Title: Experiment in leatherwork - change pouch
Post by: magentus on February 12, 2014, 07:46:58 PM
I had some time today so I decided to try a circular bottomed pouch for loose change. I'm quite pleased with the results. AND I found a great use for the Hook!!  :tu: Then I took a blurred picture of it

I used the following SAK's; SI for cutting out the leather, Huntsman for the Hook and Explorer for the small blade.

Please excuse the camera work - It's a phone camera....

Comments etc welcomed...........

Very nice. :tu: I like it. Wouldn't fit in my pocket though. ;) I'm guessing it's for bag carry. :D

I actually made a coin pouch for myself yesterday, just a small one for about 6, 7 coins, enough for the coffee machine and parking. I'll try to get a pic of it tomorrow. Not as cool as yours though and I again forgot to take pics. :-\ Better blurry cell phone pics than no pics. ;)

And great use of the SAKs to make a sack.

As promised, he's my DIY coin pouch. I got "a bit" :P of scrap leather and pleather from a friend who works in the shoe industry (Skele for size).

And I've been using it for sheaths and similar. I decided to use pleather for the coin pouch as it was thinner than any leather I had and thin is good for something this size. I added a snap closure to it. Works great. Holds plenty of coins and a small USB drive/card reader.

Very nice! I keep wondering whether to invest in one of those snap closure crimpers - fastening without one is always a tricky feat.
