Nice blue one mate. :tu: How's the finish? Feel tough or likely to flake?
Nice lanyard xelkos, I'm not usually a fan but skele is a perfect candidate for a lanyard. Did you make it yourself?
Blue! :drool:It's the only time in my life I'll (briefly) have a multitool you don't. :P
I own one. I might not be it's biggest fan, but I do own one. :D. Do you actually carry it at all gareth? What are is your beef with the skele? I have a few of my own gripes with it but am still throwing it in the pocket.

Standard with plain edge blade. :)
A Q... How can I get hold on PE blade for Skele, I have one w/CE and I don't like CE...
Can I play too?
The one with the lanyard is getting alot of pocket time ATM. I use it mainly around the house and garden. As I was made redundant last friday I am using the time to sort out the garden.sorry to hear that mate, anything else in the pipeline? :-\
hi Seniors and Newbies alike..
my first discussion post (after the introductory thread)... to be in Skeletool owners Club...
pls do accept my sincere apology if my 1st post is a bit formal, as im aware of certain forum ettique (and pardon my english too)..
well, my 1st post and my old story of my 1st LM (apart from Vics).. .. a Skeletool (SS 1st), then comes the Red Rei version. Both were pre-owned, locally and from eb about a year ago..the Red has some paint nicks on them, and now kept in the holding bay...with other MTs...8-)
the frame design catches me, as its looks cool & futuristic and Skele SS is my bagged edc..
may need to get other colour too..thats the 'inner peace' to rein in the 'want'..
ps.. could not open the attached photo link, as im read/writing from mobile..
from a year on..im starting to get few Vics (sorry!) from Tim FVEAP , more LMs ... well thats another story....8-)
cheers..
I got one a couple of weeks ago so I am now in the cool group, init?
Impressions:
Cool terminator 1 look, especially when open at 90 degrees.
The blade is smaller than I expected. I was thinking it would have this huge blade, dominating the whole tool, but apart from its width it is similar to the blade of my juice, init?
The paint on the screwdriver bits is already wearing off, after being taken out a few times; not very impressive.
The pliers look a bit more robust than the juice ones.
The blade has to be opened quite fast to lock safely; otherwise the liner lock does not move enough to properly secure the blade.
The blade seems secure enough and its backspring is solid, unlike the similar style system.

I found the same thing with the black coating on the bits but I mist say I have been putting leatherman bits through a lot and haven't stripped one yet, and they bite nicely IMHO. I also hoped the blade would be bigger but I don't have the problem you are having with the liner lock. Mine clicks into place with no effort at all. Is yours the newer version as in PE on CX?
Red one 8)
Me too :tu:nice pic gav it totally looks like alien technology.
Not seen these in red before, kinda dig the orange one but like this red :tu:Just stumbled into it while at the shop one day.

It's marked as an exclusive color for 'Recreational Equipment Inc.' (REI) but I've no idea how true that may be.

That's actually true, just as green is a Cabela's exclusive. :tu:
Got my skeleton in the mail today. I had to have one. It's amazing how much money I've spent on MT since I've joined this forum. Oh well, it's only money. (http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss61/swampgriz/39e3c6f2.jpg)Yeah, that's one club we ALL can belong to :P.
I wish to enter the club :)
So the one I have is an old one then? Could it be one of the ones that had a lot of failure issues?
Does it have a date of manufacture on it like the Crunch does?
I think most skellies dont have the date stamp. I didnt have any experience with troubled ones
I bought a Skeletool a few months back from Dennis. I honestly only bought it to help round out the collection and because it is a Plain Edge. After messing with it a bit I actually want to carry one, but do not want to carry my Plain Edge. I'm thinking I need a Skeletool CX in the near future. I might have to trade something off to get it though. :tu:I'm going to start a combo edge lovers club. :) :) :p

Hey Cap, the CX I bought from Jeff at Cutlery Shoppe last month has a combo edge, but I wanted a plain edge one. Maybe we could work a trade. PM me if you're interested.

would be nice if leatherman did a gold coloured CX like SOG have gold MT's.
if anyone in this club has a combo blade for a CX that they would want to swap for a plain edge blade, i would be interested in a swap. i have more use for semi serrated. (UK only offer)

I have a new CX with a combo blade that I'd trade you for a PE blade... I'm in the States though. Still, if you're interested, let me know.
probable a silly question but is the CX bigger than the standard skeletool?
I have said it before and I will say it again. I used to hate the Skeletool, but after carrying a PE Skele for a while I actually love it. :tu: I'm thinking a colored Skele is in order.
Mine comes tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Do I have to wait till then to join the club?

I like the dartboard pic! That's awlsome! Regarding the pliers I know the engraving changed when they swapped the CE to PE on both models. I'll take a pic of my old cx beside my new SS later. As for freestyle vs skele I'm not too sure. I don't have a freestyle yet.
Stay multi my friends
Real nice pics BT! Don't forget to throw some into the 'Multitool stuck in a log' thread. Have one on the way for my boss which will make three floating around the shop.

Not that it matters too much but check out the un-even grind on the blade. Anyone else's like this? Appreciate it will come out over time and sharpening but should be better IMO from the factory.
Atb, Jon.
Not to big on the driver, short shanks (excuse the pun) fall short.
Good eye.Awesome collection there Chako!
In the first year...I think 2008, the CX model came with a serrated blade. That is the one that is deeply serrated compared to all the others. The regular Skeletool came with a plain blade. The following year, they switched over, with the CX having a plain blade, and the regular Skeletools having the serrated blade. Interestingly enough, the serration on the newer models are not as deep as the first year serrated blade.
Heinz, the longer you stay here, the more MTs you will eventually have. You will have a Charge, a Fuse, a Blast, and possibly more before you know it.Good to know, thanks for the info. I was wondering if the one I received was an older one or not, but until now had no way of knowing. For now I'll just live with it unless it fails, and deal with it then. I'm not real hard on my tools, so hopefully it won't be a problem.
Possibly old stock. As for Leatherman, I think they only repair damaged products. I don't think they would exchange it for a newer version...but I guess you can email them and ask.
Just embrace the addiction!!! :whistle:Believe me, the only thing keeping me from spending more than I already have is my wife!!! :ahhh

Just tell the wife that MTs, SAKs, and flashlights are cheaper than keeping a mistresses ::)
I'd love to! But she'd smack me into next week, for sure! Well, not smack me, but she has a way of making me wish she had, instead of the other things she does to let me know she's various levels of ticked off at me... :facepalm:Just tell the wife that MTs, SAKs, and flashlights are cheaper than keeping a mistresses ::)
Oh I'm definitely using that one! :)
I really wish i got the CX. The serrated blade was a surprise on my skeletool. Really didnt want it. The pic of the tool was old and had the straight blade option. Nice noob move on my part. Until further reading on this fine fourm I was informed of the moving change. :tu: The serration is a nice option, but agressive cutting really dosent apply to my uses with the sleletool. Im sure it will be needed for some tuff stuff someday.
potash is an alkali, right? That's gotta be hard on most metal equipment.

The first apparently coated with gold - not released officially.
Second - Rei.com edition.
Third to sixth-Limited Color Edition.
Eighth - CX first versions
Tenth - normal skeletool
Eleven-skeletool first versions
The issue with the seven and nine - they are the same or different? If different, what's the difference.
I have to agree with this last post. I've been through two Skeletool CX, two Waves, one Charge AL and one Style CS and the Skeletools have been head and shoulders over the others when it comes to fit and finish. Have others had this experience as well?
Everything snaps and clicks very tight on my Skeletool and there is no wiggle on anything anywhere. The only complaint I could make is that the pocket clip is easily bent as it catches on to things accidentally.
Fisting_Chili for $65. :)
How do you like it so far? Is it the older plain edge or the combo edge version?
if I wiggle mine and pull it hard it comes out but I have to say it doesn't overly concern me :)
Any info on this? What's new on it?
Shouldn't the S stand for Scissors?
I was going to get a cx but now I am waiting!
What's with Leatherman making all these Snowboard related tools?
I just ordered my first multi tool - a Skeletool CX. :)Proud of you!!
I often need a knife and occasionally pliers at work. I could do with a serrated blade and a saw as well, but once I saw the Skeletool everything else looked ugly. I actually prefer the look of the plain Skeletool (it's got that Alien/Terminator look going on) but went for the CX mainly because of the better blade.
I was also sorely tempted by the gold Skele...
Finally I´m in this cool club. :mail:
I coudn´t find any datecode on it but I guess I got the older version of the skeletool cx with serrated knife.
Maybe I will get the other version later on but for now, I gotta stop buying multitools.

Skelarchitool? :salute:
I thought I'd show and tell. Here are two of mine.
The first is a tool that was given to us when we celebrated the success of the first pilot run.
The second tool is the first tool I was able to assemble when I got enough parts off factory tooling to put one together. Notice the carbon fiber scale with a bare SS frame.
Nah, Skeletool was my project. Design through first production. You were ther at the Skeletools' birth!! :o And you probably worked with Glenn Klecker
Nah, Skeletool was my project. Design through first production.
It's funny that they are comming out with the SX. My boss kept telling me I should add a diamond file to the outside of the tool, but I didn't think it would work out well, for the same reasons stated in this thread. Maybe people will find this useful. I can't tell if they got rid of the extra bit. If they traded the file for an extra bit, I think it is a bad idea. I haven't found diamond files to be used as frequently as the bit driver.

On one of my Skeletools, one end of one of the triple back springs is broken off. Is this a common problem? It does not seem to affect the the operation. Can't say I can remember hearing of that before. It'll definitely be covered under LM's warranty though.
Pity they(Leatherman) didn't make a batch of limited edition"Oblivion" Skeletools
Looks like i spoke too soon.
Package arrived today and instead of getting a premium leatherman tool, the guy sent me a kick :-[
So i just won an auction that cost me $60, that was advertised as a new leatherman skeletool CX, and the guy sent me an open boxed, scuffed up leatherman kick with sheath.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/271259191716?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I mean i guess he could argue he supplied an accurate picture since its kinda obvious that isnt a skeletool, but since the thing had skeletool CX in the title and in the description, and no mention of the kick(which again, is worth 1/6th as much) would make me hope whoever has to review the dispute sides with me. Plus, other people were bidding in the above $20 range, which should make it clear everyone was under the impression it was for a real skeletool CX.
This is mine :) . Still my fave MT and edc item

That sux. I hope the issue is resolved for ya.
Wow, ain't that a kick in the teeth! It's crazy that they can make you have to pay the shipping when the scum that wrote the product up wrong gets away free and clear. That sux. I hope the issue is resolved for ya.
I just got paypals decision.... I have to pay to have the thing shipped back to him(with tracking) and i get my original payment minus shipping. So because he screwed me around by intentionally mislabeling the listing, I'm out $22, Canada post makes $22, and the seller is back where he started.
I think its also important to note that you can buy a new kick from home depot for less than $20...

I thought I had posted in here but I guess I didn't. Anyway I got a skeletool in September and love it. I'm fine with the ergonomics except that once I tried to pull a small nail out with the pliers and they hurt my hands like crazy. Other than the now apparent light use pliers I love it!

I've been thinking about getting a Skeletool CX for awhile now, but was wondering what a good price is for them? Amazon has one for $57.12 with free shipping right now.

*edit*
To my door, with taxes and import charges it would be $78.17
Ouch , are you set on the cx ?Sadly yes. I want a PE blade, and I like the look of the CF. For that price I probably won't buy a new one, but I might see if I can do a trade on here.

As of yesterday, I guess I'm eligible for the club! And with a plain edge. very nice indeed.
I received the the Skeletool below as a result of a trade with user NAB. I like the tool so far--it definitely has good "fiddle factor", but it has yet to be proven how useful it will be. I think it will pair well with a SAK such as a Huntsman or Farmer on a lighter-carry day.

Yeah, well keep in mind that the mosquitos in the south are about 1/2 the size of the mosquitos in MI.... They're easier to deal with.
Right hand use is good but try holding it in your left hand. :-\ Not so nice.
Luckily I'm right handed. :D

Meh, it looks a heck of a lot better than mine does. :P
Maybe mine needs some cleaning too? :fugly:
My regular Skele has been kicking ass at the hangar this past week. Cutting up boxes into templates to cut wheel pants, pulling and cutting safety wire, turning the occasional screw. It's perfect. It actually lets me go faster. Any other design (say, the Wingman) I'd be forever digging at nail nicks to pry out drivers and such. Not the Skele. Click, click, you're there.
I'm in, had one for a year / 18 months and do really like it a lot. Thought it was time it posed for the camera!

Not that it matters too much but check out the un-even grind on the blade. Anyone else's like this? Appreciate it will come out over time and sharpening but should be better IMO from the factory.
Atb, Jon.
I know its the Skeletool club but these guys just look so good together.
Anyways here is my Skeletool family.

Hey Everyone,
I owned a first-year run Skeletool CX with combo edge blade; bought it brand-new as soon as it was released. I used it for work and it lived in the pocket of my uniform. Unfortunately, it grew legs and walked away after I let a co-worker borrow it. No one has seen it since, or maybe no one is willing to admit that they have seen it.
Anyway, thanks to a fellow forum member, cowsmilk, I am the proud owner of an original Skeletool CX once more. Thanks, friend!
I am finally able to join this club. For my purposes, and YMMV, the Skeletool is my EDC. :D

Glad to hear that you're back with the Skeletool family :) It is a nice tool and also my EDC (of course paired with my Vic Huntsman)

I was just wondering why they had not made a BO Skeletool CX.
[/quote
Interesting... a blacked out stealth look for the Skeletool. They do have a all SS version of the Skeletool so this should not be difficult. Wonder if they first make the tool and then BO it. Or are the parts BO'd first and then assembled. Anyone know?
Personally I dig the SS with the one sided black scales where the curves show. Ok, I need to get into this club now.
The good news: I found my lost Skeletool.
The bad news: it seems to have shrunk. Or was it always this tiny?

I think I'm finally going to get myself a CX this week. I've had my regular Skeletool for almost a year. What I REALLY want is one of the red ones from REI.The red paint doesn't stay on top good.

Does anyone have both the skeletool and the freestyle, and still use the freestyle. After getting my skeletool I just can't justify carrying the freestyle.
As much as I reach for my screwdrivers, a freestyle would be unacceptable. As a MT, without screw drivers is unforgivable.

wont be able to get the receipt so assuming i wont be able to do it via warranty
My understanding is that even if it was made before 1990 they will still take care of it. LM picked 25 years because they wanted to be different, everyone else had a lifetime warranty, I'm not 100 percent sure.wont be able to get the receipt so assuming i wont be able to do it via warranty
All lm tools made past 1990 are still in warranty, no paperwork required :tu:
Couldn't find this thread yet so I thought I would start one, just found the combo edge cx I've been looking for today brand new, love it already. It's not going to take the place one my belt that's reserved for my Vic spirit but there's prime real estate in my pocket! Took the pics for the great beer thread but this work too
Home Depot had skeletools for $20.00 today
I have it now since 2011, and reuse it since end 2014, because its big plier, the fast to use bottle opener (only for Cola and Limo and the beer for other peaple) and the nice blade which also works great for open packages, Cut Beagels, and other things..

Ok so i need to look after mine :) It's strange how a company can produce such a superb design as the Skeletool & then make a poor quality pouch.
I think it would lose it's skeletal looks if it was all black.
I had purchased a Skeletool right after they were released, but it got missing at a previous job later that year. Just picked up another one off eBay with a broken blade, so after a warranty claim, I'm a member of this club again!

Hi all, new to this site, and wanting to joint the Skeletool club.
Been carrying my 1st gen. CX every day for 8 years now, and still love it. Perfect EDC for office/ city duty imho, with the two most important tools (blade and bottle opener) easily accessible! With basic pliers and drivers thrown in I have all my bases covered, but it's still lightweight enough for pocket carry.

just a standard skeletool with a combo blade which is my first leatherman!
Now a member of this club thanks to a member here who let go of a CX for a very reasonable price. I have been intrigued by the skeletool in the past but never thought of actually pulling the trigger. I have to say, I really like this leatherman as well. I have yet to find a leatherman I don't care for.
I paid a visit to my favourite Leatherman dealer this morning and came away with a couple of new tools. One is the delightful Skeletool.
Does anyone else have a problem with the clip not holding their skeletool well due to being slippery metal? Not quite sure what you mean...are you referring to clipped to a strap or something? As far as riding in my pocket, never had a problem...

Like I said many many times, MTO is a really dangerous place and you guys are all really bad guys. >:D
I have been reading for years people carrying the skeletool and saying that it is a really nice tool though some of them complaining the pliers not strong enough. I didn’t put my eye on this tool coz I thought it was lame  but I was wrong. When I saw this tool before, in showcase or web, I was like… Wingman blade (I was wong  ), Juice Pliers, wave bit drives… OK… pass! I was totally wrong and I didn’t ever like it until a few days before some of you guys brought this thread back to the front page and I saw the nice pictures and people’s comment again, I decided to give it a try.
I went to a local tool dealer and play with the basic skeley a bit and I love it right away. How light, ergonomic, and compact?! However, I don’t like combo blade and I give the CX a try. Once it is on my hand, I did not want to let go it. How can I miss this tool? How can I not having this tool???! When I read the spec, it’s a 2.6 inch, 6.6cm blade and I though it was a wingman/sidekick style but it wasn’t. It is a serious blade, a thick and sturdy serious blade that I would never expect in a MT. It is not a compromised blade on other MT with compromised strength, compromised grip and compromised thickness. It is a 154cm lockable folder with a pair of OK pliers and bit driver. With that knife, I don’t actually need a folder. Its knife is even thicker than the one on surge, and it’s almost the same thickness as the Chinese cleaver in my kitchen! Never expect a MT would have such a serious blade with excellent grip.
The juice size pliers don’t looks strong so I don’t think I am going to do anything heavy. I think it is a light to med duty pliers.
I’ll try to carry it a bit these few days but I don’t think it will replace by rebar as a working day EDC as the pliers looks a bit weak and I use pliers quite a lot. Despite this, the skeley is still an ideal tool for normal days outside like casual weekend hiking, vocational city trips, or barbecue party~! I have a knife for cutting food, a pair of nice pliers for picking hot stuffs and a cap lifter for beer! What else do I need for a party? Nothing!
So far, the only complain is the stiff pliers. It’s still very stiff when using it. I’ll put it for a WD40 bath and oil it and see if it goes better.
I'm confused about the bit about the blade on MT's, the blade on my Charge (which I believe is an identical profile to that of the Wave) is fully as tough and as big as my Skeletool blade.
Congrats aurabattler  The Skeley is awesome for sure and I think that the shape of the blade makes the Skeley my favorite blade of any MT as well :like: I am sure I have used the knife on it more than anything over the years :tu::cheers:

My intial impressions are good. I like the Knife a lot. It opens very smoothly and has a nice shape and even grind. The screwdriver works great as well. the pliers seem good for their size. One thing I didn't like was the way it rides in the pocket with the clip so I carried it using a pocket dangler and that worked great. Much more comfortable :tu:

Awesome carry aurabatt :like: :like: BTW what happened to your finger ??? :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :DHaha. I was honing the kizer Gemini with the sharpmaker UF rod. I didn't use the stand and held the rod on hand to run the knife on it. I do it all the time but maybe I was too sleepy or maybe I lost my mind.. I ran it too far and too fast. A freshly sharpened edge had a big kiss on my thumb and index finger. The finger nails on the thumb blocked the blade but the index got a sideday kiss where no nail to block. A deep kiss. >:D
:ahhh :ahhh :ahhhThanks my friend
Hope it heals quickly buddy :salute: and be careful :o :D

Skeletool today at work
Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum. Let me start with asking your advise on my Skeletool.
I own my Skeletool for about 6 months now and I have not been using it much in this past period. I wanted to start carrying it as my new EDC few weeks back when I realized that one side (the one that has the clip belt on) clicks nicely to its place when in open position, however the other side (with the knife) does not click into the open position. It's just simply moves into its place but no click in at the last moment . Because of this issue, when I try to close the tool, the side with knife closes completely, before I can start closing the other side. I also realized that the pliers are not as smooth as it is on my Wave and Rebar. I tried to lubricate it with light machine oil, but did not recognized almost any difference.
My questions are:
- Does Skeletool differs this much in quality compared to Wave or Rebar?
- Is it normal that one side clicks in its place and the other is not?
- Is it normal that the pliers are not smooth even after oiling them?
Please let me know your recommendation/advice what to try/do next.
Thanks a lot
worth repeating

Hi does anyone know when they started putting date codes on skeletools ? I recently examined two new tools in 2016 dated boxes , one tool had the date code 1016 the other tool had no date at all.
Cheers

What do you mean by low? That's actually perfect lockup. You want about 40%-50% on something like that because with use the liner will start to drift over to the right.Ok ok, understood... thanks for your help!

Thanks Duncan, good to know.
Ya, it's funny that I've never come across any problem reading through forums or online reviews. Only on the actual LM web site, and again only for the one bit kit. Go figure :)
I've been carrying a SAK for most of this year, but I dug my Skeletool CX out tonight. Think I'll start carrying it for awhile. I've missed it! I recently sold my first year Skeletool.

Oh no! :o How?I was trying to fix a cabinet door. The screw was getting loose to the point that the door was about to come off. I guess I tried to tighten it too much  I heard a click and now it won’t lock in place.
If a girl can break a skeletool then I definitely don't need one.Haha I’m sending it in for repair. Going back to my trusty Spirit RT.

Awesome looking Skele!!!
Thanks!
That is truly one of the most Tuxedo and pretty tools I've seen in my life.

Just out of curiosity, I have a couple of freestyle from REI. The pliers came extremely stiff. Does it affect yours? I suspect the BO coating maybe the culprit.

Yip mine is a little stiff too. I gave it a workout with some mineral oil and a good amount of gunk came out of the pliers. They are still stiff but much better than in the beginning.

Mine originally was a keyhanger & coin pouch. I cut out the keyhanger part, and now have a double zipped tool pouch.
Fits Skeletool or Spirit, AAA flashlight, SAK, or whatnot I stuff in there. Makes it easy to swap from bags.

This is one club I'll be joining soon! Just ordered a standard one in blue, and ordered the bit kit to compliment it. I might be be in a minority here but I honestly like combo edge blades. Since I'm going on vacation I want a tool that is compact and has all that I need in one package so I don't have everything scattered. Having the half serrated blade is good for me because I like having serrations. I normally carry a multitool with a serrated blade+ a folder.

G'Day,
I'm in too. Got this beauty from a fellow inmate.
I have never really bonded with the Skeletool. I find the pliers a little "light" and the blade does not cut quite the way I like. I have had two and both became gifts for friends. This one, however, is a good looking tool and it may get a third chance...
Cheers
Pete

It's unfortunate that Leatherman keeps cutting costs, but the Skeletool CX is still so useful. I am ordering a new one just because it's function is outstanding for my EDC needs.
I received the Skeletool CX directly from Leatherman and it also uses the cheap molded pivot screws. Guess they've just cheaped out on the build quality of the tool. That is disappointing to hear. And yet Tim still charges insane retails for this line. This is the kind of shady practices that can result in price controls.....
I did pick some DMAX edition. Did not know what that is Think it is some tv channel where are some survivor series etc. It has some red / orange, else I think normal model. I have freestyle cx but maybe I stick with combo blade with this one.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190429/3fa91940985c0cd6fc0ac053ebed81be.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190429/03e7b286b094f2631b737cdd4d7abf99.jpg)I did manage a long time sticking with combo blade.. Though now freestyle has that combo. Maybe need to find all serrated blade like in resque tool for that. All or nothing. Good morning folks, Has any of you Skeletool owners considered a “Tip Up Pocket Clip” with an added deep pocket solution for theirs? Iâ€ve looked at the “Tip Up Pocket Clip Made by Metro's Q-Branch” which is 3D printed but like the idea of a deep pocket solution to add to its functionality.
Thanks and have a great day.
Man! those look great! did you get the hardware from him?Yes. I just contacted him after ordering and he sent the hardware for free,
I am really starting to hate my little Nikon Coolpix camera. A major ding...can't control the flash to my liking. I have only two options, off or auto. Another issue, I can't see the LCD if I angle the camera, or what I can see on it is outside the viewing angle of the LCD itself. :facepalm:Awesome collection. There are some very cool colors there.
I took this with my cellphone.

So I lost my Skeletool standard.
It’s been my EDC for 2 years... And going back to a SAK spartan just wont cut it anymore.
The last two months have sucked Searching every nook & researching and looking for a suitable replacement tool...
I even trawled where we set up on the beach for surf sessions... went and handled the rebars, crunch, The new P2 and P4’s which just somehow suck cause they way overpriced... the free SX even started checking out the SOGs... But somehow they just didn’t sit right in the hand.... was about to hit buy on a SOG powerpint and a medium Honeybadger straight edge flipper when I lost my card down the side of our leather recliner... flipped the whole thing over and blow me over with a feather!!. part tucked, part clipped to the inside of an interior hem was my missing Skele!!! .... couldn’t have been more stoked than if it was a returning pet!
That was yesterday...
24 hrs later armed with a Dremel, some frogz Eggs and a need to Customise my precious EDC so it can’t slip into someone else’s pocket...
This is what I’ve come up with.
Rem pocket clip - ergonomics
Solid carabiner - feel
Landy press-studs - personality
Mag bit holder extension - for 4x4 and Bike work
I’ve grown to love the 420C combo blade... being able to whittle a branch and cut through synthetic tow rope one-handed whilst chassis deep in marsh is a thing of beauty a straight edge blade just doesn’t pull off quite so effortlessly.
I’d love a diamond file though... anyone pulled off a Skeletool SX with a spare bit holder mod? That might just the perfect tool...
Else I’ll just have to save for a crunch when the going gets tough...

Congrats on getting one :woohoo: :like: :like:
They are very nice tools and I love the dual color one you have  :like:
….didn’t realize the skeletool was that small.
Not sure where to post this but….
Is the large screwdriver holder on the Skeletool similar with what’s on the Signal? Something about having a ‘lock’ that goes on the groove on the middle of the flat LM bits? Does that question make sense?
Or is the large screwdriver bit holder the same across the line?
...some more pics...
Oh boy, not even a week into the month and the budget spent. But seriously, I had to safe this little guy. It was the last one the shop had in stock.
Yes, brand new it is :ahhh
A pitty they ditched the carbon fibre on the CX shortly after.
It carries really nice and I like the overall design. The bit driver is well made. The knife blade is stoud but slices well.
I'm diggin' this Skele thing :tu:
Besides the discontinued CX with carbon fiber, are all the spare bit holder pieces plastic? The stainless one looks like it could be metal? TIA!
Hello Skeletool owners,Aren't all the non- carbon fibre ones aluminium? Or did I just make that up somewhere along the line?

Aren't all the non- carbon fibre ones aluminium? Or did I just make that up somewhere along the line?
If it's aluminum then a magnet won't stick to that either
That is awful :-\ they sure have cut some corners by doing that
Joined the party! Decided to get a CX just for the straight edge 154cm blade. Modified the stock pocket clip by straightening it out, shortening it, and putting in new bends so it could be installed on the opposite end. Now the blade can be carried tip-up by preference. Sits at the perfect height for my jeans coin pocket.
Not going to lie, I'm pretty upset that my CX has a plastic spare bit holder in the handle instead of the discontinued carbon fiber. I really want it metal though. Do all the other color options have metal instead? The coyote tan is looking pretty good....
Last pics, no clip...
That white one is killer, haven’t seen that colour way before
"Carbon fiber" wasn't on the description anywhere, but it looks like it is.I have no idea how to tell if it's carbon fiber or just looks like it. Whatever it might be, it looks really good!
I picked up a new Skeletool... "Carbon fiber" wasn't on the description anywhere, but it looks like it is.

Very nice, Rich :tu: :like:
The checkered pattern is the Carbon fiber on the Cx and now the newer ones are just smooth and plain in that area :-\
Hi all, just got a skeletool to try for camping/hiking when I don't need to carry too much. Now I need a sheath. I want something with a belt clip (not loop) that's not too bulky.
Good gracious, Rich :ahhh

Just lay them all outside and post the coordinates - $6,000 of Leatherman tools must be visible from space!
One year ago today I created my account here. My favorite multitool of over 20 years had just been stolen, and I was doing research on new tools and how to possibly modify them. Thanks to you drug dealers, I quickly succumbed to a tool-buying frenzy. When it was obvious I was out of control, I started a spreadsheet with all of the tools I was purchasing. With my one-year anniversary here, I decided to calculate how much I have spent on Leathermans over the last year. Not counting tax, shipping, accessories, and tools I gave away as gifts, I spent $6,001.03 on just Leatherman tools :ahhh Yikes :ahhh The total for all tools including Gerber, Victorinox, SOG, etc is very sobering...
This Skeletool was the first tool I purchased thanks to you all, and it's still one of my favorites :tu:

Small batches are fine :D I do much the same but my wife is still getting suspicious :ahhh after this many years I think she may have finally figured me out though :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
A collection pic? So you want me to spread out all of my tools then shock my wife too?
Ok, I'll have to take pics in small groups :tu:
I don't see how she could possibly know :to: :dunno:
Rich a very late happy anniversary.
I had a spreadsheet as well but I got lazy to keep it up. At this point I have no clue as to what I spent on all sharps plus other gear.
As for the Skeletool. I got one early on and didn't didn't bond with it. I was interesting in it so I got another this time a CX. After carrying it on and off something clicked. Its a really good tool and its carried from time to time.
I'll be joining this club.Apart from the early iterations, the CX is carbon fibre and plain edged, or do you mean you got one of the newer ones that has just plain black aluminium instead of carbon fibre?
I wanted the one with carbon fiber, but REI didn't have it as an option, so I bought the plain edged version, should be here early next week. :tu:
Welcome luca. Nice pics.
What bits do you carry with your Skele? I still have the bits that came with mine. They've done well as I dont carry my Flat bit cards.
