Title: Bladeless April Challenge
Post by: ReamerPunch on January 30, 2021, 11:45:53 AM
(https://i.imgur.com/r1Ac1tD.jpg)

All those pictures, mods, challenges, reviews. It turns out we were wrong. Fixed blades, folding knives, Swiss Army Knives, multi-tools, we had no reason to carry them after all. So, let us uphold the law for 30 days. Let's face everyday tasks bladeless, and make the Mayor of London proud. :salute:

Rules (or rather, laws)
-Post a picture of your tool every day, for 30 consecutive days.
-If your tool happens to have a blade, avoid using it as much as possible.
-If you absolutely have to use a blade, you will receive a penalty point. The member with the most penalty points will have disappointed the Mayor of London the most.

What we can and cannot carry
We can carry any sort of tool that includes implements other than blades: SAKs, multi-tools, knife-based multi-tools, traditional folders, camp tools, etc.
I will not tell you not to carry any fixed blades, folding knives, box-cutters, hatchets etc that you may need for your work/hobbies, but this is meant to be a challenge, and as such, if you do have to carry something, and no other tool will do the job, then confess to us, and you may not feel the full force of the law.

When
April/September 2021. Whichever works better. I am open to other months, but I would like to join already planned challenges for 2021 and I only have April and September free.

So, are you tough enough? :pok:

If you use blades for work, that's a reasonable excuse, so carrying a knife is justified and legal, and perfectly welcomed to take pictures of for the challenge. It would not disappoint the Mayor of London.

I wrote a reply yesterday, and then deleted it. Here goes. Mods, if this is too political, I apologize, but would absolutely disappoint the Mayor of London as well. In New England, it's an insult to call someone  "Guv'nah" (Governor in our accent). Kind of like telling someone to "have a GREAT day" whe. You really mean  for them to go f^)k themselves.

Not to get political, but since it has ready been alluded to, I cant join a challenge that supports making people accustomed and comfortable with  being subjugated in this way.

REAMERPUNCH, no reflection on YOU, good, sir, but I sit this out on principle, though I realize my actions will have no outcome in London.

Point taken.
I was thinking of a challenge that would be more than just using a specific tool or SAK range etc. A month of avoiding using blades seemed quite interesting and challenging. I only named it the "Mayor of London Challenge" ironically. I obviously do not support his thoughts. Australian laws also require a "reasonable excuse" for carrying blades, and I am technically breaking the law by not having one.

If the name is a problem, we can rename the challenge to something else.

Yes, this thread is close to going political but still relevant to the forum's main topic so please let's keep the politics out of it and try keeping it tool related.

England/London isn't the only place with similar laws. As RP said, downunder folks have similar laws, as do a few EU countries, and some US states as well. So let's not turn this into one country / city laws bashing and rather concentrate on the challenge at hand. Heck, look at it as something similar to a month without pliers and how to manage without them. Going bladeless for a month. And report how you survived ;)

And thanks guys for keeping it tool oriented till now. :tu:

Except the Buck 112 Challenge already has the word “Fool” in it, we could have named it something like “All Hail the Fool(s)” or something similar to not single out just one politician and to emphasize our lack of agreement with them.

By no means, sir, should you feel I am asking that. Sorry if you got that vibe. We could theoretically find ourselves without a blade due to unexpected explosions, house fire, tornado or any natural or man made disaster. I suppose it's good to see what we can do without sometimes.

Realizing I've scuttled 'round the rim of the bowl of politics there, Enki. Point taken. I felt I was sort of within bounds since there have actually been discussions regarding, for example, the Canadian
ban on the import of blades, and how folks thought that was unfair the way border patrol handled all that. Not purely politics, but seemed politics as relating to our toys might be reasonable.

Apologies. Thank you for the wiggle room and the reminder. There'll be no more about it from me here, sir.

I don't really know how strict the laws are over there.
What counts as a blade?
Are scissors blades? Package openers? Woodsaws? Reamerpunches?

I was thinking we could avoid using blades, and use other sharps freely. :salute:

Any GB members that would care to join? Hell, you do this challenge everyday. :pok:

Also I took a shot at the badge.
We could have the "30" above or below the sign, but then the knife would not look like a knife anymore.

If he is that frightened of blades.

How does he eat his steak......Or is he a vegan??????

If he needs an operation, it will be interesting for the doctor,
" guess we will just have to tear him open with our bare hands guys"

Nutcases like this moron just don't get It.

