Title: What do you HATE seeing in review videos?
Post by: N_N_R on April 22, 2014, 07:39:57 AM
For example, I hate it when flashlight reviewers would shine their lights RIGHT in front of the camera and blind me, trying to show how cool the modes are. Well, WTF, would you do that if you want people to enjoy your video and feel comfortable while watching.

I also dislike it when someone all of a sudden decides to change the angle from which they're shooting, takes the camera and starts hovering around with it making me feel dizzy quite literally... lol.

And I especially hate those close-up reviews (the very reviews I like) where people show the item reviewed and their hands with long, ugly, dirty nails......  If you're gonna show them to the world, make your nails presentable... :megaslap:

Too long videos, with detailed unboxing, where more time is spent in opening/describing the box than using the tool.

Videos where the tool is not used or shown properly so that you have to just hear a description, looking at a the same tool, from the same angle all the time.

All of the above and bad lighting and one hand manipulation of the tool because the other hand (the one more affected by the Parkinson's disorder) holds the camera.
Yet a bad video review is better than no review because it still gives some info on the tool.

Yeah, I agree that bad video is better than no video :D

But there are just some things that make me go to another video or another page immediately, without even watching the "bad" one till the end...

For me, it's bad video and sound quality.     Bad/dirty fingernails also bugs me.  If you're going to have your hands in focus all of the time, one would think you'd want clean, presentable hands.

I hate when someone leaves what they're reviewing sitting there and don't touch it until the end. If I wanted to look at a stationary picture I would look at an actual picture!

I'm glad to see I'm not too guilty of many of these, though I am off to check the condition of my nails in my videos. :-[

I don't mind 'initial impressions' per se, but I also think labelling them as reviews is misleading, especially if there is no follow-up.   Look at it this way; just how credible would a car review be from someone who hasn't actually driven it really be?

Unboxing; I really, really don't need to see the box it arrived in thanks very much.  So long as it protects the item until I get my hands on it, I just don't care.

Gareth, off-topic but I am always amused and annoyed by people reviewing items on amazon, giving them 5 stars and saying that they have just received the item and the initial impressions are good....

How can you give 5 stars to something you have not even used yet...  Are they desparate for attention or just do not understand what they are doing to others by giving top marks to a product based on its looks/box it came in.

(same goes for people who give bad marks to the product based on the fact that it took too long to arrive/ordered the wrong size etc)

I have to agree with all the points already made: dreadful lighting, shaky hand-held camera-phone video, rambling script (or lack of) and obscuring the product with arm, head etc. The best reviews I`ve seen on the Tube are by a guy from Germany, I think his name is Stefan Schmalhaus(?). Excellent lighting, camera on a tripod, accurate and concise description of the product and a modicum of humour. What makes the other reviews look even more awful and his so much better is that 1) English is not his first language and 2) I think he even shows his camera/lighting setup in his blog or on another video. Oh dear.

My personal pet hate is when they spend too much time showing the blade!!
I'm more interested in the build quality, especially if I'm researching pocket knives as I currently am. I want to see the backside, check for gaps, flush joints etc etc. The Last thing is the damn blade, obviously I already now what the blade is, that's the reason why I'm watching the damn video, or worse the paper cut test... WTF :ahhh   :bnghd: :bnghd:

Any review longer than 10 minutes - If you can't say it concisely and neatly think harder and re-record - I don't have time for longer.

Unboxings - What a waste of time - As many of you have said - Except maybe the limited editions??

Reviewers who say stuff like "Um err I really like this tool" - and not much more than that.
So what  .... Tell me what it does and your experiences of using it.

Gareth - Loved your Rebar review - This was pretty much a perfect review for me :-)
Oh and BTW - Also loved you dulcit tones - reminded me of Alba - even if you do come from the wrong end of the M8  :D

All thee above for me as well.  I dont care for reviews with gloves on unless you are showing how the tool can be used with gloves on.  Bad camera angles and low quality sound lately have been driving me madddd.

I do like comparisons showing the tool related to everyday objects.  I also like either real world use opinion or actual real world usage footage rolled in.  Stefan does a great job with his reviews, I love how he says pocket  :).

Gloves never bothered me. Even quality not so much. Some people just can't afford the tool and the camera I figure. The younger one more so. It the unprepared one with tons of ummms and uhhs.
I know if I ever did one, I would have to wear gloves because people would not like to see my hands. They are so torn up, dry, stained with oil and grease. And that's after I would my hands with lava soap. Lmao!

I totally agree with this.  I dont have a huge issue with hands being ugly or dirty so much.  Heck I work with my hands so I like reviews as I mentioned from a real world view.  I don't care for the swearing or bashing of other tools to get a point across.  I'd really like to see these awesome tools in real world usage. I dont mind reviews but lemme see the tool in action.

I feel I should make a tiny comment :D I don't have issues with HANDS, but with particularly long & dirty nails... lol. I mean, it's one thing to see a woman with longer nails (though lots of women don't take care of their nails either and just.... "grow them"), but seeing a guy with noticeably longer nails that they could be... hm. Perhaps some could invest in nail-clippers rather than expensive tools.. lol

P.S. ok, not such tiny a comment :D As for the rest, I enjoy making videos, but for myself mostly. My YT channel is more of a ... calendar for me to know when I bought what, lol. I also consider unboxing videos silly, though I've made a few, just so, to see what it's like. They should be just separate videos, I think. Unboxing and only unboxing. The review part should be in another video. Also, I don't consider my videos reviews, because a real, proper, review must have a specific structure, I think and some certain points has to be covered. This is why I usually try to avoid criticism by calling my videos: XXXXX Impressions. Lol. As for the cameras, mine isn't good either, it's old and can't even focus. And I can afford a more expensive and new one, but as video-making doesn't occupy a large part of my life, I'd rather spend my money on lights and tools, lol. But yeah, people who "dare call" their videos reviews, should be a little bit better prepared, indeed.

And yeah, Stefan's sense of humour is great :D

Review killers:

- Not getting straight to the point.  Show the dang MT/SAK/blade and start talking about it.  I don't need 4 minutes of bull before you get the knife out.
- Constant pauses, "uh", and throat clearing.  If half the video is silence, or the sound of you clearing your sinuses, we are going to rumble.
- Show some darn excitement, or at least interest.  If you are putting yourself to sleep, you are putting me to sleep.

That's why I love Nutnfancy, just as an example.  Yeah, he's a self-important blowhard.  But the guy has strong opinions, he loves his toys as much as I do, and he has some energy going that gets you revved up.  He keeps the words flowing and the interest up.  That's why he has something like 150 million views.

So to have a good review:  have strong opinions, keep the words flowing fast, and show some dang energy and excitement.  A little sense of humor thrown in doesn't hurt.

Rock on.

@NNR I've seen a few or your videos and you love your lights and it shows.  I love the dog too.   :tu:

I agree NutnFancy is passionate he just needs to trim 90 mins of a knife review to 10-15 IMO.  I think he definatley has some very good reviews however.  I appreciate his view points on the tools he reviews and dont get caught up in the other stuff.   I like the dude from Seattle  Urban Prepper? He is always on topic and very detailed.  I was gonna try and do a video of some tools that I rarely see on YT but I'm too lazy .

Unboxing. Tell me what's in the box is fine, no need to spend 5 minutes go through what's printed on the box, the included baggie is so silky smooth etc... I'll take shaky and badly lit videos if it gives good info.

Oh dear.

His production is so well done it easily rivals any professional TV station.

@Aloha, thanks  :salute:  :)

Hahaha, yeah, btw, I also dislike being shown the included... baggy for like two minutes... and the manual... and the box... and leaving the light/MT/whatever for like the last 4 out of 10 minutes...

