Title: Cosmonaut Keep
Post by: Screwtape on January 13, 2010, 10:49:30 PM
Just been re reading Cosmonaut Keep (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmonaut_Keep) by Ken McLeod in the first few chapters he name checks Gerber, Leatherman and Victorinox

A few later on someone is seen using an Opinel, what I like about this one is that it's being used in a few hundred years from now on another world and seems to be considered a example of quality that they can no longer make there.  ;)

Nice one.  I keep meaning to pick up something by him as he lives locally, Looks like I have a book to start with. :)

He's worth the read. I've read The Star Fraction, The Stone Canal and The Cassini Division, all get a thumbs up ...   :tu:    I've not read his more recent stuff.

Can you tell when I stopped working near a bookshop  :)