One or two people in a thousand use their knifes as weapons and instantly all knives are bad.

If he ever gets a say on vehicles , will he ban all cars because of a couple of Dangerious drivers?

I'm 62 years old
Never used a knife as a weapon, other than in martial arts training.
Carried all my life.
Could, if I so wished, use a knife as a weapon very effectively.
But prefer simply to use my hands or boe staff.

Perhaps he is simply a cowardly little weakling who is scared of everything.

Most of these morons are.
Australia is full of them.

But if I'm still locked in my house when it happens, my posts are going to be boring. ::)

I wanted to start a themed challenge. Going bladeless or almost bladeless for a month should be challenging enough. Ignore the silly challenge name. We can change it to something unfunny, boring, and inoffensive, like Bladeless April or something.

This is a bladeless challenge. The goal is to go as bladeless as you can, substituting blades with other tools, like scissors, package openers, reamers, etc. You can still use blades if you have to and no other thing will do the job. Or if you need blades for work, or any other reasonable excuse, as the law in some countries puts it.

We're already four signed up for April. I think it'll be interesting to watch both challenges, one bladeless, and one with a knife, both happening simultaneously.

I’m closer to MadDog in philosophy.  But still interested in this challenge.

I have a bladeless climber that I am interested in seeing how well it works.  Depending on time, I may also try to make a Yeoman, with 84mm file instead of blade.  But you can be sure there will be at least a traditional in my pocket just in case.

Good on you all for trying this, as someone that lives under those laws, eh I'll stay out of it :P

As for the tweet, his feelings are stupid and don't reflect the actual laws in the UK. You can carry an sub 3" blade that doesn't lock (like most non 111mm SAKs) and anything else you just need a reason to carry.

I abhor the sheeple culture that the anti-knife people are promoting, blaming societal issues on inanimate tools, but by-the-by, here's some UK guidance for you challengers since it was asked for:

-Scissors that you'd get on a multitool are okay
-Package openers like on the Rev and so on I'd say not in the spirit of things, it's just a particularly shaped blade
-A slightly ground combo tool would serve as a stand in and I think would be passable

As an example:

If I were to go somewhere where I wanted to be doubly sure I was beyond reproach (the general carry rule realistically is subject to the mood of the officer if it comes up), I'd carry my Leatherman Style PS.

I think this is a fun idea for a challenge, though I'm not sure that I'll jump all in.

I've been thinking about some themed ideas, and i really think this is a good one... turn the Multitool idea right on its head.  We've all (most of us anyway) bought in to the idea that a folder isn't adequate for the day to day things we do.  I think it's interesting to take it a step farther - using scissors and package openers and awls where a knife would have worked.

I'm not going to say that I "have to" carry a knife with me all the time... indeed when I did the 111mm challenge, I didn't use the blade for much (because it was much too much).  So can I get by without a knife... sure.  I've got plenty of coworkers and a couple of friends that don't carry a knife.

The issue is... the challenge for me would be to come up with uses at this point in time.  Between work and home, I don't need to do much of anything out of the ordinary these days.  All my screws are tightened, and all my packages are opened.  Besides that, I don't have a bladeless tool. I can get a lot done with a Micra these days, but I'd like to reserve that for a later challenge.

I would like to do a keychain tool challenge sometime.
I'd also like to do a combo edge challenge sometimes.

Anyway - I think this is a nice idea for a challenge on a number of challenging levels.  There are many places besides London where there is some restriction on knives, and I think that this is distracting us a bit.  I think if we can rename this to The Bladeless Multitool Challange, and focus on the challenge rather than the politics, we'll all be better for it.  After awl, we like multitools for a reason, don't we?

I cannot change anyone's views on politics and relevant legislation, though being members of this particular forum, I think I know where most of us stand. Regardless, we never focused on the politics. This is a 30 day bladeless challenge. It should be somewhat easier to do it now with all the lockdowns and stuff, and of course very few have a bladeless multi-tool, and even fewer can go 100% bladeless for a whole month. Still, this should be more challenging than simply carrying a specific tool for a month.

This challenge shall now be known as the "Bladeless April Challenge"  ;)

Let us challenge ourselves for 30 days. Let's face everyday tasks bladeless, and make ourselves proud. :salute:

Guidelines (and nothing more)
-Post a picture of your tool every day, for 30 consecutive days.
-If your tool happens to have a blade, avoid using it as much as possible.
-If you absolutely have to use a blade, you will face no repercussions. This is just for fun.

