Just picked this up today, planning to give it to a friend. Anyone know anything about it?

Imperials aren't as well regarded, or as sought after, as Victorinox or Wenger but Imperial did try to compete in the market.  I like them and collect a few of them.  The patina on the carbon steel appeals to me and you can get a decent edge on them.

If you search in the forum for Imperial BSA you'll get a few postings on them.  Also, this Scout Knives link  (http://www.scoutknives.net/index.php/boy-scout-knives-1/imperial)might be useful.

Thanks! I prefer carbon, too. I had a carbon one with smooth black plastic handles, back in the '70s.
