I was thinking of swapping a few layers around between 91mm Victorinox knives. It started to occur to me that maybe the liners between layers don't just depend on a single tool that they are next to, but on the pair of tools that they sit between. In other words a wood saw might have different liners around it depending on what was in the next layer. Result of that is that I may need to be a bit more careful what I move where.
I then recalled seeing some diagrams of knives showing tools, springs and liners that might help me figure out whether my planned configurations are flawed. Can anyone point me towards them, or other resources that might help?

Yes, and although I picked it a random it looks like the saw in the top two does indeed have different liners depending on what is adjacent.

I will tell you that the liner in between the blade and the metal saw has a ridge at the small blade and metal saw pivot end that lines up with the spacer piece and allows the main blade to sit comfortably since it sits a little over the liner. Just a heads up I found it out the hard way.

Yes I mod... In fact I only edc my mods... I don't mod for comercial purpuses though... :cheers:

Yup, that liner also has a notch to access backtools...

Is the liner between the openers and the plastic scale (outer liner) completely flat, or does it have embossed areas?

Based on the SAKs I have dismantled, the new ones are not completely flat... have indentations as well

Yeah usually the one between the file and saw.

Forgot that I recently disassembled a Swisschamp for my Master Ranger mod...
A slight technical mix-up as shown on the pic... (I accidentally messed up the order while moving the whole thing for better pic lighting). As shown by the arrows, the liner placements should be the other way around.

I double checked against SAKs I have in my accumulation. On later model SAKs, full liners are no longer used...
Since the wood saw is thinner than the metal saw, it tends to flex to the right when closing... As such it is prone to catching liners... This is why whatever tool configuration and placement order I use, I see to it that I place the correct liner appropriately...

Is one of the fish scaler liners missing? Should there be a liner between the fish scaler and saw?

Nope... It's always a double layer for the fishscaler and wood saw... no liner in between...
