I think this will be a good one
http://www.niteize.com/product/DoohicKey-Multi-Tool.asp

Horrible name, but that seems to be the trend these days.
It looks interesting though, and knowing the way Nite Ize mass produced everything the price should be pretty good on it.

I totally agree.

I wonder how much it'll cost once it gets over here :)

They could have put a smaller screwdriver or a philips in the round part, opposite the large screwdriver. Not much more material and it would made it more versatile...
-
Looks nice IMHO
But I don't think it will change Keyton or Brewzer from my keychain :D :D
That said.... :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :ahhh :ahhh
I want one!! :D :D :D
-
Maybe I'll have to check with our good buddy Bob at Pock-Its and see if he'd be willing to do a group buy for us since he's a Nite Ize distributor. :D

-
If you do a group buy on that, count me in. That would go perfectly on my key ring. :D

That doesn't help with the wrench sizes though. ;)

Anyone have more infor on these, release date or if it will be available in metric sizes too?
At $5 it seems like a neat addition.

Being made by NiteIze it's probably pretty good quality. They make a lot of great products. :tu:
-
Isn't that the brand that makes S-Biners? The packaging looks similar.
It looks like a Brewzer.

Yes, same brand. :)

Honestly, I don't know what you guys see in these things. You've got a SAK in your pocket, a Micra on your keychain and probably a Wave/Spirit/MP600 on your belt.
Where will you have your keys but you won't have your SAK or multitool? Or are you planning on hanging it from a nipple ring?
Can someone explain the attraction of these things?
-

Well, with some designs, I like the thought that went into it, same as regular MT's. I can like it, because it has a lot of features crammed into a small, flat piece of plastic.
Another nice thing is the fact that almost all of these things are not only bladeless, but also just -really- un-dangerous looking. Perfect for travelling :)
I do get your point, though, and I don't really have any OPMT's (well, I do have my PocketWrenchII, but that complements an MT quite well, I think)
-
My favorite part of this tool is the price. A one piece tool anyone can afford.
-
I admit to owning a PocketWrench II, but I also openly admit I've never actually used it. Seems like something cool to add to a Wave pouch, but I'm not really sure I'd ever use it.
I like the $5 price, but I wonder if I...and I'm speaking for only myself here, wouldn't be better off spending that money on an Eat'n tool.
-
Eat n' Tool all the way!!!

Nipple rings? Sure, it's because they usually have a girl attached...

Reasons I like one-piece tools (I'll refer to my PWII) include, in no particular order:
1) I like having (and have used) mine as a small prybar. You can put a lot more force on it when you don't have a pivot to protect.
2) It has some functions that my primary tool often does not, including wrench and ruler.
3) It will generally pass security checkpoints, which any tool with a knife blade will not. I have taken it on commercial flights on more than one occasion. I did once have an overzealous security guard at a courthouse insist on keeping it (along with my SAK, but I expected that) while I went about my business in the building, although both were returned to me when I left the premises per standard procedure.
-
I don't like one piece tools generally ... but I like the look of this ...
It has a functional simplicity which seems to be lost on other tools. Many seem to try too hard to be different or cram in functions whereas this seems to have found the "simple but effective" sweet spot
-
Eat n' Tool all the way!!!
Those don't tend to fit on keychains so well.
-
me likey...maybe, just MAYBE...a perfect replacement for the shard hihihi...lets see where my wallet takes me
-
I should have a DooHickey coming in the mail.
I can't wait to see it and get some pics for everybody.
I'm still excited. This should be a good little tool.
-
Where did you get it and at what price are they available?
Looking forward to the pics.

Interesting one-piece tool.
Also looking forward to the pics and your impressions!

I just picked one up on the eBays for $4 new. It's a great tool, and would still be good at five times the price. Tiny, solid, useful features, nothing unnecessary. I particularly like the wide flathead/prytool.
I've had major problems with some Nite Ize gear (digging through a massive pile of mulch for a car key that fell off an s-biner had me cursing the company for quite some time), but this one's a winner.
I'm going to pick up a bunch for Xmas gifts.

I now have one on the way to me also.

That's awesome both of you.
I think my package form niteize got lost or something.
I'm looking forward to seeing some doohickey pics..

First thoughts
I like it.
I think the way it hooks into my keys and comes off so easily is slick.
-
(http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/JAfromMn/temporary_zps4e90d91a.jpg)
I used the doohickey to install a outlet cover just because it was the easiest tool I had on me to grab. Worked just fine.
-
Glad you like it. Mine's somewhere over the ocean right now. :ahhh

the little carabineer makes it a handy little sucker.
id like to see them make a few similar tools.
there on the right track . :multi:
I Like that it costs 5 bucks. UNREAL made in China and made well i can't believe it.
I'm going to keep it on my keys and enjoy using it and not worrying if I scratch up my key chain tool.
did I say I like the price yet lol.
its 5 bucks. AWESOME.

$5. Might have to look into getting one of these little buggers.

Doohickey thoughts
I'm still impressed with this little tool. :)
this is a true keychain tool. Its about the same size as a key.
it can't weigh much more than a key. I'd say its about 10 grams.
I've had a few :P keychain tools that cost way way more that don't ride as good on my key ring. I'm not going to say one works better than the other. But this cheap little pry tool works as good as the rest I've owned and carried /used.
I hope they keep on making these and more keychain tools. :multi:

I wish! I'm sure I will buy one (because of you) :twak: , but I will most likely have to wait until after Christmas. :(

Stocking Stuffer .