And as for Ntn..... I like his reviews because they're detailed and not boring and because he uses some good camera that shows you everything.... BUT I'm not a fan of his... "weird whizzing" sounds or whatever other unnatural ways of expressing excitement he has. So, I guess it's 50:50 for me.

I am unsure what to say to this one... It reminds me of presentations we did in school at about a 7 grade level. And I am sure we are not dealing with the most intelligent american women here....

But

At least they cut out the bloopers you can see in the outtakes. And I noticed this high-pitched excitement, talking simultaniously, etc in enough people to not count it against these two.

Thanks everyone for your positive feedback!! :tu:

Great review derekmac!  :tu:  :salute:

Things you have to improve for your next videos:
  • Give us a 30sec intro of sepia coloured still photgraphs of dogs, a boat and an upside-down mountain underlayed with bad 90s softcore 'movie' music
  • You need to have some kind of breathing problem, if you want to be taken serious as a reviewer!
  • 1 extended cough or annoying laugh per video, minimum. (And don't even think of cutting this out before uploading!)
  • You did not announce to review some awesome new knives next week, just to leave us hanging for 4 months.
  • No bashing. How dare you make a video about a knife without telling us, that it is better than any other knife on the planet and who believes otherwise is just plain wrong!  :viking:
  • Background noises. No cars, animals, playing toddlers, annoyed neighbours, etc. in your video. You have to break the concentration of your viewers!
  • Likes. You have to pray, sob, beg, fight for likes and +1s nowadays. How better to convey "desperate!!!!1eleven!!!!" to your viewers, than to ask for likes: at the beginning, after the intro, in writing during the intro, at the end of the video, in the credits, in the annotation text, ....
  • The credits. I missed "camera: derekmac - narration: derekmac - review: derekmac - guy that bought the knife: derekmac - guy that carries the knife: derekmac - guy that cut himself: derekmac - guy screaming in the ambulance on his way to the ER: derekmac"

See, with a little bit of improving you will be a YT review star in no time!  :D

Hoenstly: Thank you for your 'review' - Too much of those on YT, I was laughing all the way through and thinking of min. 10 'real' reviews that would be a perfect pt. 2 to yours!
Those are some great tips, thank you!  For my next review, I'll use these to help make me seem like even more of a professional.

Yes, I can not understand why anybody would watch a review like that:

ESEE IZULA II & SWAMPRAT WARDEN..Girls and Knife reviews, a gift in the mail...and outtakes;)) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkTjGewdyNU#ws)

Very little is said about the knife, it is not shown clearly, lots of unboxing and reading....  :mail:

Come one!
Just show us the knife!! Nothing else!

I wouldn't mind more reviews like that. I couldn't see the knife for crap, but I wasn't looking anyways.

I think most of the review vids face a big problem: the people get nervous, they are on video talking and start mumbling and it starts sounding like they are talking about some forbidden tabu fetish... So amateur porn like! it's plainly embarrassing to listen to that!

Sure.... I didn't post it because... well, what if it's someone from the forum   :ahhh  Still, here you go Leatherman Wingman review (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enXMvO-frA4#ws)

P.S. The first time I couldn't endure the whole of the vid, so I stopped it after the first 3-4 minutes, but now I watched the whole of it... there's some *nose-action* later, too :ahhh

Despite the humor in this thread, I'm getting a great idea as to what folks do that I continue to try to stay away from. Most of the time it's just in a effort to present as good a piece of content as possible. However when viewers point out specifics, it's good for me to actively think about what I may let slip.

