Title: Lest We Forget
Post by: Grant Lamontagne on November 11, 2010, 02:42:41 PM
Terry Kelly - A Pittance of Time (Official Version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kX_3y3u5Uo#)

We should all take a moment today to remember those who have fought and died for their country- any country- and for those who still serve, God bless you.

For all those who stood proud and strong, ready to make that sacrifice, please know that I stand behind you, and for all those who don't stand behind their troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.

Lest We Forget- I will always wear my poppy with pride.

No disrespect intended.  Hats off to all vets from all countries! :salute: :salute: :salute:

On a side note, has anyone seen the movie "Taking Chance" with Kevin Bacon?  Great film....

Happy Veterans' Day to vet and all, especially the families of vets who support them when they are so far away.

Thank you to all that have served, or to those who are serving. And to the ones that have fallen, lest we forget.

This is my uncle Clay who was a bomber pilot in WW2.  He is still kicking and a spitfire to talk to!

My Dad was a submarine vet of WWII.  Those who have served their countries deserve our respect, whether they be American, or otherwise.  Being willing to put oneself in harms way takes a person of character.  :salute:

Lest We forget..indeed.

I have served, my father too and his father before him. It is the sacrifices of the ones that have gone before that protects the freedoms of the ones to come...

To all that have served and still serve.... :salute:

It's too easy to forget sadly.... by poppy is rather soggy after being out in the weather this evening, but I'm still wearing it with pride.

I was listening to someone on the radio saying they observed people completely ignoring the 2 minutes silence earlier. They were just chatting away on phones and paying no attention to what was clearly important to others. It's sad just how ignorant some folks are. They wouldn't be able to stand around chatting if it wasn't for a lot of incredible people who have ensured their freedom.

At the risk of getting political, the freedom to choose what we respect and what we don't is what they died for.  If some choose to exercise that right by ignoring days like this, then that is their choice.  We don't have to like it, we may want to beat them into the ground for not showing respect, but it's their choice.  To force them to honor the sacrifice that soldiers have fought and died for makes that sacrifice worthless, and I for one, won't have that either.

Although, at times I do see things like "Jersey Shore," Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears and Lindsay Lohan (etc) and wonder of the guys storming the beaches of Normandy knew that would be the results of them giving their lives, would they still have done it?

Since I was instructed by Benner to remove my signature, and as I didn't, he (and/or his cronies) removed it for me.

It read: (removed by Bob)  ....just put it back in :D

I said I would quit the place (with no fuss) but recent events in London made my blood boil. And I decided to throw this out on all forums I have access to - not been banned from here - just gagged.

While our country was remembering the war heroes - this was also going on in London...LONDON! at the same time to cause as much hurt as possible.

Is this a sign of things to come in America?

(more stuff removed by Bob)

On this happy topic I bid three all farewell  :salute:

Sorry to see you go Paul, but I'm sure you knew this was coming mate. :( As was discussed with you, MTorg is not the place for political, religious, or hateful discussions about any group. :-\

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming; A hearty thanks to all who serve, both past and present. :salute: :salute:
