Olde style Surge ... hard to break it to get newer version. In fact the only thing that ever broke on these was the locking pins, but Leatherman did that...A charged up Surge would be the ultimate tool
It's a great tool past it being so gosh darn heavy. Keep waiting for Leatherman to make this in a Charge sized tool already. :wait:

Forgot about the Wave  Does the Surge have a pocket clip like the Wave ?
Surge can use the same clip as the Wave. It's a bit wobbly (more so than on the Wave) but works well enough.
Both the Kick and the Skeletool made me realize I much prefer sheath carry.
Thanks Steve. :hatsoff:The Kick clip is specific to the Kick only. It has been discontinued for a while.
Which clip goes with the Kick?
Would it be possible to use or modify a Charge/Wave clip (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leatherman-Pocket-Clip-Lanyard-Charge-Wave-Blk-/171898711492?epid=1600627723&hash=item2805f62dc4:g:T7cAAOSwKIpV-07q)?Thanks Steve. :hatsoff:The Kick clip is specific to the Kick only. P/N 934860 is SS.
P/N 934865 is BO.
Both come with matching (SS or BO) attachment screws.
That might be a real chore, but I'm no expert at modding MTs. I think it would be much easier to mod a Sidekick/Wingman clip (P/N 930379) aside from not being available in BO.I put that one on my Gerber Bullrush. If that would be easier I will probably go that route and keep looking for the proper one.

How long did that take you ?
Probably a couple of hours ::) It wouldn't have taken nowhere near that long but the pesky Rebar plier heads are very hard to get to line up and put back :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :D The Supertool 300 heads were easy peasy in comparison :salute: I used the paper clip to keep the tools together and tried to keep them together as much as possible when putting them back in  The hardest part of that was getting the small washer to line back up with the flats on the pivot pins  Well worth the end result though :like:

Beautiful pic Steve :tu:. (just a couple of days too early, else it would've been on the 2019 MTO Calendar for Januari ;)).
Love the old sheaths, real leather (with real leather smell), I wish Leatherman would go back to this type of sheath, I would gladly pay a bit more (and Leatherman Tools are already quite expensive over here ... ::)) just to have this type of sheaths again.
Steve, is the traditional a BUCK?

Some new Black Oxide info from someone who worked for Leatherman in development.
BO Crunch and PST II were made in a limited # of 100 pieces most sold in Europe.
BO Pulse was one of the first mil specific tools Leatherman made. They had a spike, cap crimper, plus a few other specific tools for demo.
Micra, Squirt, Juice, Skeletool even one garden/hunting tool, one Genius, all had black options developed for military. Only a few ever made a production run but they are out there mostly under 1000 units of each more like under 50 units.

Hello Folks,
I have a few BO LM in my collection (a Kick, a New Wave, a OG Surge and a Mini Tool). All of these have a non-reflective, matt finish (and that's okay).
But recently I acquired a BO OG Super Tool... ...and it has a shiny, reflective finish (all parts, not just the exterior), sort of best of both black oxyde and stainless. Is that "normal" ? Or would the previous owner have spent some time to obtain this finish ?... It doesn't have the original warning sticker anymore, but it doesn't show ANY trace of use either. I have to admit I wanted to sell it, but the more the time passes, the more I want to keep it.
(picture belongs to the seller, I'll to find time to take nice pictures)
BTW, can I join the club ?... :D
Steve, you won't actually believe what I am carrying then :o and it is also from 97 :D actually only one handle is shiny and the other more matte :D
They are both 97 but I will check this evening to get the months :salute:

The yellow one was a 95' Heritage and I also liked it very much but I replaced it by an ULTRA because I had pain in my back from the Heritage. Now I can drive as far as I like without pain because of the air suspension. An I can play CD's when I'm driving.

I've got that "un-intended" acquisition from the bay delivered today :mail:I remember S&W holsters didn’t have the pad and left marks on the pistols back in the 80’s....this was the solution to the problem at the time.
I have a few questions to you guys :salute:
And here's another observation. In both sheath of the two BO PSTs I've got there was already this felt pad put over the upper rivets.
Did Leatherman ship the BO PSTs sheath like this?
Then I've wiped the whole thing with Balistol and what I thought were fine scratches disappeard.
It was just in the loose BO dust. I'm super happy with it and decided this one to carry frequently :ahhh

First question coming up here.
One handle has no date...
... while the other side shows 0793 ...
I thought date codes were added in '92 ?
And here's another observation. In both sheath of the two BO PSTs I've got there was already this felt pad put over the upper rivets.
Did Leatherman ship the BO PSTs sheath like this?
The no date handle is one from before 1192 or the date is a light stamp and under the BO. I've had to wipe off a lot of BO to find the date code on some LM's.
The pads in the the sheath came that way from LM. I have numerous sheaths with the pads in them.
Nice PST! :tu:

If Uncle Sam doesn't procrastinate on repaying the loan I gave him last year, I'll be ordering up a BO Leatherman in about two weeks. The Wave and Rebar are under consideration. (Others have been ruled out due to the stoopid blade length limit I must abide by.) I'm trying to decide if no awl and what I consider less than ideal scissors are worthwhile trade-offs for OHO and bit drivers.
I guess I shouldn't let you run the show all by yourselves. That Signal topo has a great look to it! :tu:

Not that this is gonna make the Wave vs. Rebar decision easier, but this question must be asked. Opening boxes is a very common use for me. I regularly clean off tape residue, with 91% isopropyl alcohol or Zippo fuel. Will either of those remove the black oxide coatIng?
Wiping itself over time will wear off the coating as well as cutting cardboard. No cutting cardboard with the future BO purchase, then. Thanks, Steve!

For work I usually carry a BO Wave or a regular Surge. The Surge can get a surface layer of "rust" after just a week of outside work. Not more than I can just scrub off during my Friday maintenance, but I have never seen that on my BO Wave. :tu:
Tell her they aren't the same since they are a different colors :dunno: Does she have several pairs of shoes that are the same color   :D If not, then you are out of luck but if she does then you might have a shot at that actually working

He did a great job applying a real BO treatment onto a '96er PST II :tu:
As the regular PST II is a little polished it makes it a bit more difficult, and the result looks (and feels) more like the BO on a Swisstool.
Steve has a "shiny" BO PST that might be for the same reason.
Regular PST on the left
Spirit X in the middle
PST II on the right

Knife blade compared to the Spirit X...

Thanks Echo :hatsoff: I love the Blast in general but the BO version just looks so awesome with the Zytel  :like::iagree:
The whole Zytel Range was built for comfort (even the Core ;) ) and are definitely worth having in a collection and for actual use :salute:  Good luck in the search :tu:
Jeez Pancho has been going hard into the paint here lately.
So much BO goodness.
I knew this pic would get this kind of slack ::)
My daughter wanted to take a pic with a MT and since she actually did, I said I would post it :pok:
My hands still look lovely though
No, she has a Black Oxide Wave with a cap crimper that I can't seemed to trade her out of :ahhh  I even tried to get her another BO Wave + but she said she likes the cap crimper as it helps when she does some crafting :dunno: :D
She also has a couple other LM and a nice selection of different scaled Vic Classics and even a pink alox :tu: also some other knives that I have bought her over the years. She always has a blade of some sort on her except for school :salute:
It's take your BO Wave To Work Day :2tu:
