Title: Scale Changer Badge Request
Post by: Blackbeard on February 15, 2019, 01:15:11 AM: Huntsman to Huntsman Plus...not as easy as I thought it would be after several flop sweaty panicky attempts to get new scales flush with my feeble hand power, was able to seal the deal with a C clamp and leather strips & a washcloth to prevent scratches, used a climber can opener to remove scales after watching some vids

I used an older black lanyard I had instead of the red that came with kit, looks better with the sapphire I think. Somehow I forgot to get the naked sak transition pic, my bad.

Wondering if anyone knows if I can reuse these red scales on another model I have thats badly scratched or does removing them make them useless? the red ones seem to have a thin circle of plastic thats stripped away on mounting holes so I'm assuming they cant be reused successfully.

In the future, before removing scales, soak the tool in work water to soften the cellidor a bit. Once cooled, they'll go back on like a new set of scales.

Yeah I once tried super glue on my rescue tool cause scales were not quite flush, when I was a sak rookie, now the tweezers are perma glued to it, so I'm a bit leery of it, but now that I've done the procedure will get some more to change out in the future. thanks for the soaking tip :tu:
