Maybe I am just remarkably incompetent, but I can never seem to get the mixture right and they end up crapping out on me.

Having accidentally forgotten to mix oil one time, in a hedge trimmer that managed to run for less than 10 minutes before seizing, I now run those on premix. It's a little more expensive, but less so than killing an expensive tool.
