I went to a small local air show tonight. It was great fun. Here are a few pictures I took when I was there.

It was enjoyable. At least the weather cooperated, oh and the black flies enjoyed their feast.

awesome shots :tu: ........as usual :)

F86's and Strikemaster's, what more do you need :tu:
Hornet's are fine, I just don't much like modern-ish aircraft :)
-
Great shots once again Chako. :tu: I got to go to a local Air Show last year with my stepsons. We had a great time.
-
I love how the Canadians have those fake cockpit painted below the cockpit :)

Excellent shots mate, really great job.
I remember when I used to go to air shows in the UK, but I've not seen one for ages. I'll have to start looking for them (it can't be hard).
Really liking the shot of those aircraft mate, thanks for posting :tu:

Very nice shots, Chako! What camera did you use in those pics?
-
Impressive quality pictures :tu:

I know very little about planes but I know that you take great pics of them!
The formation stuff is so damn impressive - how do they not smash each other up all the time? Surely they start off being not so bloody clever at it and have to practise

Very clever they are too! I've flown a sesner (sp?) breilfy when someone let me erm... steer?!
I'd love to be able to do it properly, it's an amazing feeling :D
-
I'd love to do it too, especially in a sail plane or a solar panelled dirigible :tu:

Yeah, the snowbirds are Canada's National Aerobatic team. They are all from the best of the best that Canada's air force has to offer. They do put on a great show.
The planes they fly are very old. They started using them back in 71, and stopped training with them back in 00. They are thinking about replacing the planes…but it is the planes that give them their iconic image to Canadians.
Here is their web site for the curious.

They aren't doing the Dayton Air Show this year..but that show has a financial crunch. The year I was there the Snowbirds and the Thunderbirds were the star of the show. Those first and second generation jets have a soul and character that the current generation can't match

Note the painted cockpit under the pilot!!!!!
-
Tut ::) couldn't you see that? :P :D
-
That false canopy was a Canadian innovation for their CF-18s,and so initially successful in confusing observers that it was adopted by some other air forces flying the Hornet.
