, Jon.

Very nice, how come they put the design on the back, is this something you specified.

Not enough room on the front ;)

There is more room on the front, no cut out for the corkscrew.

If they stick my design on the back a lot of the writing will be gone as I designed it on the front. Unless there was an option to flip the knife over I did not see.

Yeh I agree about the order process!I think some bright spark in thier marketing dept thought it would be a good way to promote thie rnew engraving service.I rather think they got over loaded on demand for it though, hence the need to mail order things. At least they honoured the offer, and didnt put any conditions on it.Good luck for tomorrow!

It would have been nice if they had used scales with the Shield on the back, leaving more spce on the front.I can only guess that would have cost more?Or perhaps its because the services offer in the engraving are limited?

Just left the store now.
Quite frankly wish I had not bothered.
Staff were a rude and dismissive. One gentleman starting serving me and when I queried wether the front could be etched as the knife on there website had its front etched, just said I don't think it did sir then turned his back and starting dealing with the person behind me.
So I was left standing there with my card in my hand. After then waiting for the other assistant to finish with a customer I started speaking to her and handed her the card  she turned her back and walked off with out saying a word and started chatting to another assistant on the other side of the shop floor.

I wish I had gone to work.

I must say I'm kinda with you. It wasn't a great experience, I didn't personally have an issue with the staff but I'm a bit disappointed at the fact I couldn't have yellow scales even though that's what was on their site. Went for black in the end which I'm sure will look great - when they turn up!

Also picked up a couple of leather pocket sheaths, one for my alox classic and one for a 4 layer SAK which is currently housing my Field Master. Also picked up one of the leather sheaths to clip on a key ring, that will house my Mini Champ. Oh, and a kitchen knife with an orange handle - couldn't resist!!

I do think if your ever in a city that has a Victorinox store it is well worth a mooch round all the SAK's, it's a great display.

Atb, Jon.

This has been my general experiance of Londons Vic shop, with one very notable exception(I was served by a very nice lady, and got a free 84mil SAK)

I rather think the Vic shop os for high rollers looking to buy a brand name rther than the Movers,Fixers and Enabler of this august institution!

I had a good look around the displays before going over to the counter where they were processing the orders for the free knifes and decided i was going to buy a solo and what was labeled as a   Red displayed next to it, looked like a solo with a corkscrew as I have a thing for 108 mm at the minute.

But after being spoken down to and then ignored I just thanked them politely and walked out.

And then to top the whole experience I bought a coffee and sandwich from Starbucks and sat down on a stone bench on Oxford street to eat it.
I finished my sandwich stood up and walked two paces leaving my coffee on the bench to throw the sandwich wrapper in the bin turned round to sit back down and a woman had sat in my seat. I was going to point out that I was sitting there and that was my coffee she was keeping company. But I thought what's the point and being that my dander was already somewhat up it was better I just took my coffee and go home.

Very cool, whatever the colour.  I think someone said that they weren't actually offering yellow in the store, perhaps they just ran out?

You sure are lucky, that's what I wanted. I opted for the same engraving but black scales, can't wait for it to turn up!
