So I find I need to fine-tune the pivots on my Wave occasionally, but carrying 2 dedicated torx screwdrivers is not very practical. ???
So I pushed 2 of the T10 security torx bits into a couple of aluminum cable terminators and I now have some portable drivers I can clip on my keyring and use anytime to tweak my Wave (or even do a field strip). :tu:
I also use these cable terminators for MTs with knurled pivots as they’re easy to resize to push over the rivet, and soft enough not to scratch the handle.
So a tool ‘hack’ for Multitools. :salute:

This is purely ingenious

Cool idea...
Do you not use loctite?
-
Not in the cable terminators. It’s a press-fit that’s tight enough to use on the Wave, but I can pull out the bits and change them for hex bits if needed. They’re aluminum and designed to crimp on a think cable (like a welding machine).
-
No I mean in the Wave pivots. Perhaps they wouldn't need fine tuning if Loctite was used. :dunno:
-
Sure, Loctite on the pivots but the tools sometimes are a little lose and the plier heads snags when closing. :)

Nice idea Max :tu:

Thanks guys. :hatsoff:
Used yesterday to strip a couple of PSTs that were in bad need of clean. Needed to use a heat gun to free up the pivots on one. The advantage of using these terminator tools is that I could release the pivots while the tool was still hot. :tu:

Break down, cleaning, sharpening, re-edging the driver tips, assembly and tuning of multi tools. One of the best feelings of satisfaction. :like:

I just love the look of a newly cleaned old school LM :dd: they have such a nice new look to them, almost better than when new :like:

Thanks Poncho. Yes, there is an attraction to these old school LMs. They seem to have a little more character than their modern cousins. :like:
