This is a contest that could only take place at MTO! :D
This is a replica of the bones that make up a normal human foot:

There are 24 of them, and I have broken at least 6 that I know of. Your job is to guess which ones I have broken. You get one guess every 24 hours, and this contest is open until Monday, at which point the first dozen people that have correctly guessed a bone that I have broken will win a limited edition Multitool.org sticker!
I want the proper, medical term for it too, not just "third toe from the left" or similar, so you may need to Google feet and bones, but I suggest that you do so with Safe Search on, or else it could get a little weird.
There you have it- one in four chance of winning every 24 hours- can it get any easier than that? :D

Your ankle bone (talus) ? And probably some metatarsalia.
-
Fifth metatarsal. (Only one I remember as that’s the most recent one I broke)

I broke (or rather, crushed) my ankle bone in a motorcycle accident.
The doctors had to fix it with screws and nails.
-
Fibula ?
-
Fibula ?
That´s not a part of the foot Glen.
Even if Grant probably did break his fibula.
-
Calceneus
Wow! 5 breaks.
-
Hmm. I'll guess the talus today.
Hope y'all are doing good around here!
-
One guess at a time guys, you can't just list bones! :pok:
Great to see you again CacherX4- it's business as usual around here! :D

The first little piggy, also known as the distal phalanx of the big toe.
-
My first guess: a Lisfranc fracture of the second metatarsal. (Common sports injury)

I don't know Def very well, but I imagine that he could find a way to break his Navicular. Problems with this bone can cause lameness in horses.....so....sort makes sense.....
-
1st metatarsal

You sure it was a Doctor?
-
Any metatarsals left?... Fourth metatarsal?
-
You sure it was a Doctor?
Well it worked. They were removed three months later when the bone had healed.
Real surgical steel. I still have them somewhere.
-
The last little piggy, also known as the distal phalanx of the little toe.
-
I'll say talus
As it's the only ankle bone I know
Why? ....... I once had a sub-talar dislocation of my foot (compound) which apparently is very very unusual
But I think it would not be a common one to break as it is a solid block of bone in the middle of the ankle at the bottom of the tibia - The longer toe bones are much more likely to break!

:iagree: surely everyone’s stubbed their little toe hard enough to have broken this atleast once in their life.
-
I'll try Lateral Cuneiform for $500 Alex

I know, right?
-
I'll take the lateral malleolus. A friend of mine broke that playing soccer and I never forgot the name.

His name was Jeff.
Oh, you knew him too, did you?
:D :D
-
We still allowed guesses?
So far I have Second metatarsal and Navicular. I'll up the ante with the Cuboid.
-
The second metatarsal.

I think I have all these covered now: 1st/medial cuneiform

Congrats to all of the winners. Surprised that Grant hasn't broken any toes, but I guess there's always next year. :2tu:
-
Wow! Congrats to all the other winners.
-
Right - So the bone I said you were unlikely to break ..... you broke :ahhh - But I still win :woohoo: :D
I must admit my statement was based on absolutely zero medical (or other) knowledge
Anyway inspired by this contest - I looked up the talus on Wiki a few days ago - And discovered that the talus is quite commonly broken :twak:
So much for my medical knowledge !! :o
Thanks Grant for the GAW :tu:
-
Congrats to all of the winners. Surprised that Grant hasn't broken any toes, but I guess there's always next year. :2tu:
I believe that I have broken toes, but as they are officially un-diagnosed I didn't feel it was safe to count them. These are just the bones I have actual documentation for. :D
If we went for all the bones I have broken overall, the list would be somewhat longer, but the ribs and metacarpals probably make the list a bit too long.