Anyone care to critique my lame videos? http://youtube.com/sticktodrum

Actually, the EDC one I saw (sorry, I'm not into SAKs) is superb :tu:

Btw, Just thought of another thing I hate........... maybe it's.. well, gender-specific, but I really hate seeing guys' crotches in vids.. lol. Are there any specific videos you want to review ( :D ) ?
I just saw the Alox Bantam (http://youtu.be/gd3XxynuOF4) video and there were some points I want to mention:
You showed the Cadet and Bantam side-by-side, why didn't you show the width of both in the same scene?
You did not mention that the combo-tool is more prone to bending when used as screwdriver.
A scale would have been a nice addition as you were talking about the measurements.
Otherwise lighting, your speech pattern, the background were good. A little too much hands in the picture for my taste (Ok when you show the opneing etc, but if you talk about the dimension, maybe just rotate the knife and place it on the table instead of holding it for longer).

That's what I thought, I hope this helps.

No specific ones really. The Kershaw Camber review is the latest though. Although, the SAK videos aren't reviews, they're more just highlight videos to show the configurations. That's a project I'm working on, since there weren't really any good ones on YouTube.

I appreciate the feedback gents. :)

I don't know why when people make light reviews, they have that burning desire to shine the light and test all the modes right in front of the camera and blind whoever had the misfortune to watch their vid...

I watched a bunch of flashlight videos tonight and I think I need to see an eye doc.

First and foremost, I hate bad sound and lighting. Worst is the background humming or buzzing over someone standing fifty feet from the stinkin' mic. Second worst is crappy lighting. Wind noise is also annoying.

The next most annoying thing is 12-year-olds (or even some adults) reviewing something that they have NO IDEA what it is. This happens a surprising amount with MTs, where people don't know the difference between fish scalers and saws. Don't have any clue what an awl/reamer is, or say something about a product that is flatly wrong.

I hate when people stop in the middle of a video to yell at their dog/children/whatever. Please edit that out.

'Umms' don't bother me, not nearly as much as 'like'.
"I, like, really think this is... like... a great product. I like, really like it." Urge... to... murder... rising...

Nutnfancy. Period. STFU, man! It's a smurfing pistol, NO ONE should talk for 45 minutes about it! Worse, NO ONE should go on about how they are totally unbiased, keepin' it real, etc. AS IF you're the only person that has non biased reviews. And the number of imitators he's spawned has, by itself, made me want to strangle him. Reference the '12-year-olds not knowing what they're talking about'. On the positive side, he comes prepared, edits out the worst of his mistakes, and uses adequate sound/lighting. Massively worst of all was his little hissy fit he threw when Victorinox wouldn't do a special run cadet for his channel, where he claimed he had done Vic such a service by selling so many of their products. Whaaaa! Bawl-bagger. The world should pay ME for saving them money on buying that crappy Les Stroud tool. Give me money, Whaaa!

Unboxing. One-handed. More murderous urges. Add to this people who announce the super-spiffy knife they use to open the box with. "I know I'm reviewing Twinkies, but I'll open the package with my Qualtron Titanium Bonded, Unobtanium, Lightning Action, Combat Folder." Shove your pretentious blade smurfing up your excretion orifice!

"Boys be quiet, the men are talking". If a line like this or anything similar shows up, I can assume the person making the video is a Billy Bob with just enough brain power to make their toes wiggle, and I move on to the next video.

I think that's it for now.  :D

I saw a pretty cool german knife review:
A GEK EDC (German Expedition Knife) tested by gutting and cleaning a deer. Only problem: The hunter's dog treid every 20 seconds to get a tasty bite from the deer. I found that so cute, I had a laughing fit as the liver was cut out for him, and instead he proceeded to glance at the filets and ignored the liver thrown to him. Hunter: "You stupid dog!"

But normally I would like things like this to be edited out. I think most problems stem from people not editing their videos.
You should review it once, cut out the annoying bits and dreadful silent pauses and maybe correct the brightness and sound before uploading.

Yep the popular Nutnfancy guy isn't my fave reviewer either... I don't know how he gets so many views. Just watched a review on the Juice S2 and it drove me nuts. First of all he calls the video LM jS2 and this is hwat you expect to see. However, he starts with talking about a knife and after a minute and a half says this is NOT what he's gonna talk about. Then he finally takes out the damn Juice, but just holds it there without showing wtf that tool is while talking about whatnot other LM tools and saying how they are NOT what the Juice is. Wonderful.... for the patient guys out there.

I think my biggest pet peeve in reviews mind this is more predominate in videogame reviews but it's where they talk as quietly as humanly possible and when they stop speaking the background audio shoots through the roof.
Also sticktodrum I've seen your reviews around the bend and they're definantly part of the cream atop the ocean of crap that youtube predominatly is.

Lynn hit every nail I could count on the head except one - use. I like seeing footage of the product in use or at least that it has some sign of use on it. Sadly many reviews are done straight out of the box. How the hell do you know it's the best thing ever if you've had it for all of 30 seconds?

And even worse is that those are the same people who will Bobba Fett their gear (yes that's a thing, look it up on youtube ;) ). Some things won't show a lot of signs that they have been used but they will have a scratch here and there or they will at least be dirty.

In the words of George Carlin “I don't have pet peeves - I have major psychotic smurfing hatreds.”

I just sat through the whole thing/desaster/scholary example/warning to videotapers/smurfing smurf.

How can you tell what you are doing if you just need to tilt the camera a little and everyone could see?
How can you stick a juice in front of a camera facing a panoramic view of the valley and expect it to focus?
Why do you fold out a blade and then hold the damn MT so high, that the viewer still only can see the body?

I know what we should do:
-Make a list of all errors you could do in a review video.
-spread them out into a Bingo board
-have fun marking errors!  :D

On the accent: I'm from southern Ohio, and his accent sounds (rural) Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia (although not deep in the mountains). There are Southern sounding bits to it, but not entirely. There's a weird thing about accents where certain aspects of what's usually considered 'Southern' sounds creep into the accent when the person is actually 'Rural'. The closer you get to cities... sometimes even in the south, the less noticeable these sometimes become.

My guess then is Southern Ohio, or Kentucky, rural but not deep rural, or West Virginia but not rural.

Even among people familiar with a number of U.S. accents, they can sometimes be hard to pinpoint.
Title: Re: What do you HATE seeing in review videos?

Thank you Lynn!  :salute:

I thought that's somewhere along the Mason-Dixie-Line, but then he lost the accent sometimes, and I was like  ???

And yes, in Germany you also find heavier accents in the villages than in the cities. I think there are less people moving in and out from other regions in the rural areas. I know from my grandparents, that the accents where a lot stronger and common before the war. But since 1945 it was all shaken up and has been ever since, with less and less farmers and factory workers who were tied down to one place.

No, I did not watch all, I skipped to some parts.

But seriously: Don't make a video while you have a cold! Don't post a video where every sentence sounds the same!
Mitigating factors: The age of the reviewer, the comprehensiveness, the lighting, the neutral background.
All in all, the video seems to be a good visual presentation (most videos called a 'review' aren't a review, imho), just clear your nose and think before you speak.
And now off my lawn, laddy!  ;)

Another unfan of Mr Fancy and his nuttiness. He isn't unbiased, and he doesn't always know what he's talking about. And his voice is annoying to my ears. It's bad enough when a 12 year old does it, but he's old enough he should know better.

What I can't stand are the "reviews" that are just unboxing and then a nearly fetishistic load of babble about the item, but they don't actually show use. Particularly when you are wearing sweat pants and a tshirt, don't unbox a $500 dollar knife, hold it reverently, and sound like you're reading marketting copy. You aren't fooling anyone- you look like you are afraid to damage it so you can't return it and get your money back. Look, if you can't afford it, don't try to review it then return it. Use it. And if you can afford it, don't look like a ragbag or sound like you're 12 and you're being naughty by showing your buddies your dad's rifle (or his porn stash).

And for pities sake, clean up the place a little. I can understand if your work space is a little cluttered, but if you are showing it on your kitchen table, at least move your diner plate.

