I've been wanting a folding bypass shear multi for awhile, and there are not very many decent options out there.

I've been wanting a folding bypass shear multi for awhile, and there are not very many decent options out there.

I have one, it's a nice design, but it sure could use some refinement. Lots of steel and some aluminum parts, the handle spacers are plastic. It's all steel and aluminum. Stiff as heck too. It's made by RiMei, who makes safety razor blade holders.

Everything is non locking, and it's pillar construction.

9/10 for construction (not a fan of the polished steel)
6/10 function, blades don't open up too much, they spring back, non locking tools, tools not long enough
10/10 for new innovation/quirkiness
10/10 for collector bait

If you answered the second option in both cases then maybe look at the Excalibur/Paul Chen shears ( NB I've never seen the Excalibur pruners for sale anywhere, but I haven't been really looking for them).

Post by: lowtech on November 07, 2013, 04:23:01 PM: I have been buying a Paul chen and an Excalibur lately. They seem to be identical apart from the BO Plier on teh PC which is plain steel on the Excalibur (and of course, branding and placement of Trademark/Patent numbers)
