I'm a hands free kinda guy. I don't mind belt carry at all. When I do carry a MT its in a sheath on my belt. Like I said I have tried pocket clip carry of my TTi and its not bad.
Here's the thing, when I carry my LM tools with bit drivers I feel I also MUST carry a bit card. I also feel like why not then carry the extender. I cannot reason not to.
When I carry my Spirit however its fine as is. The difference really is OHO. Need? NO. Why not I ask? Why the heck no have OHO when I can? Great tool but.......
Ok I admit I'm analyzing.
The Explorer Plus is hard to argue with on my end. Why do I then? Why not :D.
I've booted my Manager off my keys then after a week put it right back on. Its hard to argue about the Manager for me. Can I get by with a Manager? No.
I can get by with an 84mm tho. Scissors, damn those ever loving Vic scissors. I just love them and they are a slim enough layer for me. I have a Golfer but it needs work. I don't have experience with the combo tool.
I used to reason that carrying my Swisschamp was minimal. I mean its ONE item so............. Then I rediscovered the Champion. I wouldn't miss the fish tickler so I'm back to my Explorer Plus.
I really enjoy carrying my Cadet2. Its such a wonderful tool in almost every way. I thought about a mod of adding the scissors from my Golfer .
Did I say I'm trying not to over analyze this?
Some nice combos, and it appears you have a fair number of tools to work with. If you like scissors (like me) I suggest the Squirt and a Vic Compact. A lot of different tools, not a lot of duplication.
Have you tried a Pioneer X yet? It's got scissors! :)
I'm retired so I guess for every day is a day off for me. I have to carry scissors I have bad fingernails which is a very bad thing to have when you collect pocket knives and multitools. So I always carry at least one 58mm SAK to trim broken nails and a small pry bar to open SAKs and multitools because I have no nails. Then I have heavy carry for the last month it has been a Centerdrive and three-layer or more SAK on a suspension clip when I jeans. My light carry is a Juice or PST in clip on pouch and a small SAK when I wear basketball shorts or sweat pants. The Explorer Plus is hard to argue with on my end. Why do I then? Why not :D.

All I carried for a long time was a waiter the combo tool worked really well for me. The corner of a combo does a pretty good job on Phillips screws it has just the right angle on it and of course it works well on sloted screws.
Mike
I've gone through the same thing before and I'm pleased with what I have decided on. Spirit X on my belt, Wenger SI, Coast flashlight and a Bic lighter. I don't smoke but you never know when you need a lighter.

Thank you for your response. I haven't had any experience with the combo tool but it sure looks good on paper.
So I tried carrying my Golfer and it was nice which I paired with my Squirt. Nice over all carry but at the end of the day I was really thinking I'll need to try a Compact. On Sunday I carried my Swisschamp. I know its not generally regarded as minimal however I'll argue it is. I think however my Champion just makes more sense, I dont exactly know why
I also tried my 84mm Tinker but its just not doing it for me.
So off to try to find a decent Compact to pair with my Squirt.
Compact over Golfer mostly because the plus scales and just because. As I mentioned mostly just to try something I haven't.
Champion over Swisschamp also no real reason other than I do like my Squirt more for pliers than my super tweezer pliers of my SC.
Fine tuning my off day carry is more where I am headed than anything.
Botton line I can carry my Golfer and Squirt and be stoked. I can also just carry my Swisschamp like I used to and be done.
Where I see myself headed is no where particular just evaluating over the course of time.
Yes my Golfer is the 84mm variety.
The Explorer with Plus scales is a hard SAK to beat. An 84mm version of this would be awesome.
I don't mind carrying a fixed blade around I also want to always fly well under radar. If I have a MT sheath on my it's always covered by my T-shirt or other shirt. I don't mind carrying a folder however I really don't want a clip showing for no other reason than wanted more to stay under the radar.
I like the 84mm line and have a few.
I have what I believe is the Recruit economy, Golfer, and Tinker.
I don't mind the lack of back tools especially when paired with my Squirt but lack of T&T is kinda lame.
Yes I agree when I carry my Golfer its feels driver light. I was surprised how well I got along with my Recruit and phillips screws. I haven't had the occasion to use the combo tool for any phillips. I do like my 84mm Tinker a lot more that I thought I would. My squirt is pretty good in covering where I feel light but having a dedicated Philips is something that just makes me feel good. Spoiled by my Explorer.
Aloha,
Based on you telling us that you carry the Champion and a Squirt so you had plier's (aka super tweezers) in place of the Swisschamp, I decided to give that a try but with a twist too. I picked up a PS4 cause I didn't have one and I am actually gonna pair it with the Explorer Plus so I still get the plier's but dont have tools like the saw and fish scaler that I don't need on a daily basis. I will also use the PS4 with the Champ Plus too some time!
Thx for posting that! :tu:
I've started to carry only my 111mm Soldier and I've been just dandy. I may add a Manager or Minichamp on my keys just for kicks.
Yes go for it. This is exactly what I'm doing. Trying stuff I never thought I'd like or actually feel covered carrying. I'm not carrying anything as back up either. I don't want back up cause if the tools I have aren't up to the task that fine. It further helps me rationalize what I will carry.