With all these Leatherman OHTs in the giveaways I was excited about the prospect of actually winning one - I thought I'd better find out a little about the tool and went looking for a you tube review

I found one by nutnfancy. I have heard this name before and I know he does a lot of reviews. This one was 13 minutes long.
I gave up after six minutes of zero information at all on the OHT.
He waffled on about this that and the other: Different tools, the importance of brands, how excellent his reviews were, his patches.... blah blah blah
So I hit the stop button and found a decent review that actually told me something.

So I guess my hate is ..... reviewers who do not stick to (or in this case even talk about) their topic  >:D

Oooh, I've also moved to other videos without finishing his after listening about his "fanny pack" for like 3 minutes before any actual review starts. And he as if wants to mention everysmurfingtool/thing he has in every single video before he actually starts talking strictly about whatever he's reviewing right now.

Also his ... voice fluctuation, exclamations and, for the lack of a better term, weird "verbal sounds" are more likely to fit in the category first-video-ever attempts of 12-14-year-old boys.......

Perhaps it was already mentioned, but I really hate long irrelevant to the supposed video content intros. WTF, you say you're gonna talk about a product in the title or review it or unbox it. So... do not tell me who made you buy it, why they made you buy it, where did you see it and what price you bought it for and where you can find it cheaper. GO WITH THE VIDEOOOOOOOOOOO. Gr.

That's nothing. I was watching a watch review last night and the guy who was doing the review had his mother(probably) yelling at him from the other side of the house. What I cannot seem to understand is why did he not redo the video or edit before uploading

I am going to check my history to see if I can find that vid and post the link.

Sorry about the sorta-kinda thread necro, but I just came across this.

#1 DO NOT give a short teaser intro, NOT getting to the point, then have a 2 minute channel intro. Holy SMURF! Get to the POINT! Even TV series don't get a 2 minute intro. YOU ARE NOT THAT IMPORTANT!!!

#2. DO.... NOT... come back from your 2 minute intro and tease the point of your video for another TWO SMURFING MINUTES, you wretched pustule! Every second you don't get to the point is another second you sound to me like someone stretching their material, or proving you're a total narcissist, or making me wonder if you're trying to sell me a sham-wow towel.

#3. STOP... TALKING... IN... MILITARY BUZZWORD BINGO! F'ing Lieutenant!!!!!

I hate your guts so much. If you post a video on general prepping, stop sounding like you're joe.mil. NO ONE cares about the '30,000 foot view'. SAY 'overview'. It's allowed. General Notimpressed isn't going to bust you to a stinky enlisted rank if you talk like a smurfing HUMAN BEING!

Here's how you do it...

"Welcome to TacMilDouchTardTac.Rambo.Reallyreally.tactical! Answer the question 'What are you afraid of' and prep accordingly. More to come after my stupid f'ing 2 minute intro. I love the sound of my own voice."

I am not certain that he was a lieutenant in the military, but he did EVERY single thing I hated in new lieutenants in my time in the military.

I don't know this guy at all, but he is an incredible pile of fail as an effective speaker. I stopped the video after about five minutes, when I could no longer stand a single word coming out of his f'ing mouth.

Don't the military teach up-front TLDR stuff?

Why ???
Do you think we don't/won't believe you?? - Or that you need to prove the weight or length ??
It's a waste of time -
Just tell us the stats - Or better still compare to another tool - Now that is useful

The dirty nail thing has come up early in this thread.  Theres one thing to be unclean and a whole other where the person is in the field or clearly has been working with the tool.

I'm not into watching gear reviews when the reviewer seems to have only the tech specs and not actual usage of gear.  I don't count back yard or staged usage as actual usage.  I'm over watching reviewers of knives tell me the knife holds an edge when opening boxes.  Good grief how many flipping boxes are you all opening?  I don't buy it and I certainly dont buy all this pristine gear that supposedly has been "hard used".

My favorite is the packs, bags, and every other container holding gear that the reviewer has no clue he/she put it in there.  That item has been in there so long they totally forgot.

