I was wonder when the first version of the SwissCard has been release.
I read the article on SOSAK about the SwissCard (it is great by the way) and it says Initially introduced in 1997
.
Later on I check my SwissCard box and it says:
Victorinox 1996
Registered, IR Model
Pat. pend
So I was wonder why it says 1996 on the box ?
Btw anyone have SwissCard Quattro Ruby he like to sell/trade ? (prefer one with no advertisement on it).

It is the one I am missing in Ruby :)
I got:
2xClassic (the one with the protractor and the new one with out the protractor) in Ruby
1xLite in Ruby.
So now I need ruby Quattro.

The SwissCards first appeared in 1997, which means that they were in production in '96... or at least the packaging would have been, which would explain the date discrepancy.

I've never seen one of those before.

I bought a Swisscard in around about 1998 on a British Airways flight. I distinctly remember the duty free in-flight catalogue said "Exclusive to British Airways". What a fib that turned out to be :-\

I heard a rumor that the pen in the Swiss card is made by Fisher the maker of the space pen. Does anyone know if its true?

Swisscards are what I am giving away as Secret Santa gifts this year. Everyone I have showed one to, has to have one, which usually means I give them mine and go buy one. You never know they may need that tool 5 mins later and not have it.

Next year I'm giving my sister one of the Pink ones that Cabelas carries.
