Well either it's just my luck or i'm a complete idiot. You make the call. So I just received my CRKT Cruiser and it allows for all four positions of carry and comes with an extra pocket clip. I received the knife and needed to change the clip to a tip up, right front pocket setup. Funny thing is that the way the clip is it will not work. Either there is a huge gap when screwed down or the clip is way off to the side. Hmm..... I figured it out the second clip provided is shaped different to accommodate for this. :tu: Ohhh wait its not...... :( Same exact clip. Soooo..... my question is, is the second clip provided supposed to be shaped different and they provided the wrong one or am I missing something and am going to feel like a complete idiot in a few minutes? You decide.
A few pictures so you can tell what i'm talking about.

Wrong clip I'd say.

Thanks enki_ck. I wen't to CRKT's website and they offer replacement parts free of charge. I asked for a new clip and screws and explained why. I also asked for a few frame screws as backups since they are already sending the clip. Seems to be great customer service. Now we wait and see if they send it and if it's the right one.
EDIT: Is that your picture. If so do you have the knife handy to check if the clips are exactly the same shape or if they are different?
-
Nope, not my pic, I just searched the google images for a pic of the knife with the reverse side clip.
-
No worries. Thanks.
-
Did you hear back from them or gotten the right pocket clip?
-
I put in the request and am just waiting to see what they send. :mail:
-
Am I really missing something, or the clip in the second pic is just "upside down"?
The holes are just a bit off. One of them, at least.
Yep, a symmetrical-bent clip would be the best, if the holes are pre-existent.

Yes it is upside down because I was showing it trying to be installed into the Tip-Up position. The screws only match up when it is upside down or in the crazy position in the last picture.
-
Ok, I'll remove my Captain Obvious mask after one last question:
shifting one hole clockwise is so undoable?
-
Not sure I understand exactly what your saying?
-
with the clip in the right sense, put it with the first hole over nothing, the second over the first of the knife ad the third over the second. If they match, obviously.
-
You mean like this?

I know what you mean sarduker, but it would still be rotated well out of line with the knife :-\
-
Whoops. Posted the wrong picture. I mean't to post this one.

And just for fun and because I wanted to show how much of a monster this thing is. It's next to an Endura4.

Ok, sorry for the dumb suggestion :/

Still have not received the replacement parts.  :twak:
Hopefully they come today or tomorrow. They ask to allow up to 4 weeks for delivery which will be tomorrow.
-
Didnt come today. :twak:
-
I STILL have not received the parts. :twak: Looks like there awesome free parts service isn't so awesome. :twak:
-

I think your postman stole it, he's now got an awesome pocket clip stuck to his wallet.

lol. I guess i'm going to have to keep an eye on him. :D

bummer. :(
I know right. I have had the knife for over a month and haven't been able to carry it once. Might just sell the dang thing and cut my loses. :twak:
-
Update: I checked my orders through there website and they held the orders since the knives where both discontinued. I talked to a very nice and helpful woman who let me know what parts they do have left for the knives I was requesting for and placed a new order with the available parts. :tu:
Side Note: She informed me since they where both discontinued I could exchange them in for a credit towards a new CRKT knife. Out of curiosity I asked what they where offering. For the Cruiser she told me (around) $59.00 and my Crawford/Casper was (around) $45.00. I say around because I did not write it down and don't remember exact prices she gave me. Considering I paid........ $25 ish for the Cruiser that's not a bad deal. :ahhh The only problem I see is you would probably have to use the credit through them and pay full retail price for whatever you decide to get. Good to know they offer this though.
-
Seems this is a clip for "lefties"... Doens't make much sense, you should have a clip that's easily used for both left and right carrying. Or give you the chance to choose what side you prefer and then send the clip and scales prepared for it accordingly.
(love the sound of that word, accordingly. Don't use it enough...)
:D
-
Still nothing! Its been over 3 months since the first parts request and 1 1/2 months since I called and they re-placed the order. :twak: :twak:
I haven't been able to carry this knife once.
-
When I saw the thread back up I thought "Finally!" CRKT aren't exactly showing their best CS in this case. :td:

Im going to call again and find out WTF is going on. Cant wait to see what the excuse is this time. ::).
Im not really that pissed about it. I just want to be able to carry it and its just been sitting on my desk with me staring at it for 3 months. If I dont get the parts soon I might just sell it.
-
wow this is bad service. I've had companies (blade and tool) call me if their is a delay of any kind. it's not like you never called them or emailed them and "reminded" them/let them know the problem(s)
I'd be upset and probably never order from them again...
(and post in as many forums what happened to you)
-
Well I cant complain too much since they offer it as a free service, but even though its free its causing me a headache still. The first time when there was a problem with my order they didn't even send me a email to let me know. I would have never found out until I called in and did some investigating. Then I still dont get the parts after over a month and a half so I have to call in again and find out whats wrong this time. Im guessing there was another problem and they never sent them (again) and there lack of communication just prolongs the whole process exponentially.
-
I called today and apparently there was no record of me calling in the second time. :twak: Anyways, we got it sorted out and I should have the parts by Monday. Im not getting my hopes up. ::)
-
Oh good grief, this shouldn't be that difficult. :P
-
Captain, I think you could have learned metallurgy, created the world's greatest steel, then forged your own parts before these got to you. :D
-
Why isn't there a poll in this thread?
:D
-
Well the parts FINALLY came....... Big surprise.... They sent me the clip I don't need. now I have 3 clips that are all the same and all just as useless to me than the others.
Going to call them back AGAIN for the 10th time and see WTF happened.

Man...
-
Seriously?
-
I wish I was kidding guys!
I felt like i was at the point of giving up on them, but now i'm going all the way and am determined to get the correct clip. I just want to carry the SMURFING knife!!!!
-
:megaslap: tell them to catch a wake up!!!
-
Talked to Ivy again at there customer service. I explained the issue with the clip again and she apologized. She looked and they did not have any of the clips I need to carry tip up in the right pocket, but thankfully she looked and they do have the correct clip in a black finish. I gladly accepted and would rather have the black clip anyways. She is going to send the SS (wrong clip) and the Black clip which is hopefully the correct one. Given all the waiting and bull smurf I have had to deal with, with there customer service I have to say that the woman Ivy working the phone is very nice and seemed willing to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. She made the experience a bit more enjoyable than it could have been. Now I just cross my fingers and hope the correct clip comes.

Well the 4 month back and forth is finally over. They actually sent me the right clip this time. Of course the screws sent with the clip didn't even reach far enough to engage the threads, but they sent me so many different clips and screws I found some that worked. I found it kind of strange that every clip they sent me came with different screws. some longer than others, some dipped in loctite some left un dipped. Well whatever its all over now. Its in my pocket as we speak! FINALLY!!!!

But well worth the wait, right....? ::) ::) ::)
-
It was worth it since I will make it my Hunting/Fishing knife so I don't have to worry about destroying a Spyderco. :D
