I came across this interesting news: https://www.npr.org/2018/10/22/658808705/thousands-of-swedes-are-inserting-microchips-under-their-skin
Well, I find this utmost fascinating! :assimilate: Cyborgs are here already! A professor called Kevin Warwick from UK started all this in the mid-/late 90s and now this is becoming mainstream!
Do we have anybody from Sweden in the forum? :pok: I'd looove to have some feedback, news, thoughts about this. How is the perception/adoption? What do locals feel, think, react to this? We all remember how an aggressive reaction the Google Glass had.

There are several swedes on the forum.
I haven't heard much about the microchip and I'm sure it's mostly based out of Stockholm. And 4000 is not that many compared to the whole country, but it's probably going to spread more and more.
Not sure what I think of it, probably has it's pros and cons like anything else.

Reminds me of that tv show about robots. That was Swedish as well (Äkta människor). They sure like their androids in Sweden :)

"... probably has its pros and cons like anything else..." Is this all you're gonna say? Where is the enthusiasm?? :pok: Come on, the world needs information, this is exciting stuff! Sweden may well be ground-zero for the android revolution. Take a look at this image:

That's an LED _IN_ that dude's hand! If I were you, I'd do that company and have my hand chipped yesterday! :) :assimilate:
First Ikea, then this. I think I should move to Sweden :)

Designed by Aimo Lahti, the L-39 20mm Anti-Tank rifle is and was all Finnish creation :pok:

I'm from Sweden and have read about this before and think that it has some positive sides and some negative.. But we do it to our pets and has for years.. I think almost all dogs has a chip with info on it.. So why not? If I lived of worked in a apartment complex or big office I would like to have a chip to open the doors.. Like an rfid chip.
Not quite sure about personal info though.. But on criminals that never have id but might be a thing.. But that is a political thing and has a ton of other questions and moral thoughts.. So I leave that bee
[It's not failure if you learn something from it]

Might be helpful if it has GPS if you get lost.

Lots of people are from Sweden, about 10 million of them. Wait, what was this thread about? :dunno:

Oh and you guys should be wary of Styx looking for stew ingredients... :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
*points towards the chili thread*
:P

The thing is too tiny for a GPS application. From what I read, it only contains some info (which is chosen by the wearer IIRC) that can be used to open doors or shared as an URL to a personal bio to mobile phones etc.
I find wetware applications like this quite exciting. One crazy guy even injected some stuff into his retina (ouch!!!) in order to be able to see in pitch dark and it worked! After a while the stuff disintegrates but till that time he was able to see in a dark forest like a cat.