I now have one on the way to me also.
And now I'm mad. The seller marked it as shipped and sent me the tracking number on the 19th. I checked it numerus times but it wasn't working so I guessed he sent me the wrong number. And I wait. I was just clearing my inbox and decided to check again. Well it's working now. ::) He finally shipped it on friday, 18 days after he marked it as shipped.
-
Does anyone know of any brick and mortar chains that have these guys?
I'm sick of paying for shipping.

+1
What I've spent in postage I could have a gold plated limited edition black oxyde coated thingie...

-
And I finally received this one today after almost a month. Or more exactly 11 days after the seller shipped it. ::)
I very much like this tool. Very simple, light weight and worth every penny. :salute: The carabiner gate clip is quite strong so it won't fall of your keyring if you decide to carry it like that. I wish the LM Style CS/PS gate clip would be as strong.
I'll do a proper write up once I've had a bit of time to play with it use it in real life situations and take some pics with comparable sized items.
-
Just picked one up in Big 5 for $4.99

excellent.
I'm glad they finally made it to stores.
I'm still carrying /using mine . Its a great little tool
-
It is a very nice tool for its price (un-like other overly-priced OPMT out there).
Yea, I know, this is a two piece tool.
-
My key set with integrated DoohicKey, which now has light, blade, screw drivers, carabiner, scraper, pry bar, ruler & wrench (questionable) functions, and it is easy to attach to belt loop, stay secure, low profile and quiet.

nice setup.
I might just have to copy you.
-
Thanks, do it before I patented it.
-
This little tool has been great.
its replaced almost all my keychain tools.
I kinda wish it was a bit thicker but it would also add weight.
I haven't bent it yet so it must be thick enough :tu:
its a great little box ripper , lottery ticket scratcher, tire thread cleaner depth checker, flat screwdriver, bottle opener, carabineer, pry tool.
what its not
its
not a great 1/4 bit holder, not the best wrench, not a Phillips driver but you can turn one of you have too, I also think I could bend or break it if I tried.
overall all
it kicks ass.
it weigh's nothing, carries great and costs much less than similar keychain tools
I'd buy one just like it again if I needed to replace it.
-
I saw it today at a local hardware store as i was looking for electric bug zappers. I'll definitely grab one when i go there soon. Good that the hardware strore's just 5 minutes away from my apartment. Nice pics JA!

This little tool has been great.
It's an excellent value for about $6. I used the DoohicKey as a micro pry tool and as an impromtu finger nail cleaner.

I received mine recently...nice little thingy.

nice. I know you'll like it.
I got a leatherman 5 I thought I would replace the doohickey with it's but it only took about a week bwi put the doohickey back on my keys.
it rides so much better. Its about percent for me.
-
I just got a Doohickey a few days ago too. It seems like a nice tool. :tu:
-
Picked one up as well, very useful little thing so far.
-
It's back on my keys again.
-
Except for "Made in China", I like it :tu: :gimme:
-
Don't remind me.
I've been doing my best not to remember that it's made in China.
I like everything about it but that.
if I replace it with a different tool it will be for mostly that reason.

My local Hess is selling these for $3.99. The price is right but when I noticed them I already checked out. Might go back tomorrow. Made in China did turn me off when I handled it though. :-\

"Hess", as in the gas stations?
-
Yes, that Hess!
They had a shelf of Nite Ize products. The S-Biner, some keychain clips and other stuff. When I was walking out, I glanced over and saw the DoohicKey and recognized it's shape. Sure enough, there it was.
If there hadn't have been a long line and I was already checked out, I'd have picked it up but I was in a hurry. If I make it back to that neck of the woods today, I'll stop by.
$3.99 is nothing to complain about.

There are 3 Hess Stations in my neck of the woods(1-Depford, 1-Pennsauken, 1-Mount Holly). I'll eyeball them.
3 stations should better my odds

Sadly, my searching was no joy
Pennsauken Hess-is now a BP station
Depford Hess- boarded up closed
Mount Holly Hess- no Nite-ize products at all. And to add insult to injury, They were also out of Diet Mountain Dew :ahhh
-
I got a black one for $5 from Bass Pro shops. It's a neat little tool.
-
My much better half bought me one as an add on so she could get free shipping. Nice gadget. I have a large number of their Sbiners I picked up at Home Depot a few years ago when they closed them out for almost nothing.
-
I was able to get a Doohikey from one of the members here, and I thank you!!!:salute: (I won't mention their name so as not to put them on the spot)
Quality, for it's price, is fantasic!! And should handle its intended uses quite nicely :tu:
There are only 2 negatives:
1- It's made in China,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nuff said
2- The carabiner clip spring, is a wee bit small for my big thumbs to operate. Plus, that same spring is stiffer to open than the clip springs on ther Niteize products I own/use.
Other than that. For its price, it is a quality that will pay for itself many times over. And that won't be hard to do!! :tu: :tu:
-
I like mine!
-
Can anyone report on the wrench function. I know it's small so leverage will be limited, but is it half way decent? Better yet, can anyone compare it to the wrench on some the Leatherman By the Number tools (not the Piranha, who's bigger size puts it in a different league).
:salute:
-
I have seen them in some Home Depots. I might have to pick one up since the free Leatherman 6's are out of stock.
-
It's been on my keys for about 2 weeks now, only occasion to use it was trying to lever a sliding door back onto its track, and the tiny tool was a bit light in the pants for that....
-
Have mine dangling with my ID lanyard for about a month already. I did sharpen the tapered corner a bit more so I can use it as a box opener. I've mostly been using it to lift staple wires at work.
For one thing, I see this as a great stocking stuffer to give the guys at work.
-
 Cap lifter doesn't work