Well, having found myself in need of a Phillips screwdriver this afternoon I've stuck the Scientist in my pocket with my PS4 on my keys. In fairness the Style file/screwdriver just about coped but it was definitely lacking.

Well now you know without reservation not having a phillips isn't gonna work for you.

Very true. Went back to the job with my Scientist and got it done properly.
I forget about my Al Mar Ultralight Falcon. I carried it yesterday and it was nice having it. I was blade heavy but my Al Mar was my food knife. I used it to cut tomato for lunch and open a pack of St Louis Ribs.
Cleaning the knife is really easy and I was able to give it a proper dry as well.
I'll post up a pic in a bit.
I'm still evaluating being capable without trying to solve any and all things that "might" come my way.
I know I'll need to be able to cut.
I know I'll open a can.
I know I'll need to turn flat and phillips screws.
I know I'll need to scrape or pry something.
I know I prefer scissors to a blade for some tasks.
I know I'll need to grasp something my fingers aren't strong enough to.
I can live within certain limits. I have no problem not being able to perform certain tasks.
I don't require one tool to do it all. I'm handy enough to use the tool at hand to its fullest capacity.
What I'm not trying to do is limit myself to size and weight just for that sake. I'm not trying to test myself by carrying around the least to see if I can get by. This is not about what I can live without in so much as what I can manage with.
This all is subject to change as well. I am enjoying the process as much as testing out each tools capability and my ability.
I've been heading in this direction for a while now, so much so that I think I've found a solution (at least for now) which has led to some of my other tools being relegated to bags and kits. I used to try to "carry as much as I could without looking like it", which was definitely a fun goal, tried lots of options looking for tool density and pocket-ability.
Now, like you mentioned, it's about "what can I manage with". If I have to go back to the car once in a while for a bigger tool to handle a bigger task, it's not the end of the world (for me specifically, some people have much more strict needs). But I don't need that 95% of the time. So my new goal was looking for compact and "reasonable", at the expense of complete preparedness (again, personal, not for everyone).
My carry these days has become very nearly an EVERY day carry, with my Pioneer X, my modded Squirt, and my Olight i3s (pliers, blade, nail file, 3d phillips, flat drivers, and tweezers). I'll carry a full-size MT if I know there's work to be done somewhere, or a 5+ layer SAK around the house because they're just cool, but so far I've found no reason that I need to change my usual carry.
I don't think I'd realised how compact the Al Mar is. Very nice. :tu:
Interesting thread bromigo. I pretty much carry the same stuff on the weekends as I do during the weekdays. Of course when I am not at work I am on the farm.
Great thread!
I like this thread a lot, I recently picked up a few small nitecore lights and started thinking about carrying one of those paired with my ps4 and the shard. After reading this i think I'm closer to leap, lol.

