Ok, I must admit that after seeing so many postings of yellow SAKs, I had to get some of that sunshine in my hand too...
Here’s my contribution to get the thread started. My one and only Explorer, with some newly installed yellowness

Can you fan open the rest of it so we can see the full mod? Or link to the post where you talk about it?
The inline Awl (at least it looks like one) looks interesting.

Yellow is one of the nicer SAK colors IMHO, but still a bit uncommon. I'll see if I can take some photos later today.

It's just the two blades with mag and awl, i didn't want the Phillips opposite the mag so fashioned an inline awl from a back awl before i knew you could use the 93mm, it's only two layers but has the tools i use the most, over a year on and the awl is holding up fine :tu:

As you can see, I have quite a collection of yellow SAKs. I also have spare scales. My EDC has been used so extensively, I already had to rescale it due to some cracks (my ex dropped it). If you go back into the SOSAK archives, you can see I have been sporting a yellow knife for quite awhile.
I remember seeing a yellow SAK for the first time. It was love at first sight. Thanks for this thread!!!
-
Yellow rocks, got my hands on 3 pairs of scales, but only swapped my Explorer. A bit like fine bourbon, they’ll be applied selectively for special occasions. :salute:
PS: ...sorry about the ex. Some things are unforgivable. :pok:

I like my bright compact. I always thought of my Stayglow climber as yellow until I placed it beside the yellow compact. Now the climber appears kind of green. Both Delmontes are 18's but the non locking one one the left looks more orange.

Some great colors there 264! :like:
There’s definitely a hint of green in the stayglow. I think it’s the GID material that adds the slight tint.
Yes, can see the left 18 is slightly darker. Probably a bit like matching paint, it’s difficult for the factory to be 100% consistent. Very subtle...but you can make it out.

Hah! Thank you BC. :hatsoff:
I’m still tinkering with a few ideas. Carrying the Explorer this last week let me appreciate this SAK. But I think I want to change the small blade to an inline awl as I always seem to be opening packages, scraping/scoring things and making holes. All tasks the awl is perfect for. Just a shame you need a Pioneer as donor.

Yeah, hefty price for one implement. Maybe if one could mount the 93mm big blade too. Comparing apples to apples bladewise I guess.

Belly of the 93mm blade too deep and catches on the middle pin. Can switch it around 180 degrees and have it pivot the other end (like on the file backspring shown below). Would mean moving the layer to the other side so the awl is still accessible from the outside. Problem is the backspring is too narrow so would need to fabricate a new one which is too much effort. Easier just to use the standard 91mm blade and thin down the awl to be the thickness of the small blade it replaces. This has worked for me before. :salute:
-

Yeah would be nice. As you can see from my comment above, there are some restrictions on what is compatible between 91 and 93mm. I’ve focused on 91mm mods as they have the most variations so you can really mix things up. Not so with the 93mm. But some parts are usable with a bit of work. I use the combo tool from the 84mm Waiter for my Yeoman mods, and the 93mm awl works when skimmed down. I’ve pushed the limits of reprofiling backsprings to accommodate different tools, some mods work better than others. At the point now where I know what can work and what won’t, and I’m comfortable to rebuild mixing the layers up and making minor adjustments such as getting the back awl on a saw layer (Yeoman WS).
-
Very interesting! :tu: I have no clue about SAK modding, so no idea what is doable and what not :dunno:

Yeah, that doesn't seem like the juice is worth the squeeze. I'm not trying my hand at modding until I accumulate a few more SAK's. That's what it is, "accumulating"

Thanks! eBay, probably. Yes they are quite uncommon. I also have gray, green, white and some sort of creamy off-white. The unusual colors often have a company logo but some don't.

Some lovely yellow ness going on in this thread. The Sun is out In full force here today and so to are the yellow SAKs
Stay glow climber
Evogrip 18
Mod- like a minimal mountaineer (2layer)
Mod - 4 layer I made for archery. Probably to most complete tools set for a specific purpose I’ve managed so far in one Knife!
-
And now I miss my sunshine sak... Will have to rotate when getting home

Here you go, my fav mod
File tool for sharpening arrows and cutting knocks etc
Saw for cutting errant branches etc or harvesting hazel for arrows
Scissors - trimming feathers, cutting thread and usual scissor stuff etc
Plus scales - pen to mark scores
Whistle lanyard (have to carry as rules for our society)
Combo tool - celebration beer when you win
3D Philips - in case a non-primitive archer wants to tighten their techno bow up!
Other back tool - so it all works
Also made similar one with full opener layer, small blade and metal file in place of large blade
Also goes in my cycling back pack so my most carried knife over 2 layers.

Thank you for the pics and description.
That is really creative - building a SAK for a specific interest, instead of just to have a bunch of tools that you like.

Cheers, this was actually a reaction to some I did that were just ‘tools I liked’ and never really got used. All my others are just a saw/file plus one other layer!

Lovely pic, Max! Too busy sweltering in heat here - well, I say heat, mid-30s is nothing to most places, but we never get a chance to acclimatise so it feels worse! Doubtless the mid-20s next week will cold now!
-
We have unusually cold weather at the moment...snowing in some of the game reserves in the west of the country...
-
Wow! Don't really expect to see giraffes and elephants in the snow!!

Great photos Max!
