Hello!
I am on the market for a Victorinox Engineer in New or barely used condition. Let’s talk.
-
I haven't seen one of those in a while! If you find one we will absolutely need to see some pics! :tu:

Guaranteed!
-
Good luck. I've never seen one at all, even in battered condition. I'm guessing Telemechanique had as few made as they possibly could. Provided those VFDs were expensive, and they only gave out one knife with each VFD (or perhaps only to company techs), there aren't many out there. The only example I have seen was the one in the Wiki.
I've wanted one for some time, especially during my time in Siemens Mechatronics Level 1 and 2 classes, as the tools were items I needed regularly. My plans are to make my own using parts from the Automobile and an Explorer.
-
Thank you Cody.
I am not rushing, time is on my side.
-
“Engineer”Still lurking around try to score an “Egineer”. Hopefully someone knows of whereabouts of a nice example. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you know someone who would part with one of those beauties.
Thank you for considering my request.
-
Hey Folks,
Just bumping this up...
I am still lurking on the web, looking for a Victorinox SAK “Engineer” model. I realise that their numbers are limited but would love to have one to accompany my “PLC” tool collection.
Cheers and Thank you.

I have nothing to offer you, but am curious.
Are you looking for one to carry, or to collect?
If it is the former, an alox technician or cellidor automobile are easier to find, and would be suitable tech-driver donors for a mod.
That would the route i would take, anyways. :)

T14,
It would be for my collection only and not an EDC knife. It would become a shelf queen.
-
Bump...
:)
-
Just make one.
-
zoidberg that would be an option for a nice daily carry; But, from a collector’s point of view, i’d prefer the real McCoy.

I understand mate.
Not trying to wind you up here so take the following with a grain of salt.
I make a SAK and sell it to person A, they sell it to person B who now treasures it as the real deal.
Isn't it interesting how the mind can be happy when it doesn't know it doesn't know.
Just out of curiosity, what is an Engineer worth?

Zoidberg,
Well, to me, it depends on the condition. If it’s “like” new or never used it will be more than a used one that’s been sharpened by a debutante. In dollars, it would be more than a Scientist since it is more rare. By rare I mean the “blue” one; issued by the Telemecanique corporation. That to me is a prize worth looking for.
How much would you need to make me an engineer model from parts?
-
Hey Pabs,
This is your homework for the next couple of days. Find out where the expression:
“The real Mc Coy” comes from. I will require sources and a list of references. You have until Friday the 02 Feb 2018.
:)

I would build it for free but you would have to find the parts and cover postage etc.
Seriously, I would ask Syph, one he is closer to you, two he might have the parts already and three he does it for a living.
Finding a tele corp one would be totally awesome.

:bump:
Something like this one would be great. (borrowed from SAKWIKI)

I'll keep an eye open for you the 22nd...

"The real McCoy" was the inventor Elijah McCoy,born in Canada in 1844. He had many different inventions including an ironing board and a lawn sprinkler. Other companies copied his devices, but these never worked as well as Elijah's so people would say, "I want a , and make sure it's a real McCoy."
OR
To quote "Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Plunges into History Again" (a great, nearly 100% accurate source of trivia), page 144 "The most infamous rumrunner was sea captain Bill McCoy, whose liquor was of such high quality that it led to the expression 'the real McCoy'".
Take your pick!
:salute: :tu:

Nice work pfr, Elijah’s most famous and rewarding invention was a boiler, one used in the era’s locomotives. His boilers and associated plumbing became the best product a railroad company could obtain in that era.

Just a friendly weekly bump to the top...
It’s all about exposure...

Where did you find it?
Ebay?
Your garage?
A park bench?
-
I reached out to the PLC community, turns out not only “TELEMECANIQUE” gave those away with their computers.

Feel free to ask around once more :pok:

Maybe I can adopt a twenty-something instead. :)

It's going to get crowded in the Marc residence.
Or take Pablo in by himself, and trade him for an Engineer which you then send to me.
Sounds like a plan to me!

That’s okay, I have enough work on the ranch to keep you both busy for years.
The four cell phone towers need gardening...and general access cleaning.

I like heights. :)

As long as I have a harness. :pok:

One man, one kit...
Old naval expression meaning, it’s your gear, you own it, you take care of it and you have to bring your own.
Additionally, until I file the necessary document, you’ll be an illegal alien...
So don’t rock the boat.

Unless people are going to swing swords at us, a suit of armour is terrible from a worker safety viewpoint. :)

We call that a harness here as well.
-
Hey boys...the idea, since you’ll be illegal, is to fit in...
Additionally, my “Metal Pro” tube for shining and polishing is only 125 g. And being just minutes from the Atlantic you’d have a hard time climbing my cell towers after a short while!
-
Oh wait...
I was fired.
Good luck, Pabs!
-
You were fired from the negotiating team...you can carry Pablo’s tools. You can be the nose bag man.
-
:D
Haha haha haha haha