Another setup I've been toying with is the leatherman mini and a vic classic, giving me the essentials: knive, pliers, and sisscors.

Still playing with my light carry a bit, but here's what I've got on me just now. Small pocket knife (RR Whittler), Squirt P4, Vic Rambler and Nitecore Tube.

After the challenge I am gonna try a bit of this as well
Great thread BTW :like: :like:
I have carried this before and it worked wonderfully, an Executive, a Shard and my :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh !!!MINI!!! :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
I think that it meets most if not all my needs and for a light I have for the last several months carried an Olight I3e :like: :like:
Been good watching the progression and reading this thread :tu:

With whats on your keychain you really are set, the RR however is pretty wonderful. I like to carry my reevaluated carry items and possibly a fun items just because.
I have looked into.getting a PW or a PW2 for last few years and just never have pulled the trigger yet
That is an awesome carry Aloha and yes the Olights are fantastic lights :tu: I have also been looking to get one of the brighter small lights they have as well :tu:

I have the Ti Thrunite 160+ lumen which is pretty awesome for AAA. I have to admit tho, the LD02 with its clicky is pretty nice light. I will also admit that I like the strobe mode. I run all my lights off eneloops so I get a bit more run time than spec'd.
I'm also playing with how I'm carrying mine. Above you can see what I've done for years with small tools, simply clipped them to my keys, but I'm currently trying out just having a small tool set on one 'S' biner and keeping my keys less bulky. I'd normally of removed the MT from my keys to use them anyway but with much less in the way I'm not sure I need to do that quite so often. It's all an experiment and time will tell.

I use a Ti3. Firefly is good for reading at night and doing something without disturbing anyone, and the 120 lumen high is plenty high. :like:
The fun part is deciding what you like to have and what you can live without. A Swisschamp to me is fine even if I never use the fish tickler. The idea of having one tool with many capabilities is enough to carry it when I did.
I am still carrying my 84mm Tinker, Pocket Wrench 2, and Fenix LD02. I have missed the scissors on a few occasions but my I have realized that the combo tool on my Golfer isn't so great.
Sorry to hear the SOG didn't work out better. I'm trying to think of an argument against the P4 but as it's been my carry for a month or more, I really can't think of one. My little group of P4, Vic Rambler and Nitecore Tube with some kind of knife or SAK added really has covered my needs.

Well there is an easy negative - it is hard to kick out of your EDC

I :like: those sheaths, especially the ones you made yourself. I wish I had that kind of talent,
and as always it's very interesting to follow the natural progression of your EDC, it's thought provoking to say the least

I have patience not talent . I also copied both styles of sheaths ( tinker/squirt and light/pen ) unapologetically :D. Get some leather or similar material and give it a go. Its really fun to see what comes about.
I will give you combo options tested by me:

Aloha,
So, you no longer carry a regular sized Leatherman or other multi on your days off?
I will agree that the P4 (Now the Squirt PS4 if I'm not wrong) is a really nice tool packed into a small package. My buddy who works with me lost his on the Job. I carry a PST or bigger, plus a Super Tinker, so I was kind of ribbing him over what I perceived as a toy of a Leatherman.
Anyway, I bought him another PS4 on his birthday to replace the lost one. I took it out of the package to make sure it was all there before gifting, and I almost didn't want to give it. Very nice plyers. Far better than the Deluxe Tinker plyers.

Which set is used most often? I notice some "favorites".
I want to be like Ronald. I want to carry several SAKs because dammit I can. I imagine myself emptying my pockets and lookin gat the table. I'm standing there wondering why the F all this stuff in in them. I began rationalizing why when I stop myself mid rationalization.
Manager on keychain. Serves me so well and is a bullet proof carry tool. It does have limits.
Tinker in sheath. I continue to be surprised how well I like this simple SAK. Paired with my Manager and I feel I can nearly dominate the world.................. :D
Squirt P4 in sheath with Tinker. Having pliers is a good thing. Having small effective pliers is awesome. I also get a file, Awl, a variety of smaller drivers in such a compact package. WIN WIN WIN.
I dont "need" to carry anything else BUT I want to, sometimes. So I'll pop a larger SAK in my pocket. The second it hits the bottom of my pocket I wonder to myself, WHY? Why am I brining this tool along? What purpose does it serve?
I am not a minimalist. I am not a minimalist. I say again, I am not a minimalist. I also don't have to justify to myself why. But I do and then I take the SAK out and at some point in my day I yet again question why?
I don't have a point by the way. If you were thinking I do.
I will continue to cary my "core" items and when the urge strikes I WILL carry what I want in addition. Redundancy is for many part of thier system. Its a system unto itself. My mind doesn't work that way actually. I may have said 1 is none and 2 is one but I really dont adhere to that in my day to day. I don't consciously make the effort to do so.
Today I will add my Farmer to my mix. Why? Because thats why :salute:
Do you know that scene from the 2005 movie Sahara, where Dirk and Al are captured by Tuareg, and Al unloads? One of the funniest movie scenes ever, imo.
But of course. No 84mm Golfer. I like the idea but that combo tool :twak:. For now, for today as I prepare to leave the house to run errands. I will take my Skeletool and Explorer.
Stinker?! You may not like it, but there's no need to be rude...
Does that leather Vic pouch have a hole for the light? The cut-out is to allow you can press the light button, right? Can the light be used without taking the SAK out?

There is a "hole" in the front. I think you are right, its possible for the light activation. My guess is the sheath is meant for a LED 58mm. My Manager doesnt have a LED but I like how the shield shows thru the hole.

Probably it's meant for it. I must try to make a similar pouch for my Midnite Manager. The pouch I use now is meant for Classics, I need a wider one and, if I can get it to let me use the light, without taking the knife out, that'll be nice, too.

Last but not least is my choice for........ Idiots  :D. I have not used it nor intend on it nor want to but there are plenty of idiots that come and go in and around us. I'm pretty level headed and very easy going. I manage to avoid BS since I am not one to engage with stupid people. It really would have to be a situation that demanded use.
I have one in my vehicle keep close at hand and one I have been keeping on my belt. I struggled with how to carry it and pocket carry just wasn't working nor did it seem a good idea IF I needed it in a hurry. I have a simple ranger band ( bike inner tube ) cut and placed on my belt. The canister attaches very securely with little or no imprint. I am legally allowed to carry a certain amount of pepper spray and while this canister looks large it falls within the legal parameters. I'm a lefty so its carried on my left side just forward of my left front pocket. No issues getting my wallet out ( I carry my wallet front left pocket ).
Pepper spray may not be your thing but its a little bit of piece of mind for me. I also got my girls and friends some too. I had one incident where I reached for it but I quickly assessed the idiot and realized he was drunk and no threat.

This came with a Classic. I wet formed it to fit my Manager. Its snug but comes out easy enough without worry it'll come out. I have had it on my keys now for a good while with no issues. I tried to make one but mine came out too large. I love the sheaths you made so I think you can make a nice one for your Midnight Manger.
I found squirt ps4 and freestyle very light carry and a good set of tools. Example I needed to assemble latters I could use ps to hold a bolt while used freestyle to tie a nut. But also always thinking other options :) Both freestyle and squirt are light so can't push pliers too much. But for heavier options need to upgrade to heavier carry. For hold and tie type of tasks I think keychain tool is good to have even bigger tool have drivers and pliers as well.

Great stuff mate. :tu: My light duty carry hasn't changed much if I'm honest.
The Vic Rambler has just lived on my keys for months and I've basically no reason to change it.
For a pair of pliers I've played with a Gerber Dime that I like the pliers and bottle opener on, but it's still never going to replace my Squirt P4 as the rest of the Dime I find a bit....meh.
For a light then I just can't get past my Eagletac D25A clicky, though if I'm going seriously light the Nitecore Tube is excellent.
For a slightly bigger blade I've been a bit more varied. I've been using a mix of 84mm SAKs and traditional knives. Vic Sportsman and Case Mini Trapper likely topping the bill.

