Title: Skeletool CX 1st Generation-Stock or Mod?
Post by: Steve Cuthbertson on May 20, 2019, 06:44:04 PM
I've had a CX since they came out  and it's a bit used. I have never really got on with the combo blade.
As I can get a 154cm straight blade the question is - change the blade and keep the modded CX, or keep the CX stock and look for another? Is there any value in an obviously worn/used 1st gen. CX?
 :dunno:

A original, stock worn/used 1st gen CX w/combo blade don't command a big price unless they are new or in excellent, close to new condition. Might as well purchase the 154CM straight blade from loki-mobile and keep the modded CX, you can always sell the combo blade by it self, but again, price will depends on the condition of  the blade.

I would mod it with a PE blade if one is available  :salute: but I don't really like combo blades, so I may not be the best person for this question :D

I modded it with the RX blade. I'm also not a fan of combo blades, prefer a full serrated with more cutting surface, specially during my fishing trips, it cut through fishing lines like butter.

In this case I would say put in the PE blade (but hang on to the original serrated one, just in case you want it back in original state at some point in the future).

I also have a first Gen Skeletool CX, but mine is NIB and comes in a nice tin can, so chances of me modding it are very slim  :D.

Didn't know the first Gen Skeletool CX increased in value over the years, just to get an idea, how much would a NIB one go for these days?

And no, I'm not selling mine  :twak:.

 ;)

PE blade on order, along with torx drivers & threadlock.
Thanks for all your input, and the odd smile or two!
