Title: Best Fixed Blade/Recommendation/Favorite
Post by: FinneganMckinney4000 on March 14, 2024, 12:06:26 AM
Does anyone have a fixed blade recommendation? (That is less than 200$, give or take)

Or a favorite + pic.

It depends on what you want it for because an EDC knife might be different from hunting, bushcraft, or survival knives.
Suggest you look at the what fixed blade are you carrying thread and at the fixed blade challenges.

Any limit on length for that fixed blade? Intended purpose?

Thanks, Alan and David!

I generally want something for Bushcraft/Camping or all-around hard work (nothing for EDC).

Under 20 inches will do.

Do you prefer carbon steel or stainless?

Take a look at Bark River Knives Bravo series in A2 steel.  Probably can get one NIB around $230, if you’re willing to be flexible regarding size and handle material.

I've heard of how Bark River grinds convex edges on their knives, + my uncle has one.

I strongly recommend ESEE. They're solidly built and (from what I understand) have a great warranty. You can get them in a few different sizes and blade profiles. I have an Izula II, and I love it, but you won't go wrong with any of them. And unless you add accessories like a MOLLE mount and/or spring for the mess tin survival kit, all should come in at under $200.