- Ruger EC9s in an Aliengear Cloak Slide OWB holster: I always carry a firearm, and usually a single stack 9mm that hits that sweet spot between utility and ease of carry
- Victorinox nail clipper: folds flat; case prevents pocket from getting shredded
- Explorer Plus: favorite SAK; tons of utility. Love the inline phillips like God intended for mankind.
- mini Sharpie: until you carry one, you don't realize how often you'll use it
- Spyderco Dragonfly: quick deployment for most cutting tasks
- Streamlight Stylus Pro: long runtime, 2xAAA Eneloop, simple on/off functionality. Works when you needed it.
- Knipex 6" pliers wrench: amazing tool that replaces a toolbox full of crescent and adjustable wrenches; sometimes carry the smaller 5". Smooth jaws remain parallel throughout their range of motion.
- Maxpedition phone holster with top strap removed (carries a Samsung J7, which provides most of the functionality of the high end Samsungs at 25% of the cost).
The nail clipper, Explorer Plus, Sharpie, Dragonfly and Stylus Pro ride in my LF pocket; Knipex in my RF or verticle pocket on 5.11 Taclite Pro pants. Gun and phone on belt under t-shirt. I am accustomed to this setup, and don't notice that I'm carrying anything. The time-tested core of this EDC are the Explorer Plus, Sharpie, Dragonfly and Stylus Pro.
Really enjoying my Salesman. Its working our great. My P4 is unstoppable. I really like that tool. I could almost just carry it, almost. There has been some slight, very slight disruption. I happened upon a Wenger Pocket Tool Chest. What a SAK. Can we have it all? IF, if only it had a pen :dd:. That would un seat my Manager in a NY sec. Well,.
So, what I have been doing is carrying it ( PTC ) along with my Manager. Certainly seems redundant but goodness how do I leave it at home? My keychain as you've all seen if you've followed along has my Manager and a LD02 permanently attached. That keychain has my house key and 2 pill fobs. I have my car keys which are separate. On it I have a Photon X and now my PTC. I honestly don't want or need both small tools. The PTC will eventually have to go.
Go where :dunno:. I harken back to a simpler time.
For now its not a terrible bother. Its a super cool SAK that beckons me to carry it.
While I've not tried the Photon X I would say that for the same kind of money you can get the excellent Nitecore Tube. No need to buy any batteries ever again. ;)
Everyday is an off-day for me now, and the deluxe tinker handles most of them with easeOh, are you retired too?
Oh, are you retired too?
Kind of. Disability rather than ageAwww...everyday is Saturday!
I sure hope thats not the case AW :(.
I carried my Deluxe Tinker quite a lot when I got it. Its a wonderful SAK no doubt. I went to the market tonight and stopped to get a bite to eat before hand so I wasn't hungry at the store. I've made that mistake a few times and learned my lesson.
I carried my Wenger Pocket Tool Chest and Zebralight. It was great. I used it to snip the wrapper off a candy for my partner. When we got home we repacked the items for the freezer and used the main blade to cut the container open. Light was used to see on side yard to bring bins in.
:salute:.
Sounds like you've got some great options. The Vagabond and Minichamp are powerful SAKs. I can see why you chose them.
No need for a fixed, even tho I like to carry my Esee Izula at home. I try to balance my, "desire to carry", and "want to carry". I enjoy what I have so I like to carry them. When I am home like today, I do have a little more fun. Seems when I head out I tend to be more pragmatic.
Very, very nice mate. I'm liking those slip sheaths you've got there. Are you carrying them in your back pocket?
Some nice options ! :like: :tu:

My out of the house combo is a Vic Explorer Plus and a Leatherman Squirt PS4. The Leatherman provided the pliers, wire cutter, and file. Around the house the Xplorer gets traded out for a Classic or a Rambler.