Two points about that video you've posted:

1) It is technically not a "review video" as stipulated in the title of the thread, and...

2) It is, without doubt, the most annoying video I have ever seen.

That video is the answer to the question I waited five minutes for. Nice production skills and effects, though.

I hate it when 7 out of 10 videos start with "I'm not an expert"; "First of all, I have to tell you I'm not an expert"; "You should know by no means am I an expert"; "This is only my opinion"...........

It sounds like people start off by saying "my video's crap" right away.

I mean, it's CLEAR you're not an expert, if you were an expert, your video would look more professional. It's CLEAR you're the average user just like me. It's CLEAR you can't force your opinion on ME and it's more than clear that it's just YOUR OpIniOn,  because you're NO-ONE for it to even cross my mind that you're trying to impose YOUR opinion on ME.

One or two vids is fine, but when I hear the same long intro of how I-am-not-an-expert-and-don't-know-what-I-am-talking-about, it gets mildly irritating.

I cringe when I see people battoning/hammering a knife through a knotted log where the tip of the blade barely makes it out the other side. And they go all the way down for a split.

In a way its nice to see a knife stand up to that but it really bothers me safety wise

Plus, Wooden wedges are easy to make even if all you have is a knife.  They make splitting a log easy.

I was planning to criticize nutnfancy's long, blathery review videos in general because I was about to look at his heavy SCAR review below.  It's like almost 45 minutes.  But now that I've watched it I must recant.  Its full of useful information about accessories and aftermarket parts, ergonomics, options he wished it has but doesn't, optics considerations.  All good stuff some of which you may not have thought of that you should avail yourself of if you are thinking about buying a nearly $3000 battle rifle.

The last minute gives you his overall summary of his well considered assessment but at least go watch the last 20 seconds of it.  Now that's the way you end a rifle review, length notwithstanding.

Well, I will point out that if you have second degree burns from the coffee, as she did, someone screwed up badly behind the counter. That's the part no one brings up. This wasn't an "oww, hot", her injuries were consistent with something that was near or at boiling. Nothing that hot should go to the customer UNLESS it is expected to be that hot, and coffee shouldn't be. Yes, Oww is ok. Massive blistering, not so much.

However, I am sick of my damn peanut butter having a nut allergy warning on it. Look, I get it, I'm allergic to shrimp. But really? "May contain nuts?" On peanut butter? Or just a jar of peanuts? I don't look at a shrimp and wonder if it has shrimp in it. That's like the warning "product may be sharp" when I buy a knife- it better be or someone is getting an annoyed email about this.

Third degree burns. The most severe, requiring skin grafts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald's_Restaurants

My brother, when he was in high school, got doused from the waist down in hot oil when a deep fryer tipped on him. He had the same burns in the same area, and I can tell you, it wasn't funny.

People like to pull this case up as people suing over silly things without understanding how serious this lady's injuries were. And yeah, NO ONE expects coffee to be near the boiling point.

Well I got a new one or an old one. Don't know if I said it before but here it is...

Kids. Not kids playing, running, screaming, helping with reviews (although I do strongly dislike this in instructional videos because it takes forever or the kids explain something they don't really grasp and know, at least most of the time). It is kids doing reviews.

Most of this is because you see they are just parroting something from some popular channel they follow. Even more so when they set themselves up to be experts with a metric ton of experience.
The smaller amount of it is the chipmunk voice trying to tell me that I should buy this item because it is great even though it is brand spankin new

I dont care for reviews with gloves on unless you are showing how the tool can be used with gloves on.

Sometimes, the gloves are so the tool doesn't quickly get loaded with fingerprints.

My pet peeve is when someone goes down a list, showing what implements a current production MT has. By the time I find a YouTube video, I already know that.

I do need to work on my brevity though. My latest comparison vid was 35 minutes. In my defense, there were 6 MTs featured in it, so I guess that averages out to < 10 min.  :-\
