Title: The Blizzard..
Post by: ToolJoe on March 14, 2017, 03:20:11 AM
Is everyone around here located on the east coast of the US ready for all this snow that is supposed to be coming?

Right here in PA, brothers! They called for 18" +. It started snowing about an hour ago. It is 10:42pm here. I am thinking of doing light shoveling around 12:00am to lighten the workload in the morning.

I asked for a vacation day tomorrow, but did not matter as my workplace close tomorrow anyway  :P

Over in Michigan, I guess we're getting some of the outer rim of the storm? Cause we got maybe 3" if that from last night and all today, and maybe another 2" by tomorrow? Oh well, everyone stay safe!

Not as bad as it was forecasted. We got probably 8" here. I only had to clean up around 11am and done. Afterward, it was all wet snow. It seems like the term "monster storm" is used rather loosely nowadays. Every year, we have one big snow storm around late February. Last year was a big one, about twice as much as today.

Had 9" at 6 when I started shoveling. Expecting it to at least double over night. Better to shovel twice than to have to do 18" in one go.

Shovel slow and rest often. No speed records need to be set for snow shoveling. The wind is howling here and the snow is drifting. I am hoping that it keeps the driveway clear and drifts into the backyard and out of the way.

In Delaware it was disappointing calls for at least 4" and it did not even stick to the sidewalks.  And for this we got a snow day.

About 5 inches in Northern Baltimore county.  Slushy but nothing epic. I did get to use my Cybertimer 41 to fix the pellet stove this morning.   :D

We got a lot more snow than I was expecting.  The guys at CHEZ were saying 5cm.  There was a lot more than that when I took my dogs out this morning!

I haven't built up the courage to go out yet. My winter blood has left my bones and the thinner spring blood doesn't like the looks of outside. Gotta leave for work soon though.

Over here spring is arriving...

Having lunch at the water since it's not a far detour from my next customer.
Bit chilly in only a sweater (and yes, pants too) but managable

So no such harsh weather here in West-Europe, while we're about the same distance from the equator?

Not even 10 am yet and I've already been to Parliament and the grocery store.  As for spring blood, that's why I have remote start and heated seats!  :D

I drove just about the whole 70km to work behind snowplows running in Tandem. Close to the city a transport hauling hogs rode beside me. My day is going better than theirs and hopefully I am not bacon at the end of the day.

The plow left about two and a half feet of snow at the end of my driveway.  I giggled as I launched half of it at the house across the road with my bumper.

Everyone I share the driveway with have little cars, so I went back later and shoveled to be neighborly but the pile of snow doesn't bother me at all.

Where in PA are you Chrono?

There was a hair under 7 inches at Casa de TJ. Mrs. TJ's place of business was closed and also work was closed for me so it was a lot of digging out. Shoveling this stuff was a bear and it was easy to get a car stuck in it also (ask me how I know)..

Lancaster county, bud! It started snowing again in the morning for a few hours. The snow did not bother me, but the wind was wicked. The wind is still howling outside at this moment. The thin snow layer becomes hardened and slippery. It is worse than yesterday if you ask me.

The last time it snowed 1" in my state the whole state shut down, people were stranded on the highway delivering babies, and a state of emergency was declared.

Well in a place with no salt trucks or scrapers things can go bad rather quickly :o

It has to get a little bit worse here (state north of gdoolittle) before things go bad like that though ;)

Anything under a foot here and no one seems to really notice.

Over a foot is nice because then the snow packs into the potholes.  :D

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 30" inseam. My boots add about an inch. I ran out of leg before I ran out of snow when I shoveled out my WINDOWS!

This more snow in the last week of winter than we've had all winter so far.