If only we could carry incapacitant spray/gel here :dd:
Great thread and pics! Like some of you my home edc is often in flux, but I really do like the idea of settling on on a consistent edc that I carry both at home and outside of home. Most recently I upsized my multitool from a Squirt PS4 to a Leatherman Bond or PST. I’ve downsized my SAK from the Explorer Plus to a Compact. The single AA flashlight, the pen and notebook remain the same. The main reason for the changes is that I broke (bent) my Squirt trying to cut some wire that it couldn’t handle and I wanted something that while compact would be a little more robust. So that meant a bigger multitool. To compensate a little for this I tried to save a little on the size and weight of the SAK (while keeping the SAK scissors which are a heavily used favorite of mine…not to mention neither of the two multitools that I’m using have scissors).

One heck of a kit Aloha! Loving the chains, I used a chain in secondary for my locker and house key, school was not the time to try that... It was not well received by my 'peers'
I should put more effort into my kits, though being at home like... 95% of the time makes it a bit hard to not grab a couple handfuls of whatever is allowed in the challenge of the month
How do you find carrying the Zebralight on your loop? I'd imagine that it'd be past the point of retention, does it moving around not bother you at all?
How useful do you find the midnite minichamp's light?
My carry is evolving as I go thru the thread. I have some items that have remained. I went from a Wave to my Squirt since I was not using the Wave as much. I can see how you went the other direction especially when you had the fail. Going from a Explorer to the Compact is not bad at all. Lots of functionality in the Compact.Like
The PST is a nice slim multitool yet offers more robustness over the Squirt. I don't have a Bond but from what I've been reading its also seems like a good slim choice.
Thank you. The chains have been working out great. I was going to use paracord but I had the chains. The brass one is nice looking and the only one that shows. The silver on goes straight into my pocket. I also dont tuck my shirt in so......I agree. I have a Minichamp with the light. It’s an older one and they may have since been improved, but a AAA flashlight is much superior for most tasks.
I can imagine a couple keys hangin from a chain as a young boy wouldn't go over too well. The biker wallet is a look with the chain hanging. Its not the look I was going I was after a secure way to keep my slip sheath from wandering. I am a big fan of the Victorinox belt clip with chain so this was familiar.
So I should follow up to say I only carried the ZL in my loop when wearing the 5/11 pants since they have a wider belt loop. I also wear a leather belt which also helps the light stay snug. As for movement, its pretty stable but I have also been trying it clipped inside the waistband and in the 5/11s front velcro pocket. I dont like to clip it to my pocket or just let it sit at the bottom of my pocket.
I'm pretty happy with the light from the Midnight Minichamp. I carry a button light and while they are great for certain situations they have their limits. The MC is bright enough for those moments when you need some light. I wouldn't use it to light my pathway along the side of my house but it would be ok for a dark room or under a bed.
I much prefer a AAA in most circumstances. The are easy to carry and slim. They can be carried on a keychain for the most part so you'll always have a light. My AA/14500 are for everything else.
If you were to compare the MM's lite to the Rovyvon's main LED, what brightness level is it closer to?
The SAK white light is pretty dim. While nice in a car looking under seats or glove box. Nice for under sofa or when theres NO light. I'd say the "closest to" the lowest mode of the A5. I can use the SAK light for my door lock. It useable light but specially so.
I really like my A5 with red aux LEDs.
I had been wanting to try a newer version rather than the old red leds. Those were pretty bad and I was not a fan. When FolderBeholder sent me this one I was really very surprised how decent of a light it is. Yes there are far better lights but they do not have scissors, pens, phillips, or a blade. I hope you'll enjoy yours.
Its got to be fun.
What do you do when you have gear that you just love? What do you do when you have really good gear that you want to carry even tho you have your EDC all set?The second question is easier to answer: my EDC is never all set. If I want to carry something, sooner or later, I'll carry it.
