only reason why I stopped carrying Bic lighters is that somehow they always manage to go miaFunny that happens to my Zippos.
No-one touch my bic
And btw the smoker-proof system is handy
I'm gearing up to go flamingo hunting. :rofl:Very cool!!
Interesting idea.
The only things that separate us from animals: tools and fire.
I use a Bic to melt my paracord ends. I use the can opener to remove the child safety thingy. Hate those things. They dig into my flesh when trying to light it. Anyone outside USA probably hasn't had to deal with that.
Otherwise, they're probably bad for the environment being disposable and plastic, but no other brand of disposable comes close. No flame adjustment needed. I like both sizes.
Full size Bics are really hard to find here in the UK.That's odd ???
Does this Bic count?Well, it's a multitool, kind of... I'd say, yes it does!

It is... everywhere else has them, why not here? Sometimes you find the mini-bics but almost never the full size ones. The Swedish homeware store Clas Ohlson is the only store I've seen them in, and not always there. Even on UK ebay there is only 1 seller with them, presumably imported from elsewhere.
 How about other BIC products?
Stayglow Deluxe Tinker and a 21 year old lighter. Would look cooler if the lizard sticker wasn't worn out, it kind of matched that paracord.Unbelievable! My BICs won't last any longer than a couple weeks or so. :like:

Yes the pens, disposable razors etc are everywhere. Even the other Bic lighter styles - they're not the most common but you do see them in shops. But not the full size ones. Maybe they can't compete against the Clipper lighters that are very common here. The Clippers are similarly priced and are refillable. But Clipper are a Spanish firm and sell all over Europe, so it still doesn't really explain why Maxi Bics are common in other European countries but not the UK.
You know what, I'm going to email Bic through their web site and ask them :)
I'd be curious to hear what they say! Has it always been this way?
Maybe the Maxi ones last such a long time that shop owners can't be bothered to stock them? It's a conspiracy I tell ya! :D Maybe because of the price? Clippers being refillable does sound plausible.

Well kudos to Bic, I got a helpful reply from a lady called Cheryl. The Maxi Bics are officially available in the UK. But only a couple of wholesalers carry them: EFG Housewares and Palmer & Harvey. And Bic don't know of any retailers at the national level. It's possible some Costcutter convenience stores may have them, as apparently they're supplied by Palmer & Harvey.
So it seems we don't get them just because most wholesalers and retailers are choosing not to stock them, as simple as that.

Just got this Spartan back from service.
Bought it for €2/$2.5 on a flea market.
It had light blue translucent scales but it was in terrible condition.
Turned out the previous owner destroyed the backsprings too...
BTW: I just got out of bed, so I didn't put much effort in this one...
Don't stab me for it!

Spartan with some of my non-BICs.
Realtree Zippo, chrome-plated Zippo, blackened Zippo, Champ(?) butane lighter, and rightmost Karl Wieden Elisorn double sports (1935). The lower part of it is a reservoir to carry extra fuel. Might be a replica.
Nice pic, it'll do just fine !!
I don't have an actual Bic so I hope this will do

I've been using Bic pens since I was in grade school. Life long fan here. I switched to Bic lighters when I got tired of my Zippo running dry right when I needed it. I've been shaving with Bic razors since there was Bic razors. I love Bic products, as they allays work, and are easy to replace at any store on the road. They are kind of like SAK'sl they get the job done in a very reliable manner!

Gene,
I worked with a Guy 30 years ago who called them an engineers lamp,
he said you would keep it lit on your workbench, use it to light other equipment and for soot marking projects?
I can't verify this but it sounds good to me

It's weird they haven't made a Bic multi-tool. :salute:

Better not follow Zippo's steps in that regard...