That's not bad for the size, I do think Vic are overdue a revision with more modern LEDs and rechargeable cells like in the Keysmart Pro smart side. My Rovy is the one with UV instead of red light, I like it for playing with GitD stuff, including self charging the body to act like a marker for my organiser.
A lovely set of trads you have to choose from! My trad game is pretty low but I'm building up to it.
This reminds me I should probably update my carry thread
POM Pepper spray and how I carry it all.I have two pair of those identical pants/shorts, same color and all! I saw a pair and was like OMG there so expensive, but there was a deal, if you bought 2 you got a % off, but then if you spent over so much you got the pads thrown in for free, so by the time I bought 2 pair the price got knocked down to the price of one plus the free pads and free shipping, like totally made out! But those freaking paints/shorts were the best freaking find I ever made!
;)
This thread began because i really enjoy seeing what others carry. Taking a look at what I carry and why I realized I just enjoy carrying "stuff".Your post reminded me of the modern ten essential groups. Of course, I doubt most of us carry all ten regularly when not hiking or camping, but the idea remains.
7 years later and I still enjoy carrying stuff :D. Its actually been longer than that but who's counting?
Here is a sampling of categories I carry. Over the many years I've determined these categories to be what makes sense to me. I hesitate to call them anything specific. I've read "core" or "base" but I'm not sure what sounds right to me :dunno:.
Cutting. I find it interesting in my day to day how much stuff I cut. Its not only amazn boxes or mail. I do a lot of gardening and love to keep busy around my house so there are plenty of opportunities to need a knife. It was literally pizza this past Friday.
Light. In my neck of the woods it will eventually get dark. My back yard has motion lights but its nice to light areas that are not well lit. My neighborhood is older and there are few street lights so when we take our evening walks a light is essential. I have a truck with a Leer Contractor top and lighting is sparse. I changed a tire fairly recent and my lights were wonderfully helpful.
SAK. Convenience. That same Friday I mentioned I cut a pizza I also opened a bottle with the cap lighter. The scissors are great for an impromptu trim of my beard or mustache. I have cut my finger nail/s a few times. While many cans these days have pull tops there are many that don't and I love using the can opener for those. Ever needed to make a hole? I've used my SAKs awl quite a bit. My hanging plants appreciate drainage and some pots dont have holes.
Cordage. Pick your flavor. Mine is 550 and its been more than handy. That Friday I spoke of previously, I used 550 cord to tie up some bed slats to make them easier to carry. Last night I used some to tie down a awning bungie cord that snapped do to winds. I've used it more than I can count over the years actually. I tend to carry a few hanks these days since its been very practical for me.
Writing instrument. Pick your favorite. I like to have a mini sharpie and pen with me. I will also add in a pencil simply because the occasions for one have come up more.
Paper. I have a small enough pad to make this very easy to do. I don't do lists on my phone. I like to write down things. I should say I love to journal if that means anything to anyone? Paper is essential for me.
Booboo stuff. Funny enough its rarely for me so I carry for my family. Just a few things on hand that are easy to carry.
What might seem like a lot to some might very well be minimal to others. This is where I'll openly say that I enjoy gear and stuff. I would not have lasted as long on this forum if I didn't. I most certainly will carry something just because I enjoy it. Never the course of this thread I have reconciled with myself that I really enjoy my things and if I choose to carry several of each category then so be it.
If I choose to carry additional items because it feel like it then so be it. I am having a lot of fun with those extras items. Heck I am having more fun these days with it all.
Thank you if you've read this far. I'll post up some pictures of the items in the categories I've listed. I'll also post up additional items that are fun.
anybody ever told you that you're a bad influence?
Nice set up.
:D I've seen nice ones since and Alpaka as well as Viperade have some that look great.
When my kids were younger I had quite the "diaper" bag. Talk about being prepared for most anything. I do find myself feeling ready to take on most things with whats in my pockets. As to chargers and cables :twak:. I almost got a multi wall plug just in case someone else was using the plug ;). I decided against it. My 10K batter bank should be enough. So far it has been.
I have to say regarding fun, its fun to assemble these kits.