What we can and cannot carry
Carry anything that will work and help with the challenge. A SAK with scissors, a multi-tool with a package opener, whatever.
If you need a blade/box cutter/hatchet for work or recreation, fine.

When
April 2021. Should go nicely along the Buck Challenge.

 :iagree:

For a short while a couple of decades ago I carried trauma shears and nothing more.  I figured I could use the nub on the end to pry and tighten screws.  The whole affair was doable... But not ideal...

One in a while I see people who carry a regular pair of stainless scissors on their belt... And in the ultralight backpacking world, some people have taken to carrying a pair of children's arts & crafts scissors instead of a knife.

I agree...  It's not the tool, but what's between the ears that counts.

You guys are going to starve to death  :ahhh

I'm already starving.  This past Friday at work I used a disposable plastic knife for my lunch instead of what I had in my pocket.

:bump:

This is getting close, so I am trying to decide on what to carry.

The Farmer X has been nice and it has killer scissors.
The Deluxe Tinker has the same scissors and also mini pliers.
The Rebar is a nice, compact option, full-size pliers, and I added a package opener and scissors.
The Roxon Phantom has monster scissors, but the nice blade would have to go unused.
The SuperRebar 300 is a nice option, if combined with a SAK or even dedicated scissors.

Decisions, decisions...

So far I’m looking at a LM Raptor, Wenger Air Traveler, a custom SAK that is just the opener layer, SeberTool M3 (if I can find it), lots of OPMTs, and a keyring of assorted tiny tools. Lots of options.

Nothing. Well, maybe a CRKT KERT. Nothing else. For any tool action that comes up, I do without, or hunt down a full-size tool wherever I am.

My workplace (hospital) is a bladeless zone even if I often "forget" that I have a bladed SAK in my pocket.

Should be a fun challenge as I have plenty of bladeless stuff to rotate though: Wenger AT, Clipper AT, LM  Knifeless Fuse, Rebar and Style PS, several different Vic Jetsetters, a modded Tomo where I ground the blade off to get on airplanes unnoticed, and a modded Pioneer X where I removed the blade/awl layer and made a handy tool with just the scissor and opener layers.

Fantastic mod that would pair well with a dedicated blade or plier based multi outside of the challenge too  :tu:

Package opening grind on the combo tool?

I have done the grind on this combo tool yet, but it will have it.

The pairing with a blade is one thought I had, because I almost always have one on me in addition to my SAK or MT.

Hello Team
Day 1 here in NZ.
I bought a knifeless Rebar for my UK and Europe travels but have never opened the package because I can't go anywhere !!
Well I could go but it is very expensive and then when I get home it is a compulsory 2 weeks in quarantine compliments of the government.

Anyway this is my pic for day one. The Micra scissors to cut open the clamshell and set the Rebar free.
Should be a good month.

I mean, I've done this before. It's amazing how often the things you need are already under your nose (until you go off-grid, but that's not what we're talking about here.) This is especially true when you have home field advantage, and know where everything is.

Even so, most days I'll have a CRKT KERT (I will call it KERmiT, obviously) and a bike tool with me. Here's Kermit with my modified Park IB-11.

Discontinued and modified? wow!

I replaced the slot screwdriver on the IB-11 with 2mm and 2.5mm hex keys. Almost any part on either of my bicycles can be fixed with just 3-6mm keys (and one 8mm adapter for the crank bolts, I guess), but my bell and out-front computer mount both use 2.5mm for some bizarre reason.

I'm going to be honest — I think I'm going to find this very easy. That said, there's only one way to find out.

The entire contents of my pocket today.

I didn't need KERmiT even one time today. I used the Park IB-11 to tweak my front derailleur. I finally have it dialled in just right.

I did need some scissors at work, but that place is lousy with scissors, so I just used a pair of those. I also needed a screwdriver to reattach the back of a chair. I used a 25-year-old no-name stainless multi-driver I keep in my satchel at work anyway.

This screwdriver has seen some...uh...things.

Also pictured: the nail scissors I keep in my washroom at home. I'm 99% sure they came from a long lost Swisscard, and are kept closed when not in use by a plastic thing stolen from a locking S-Biner. I used them to trim a donked-up fingernail.

At home, I fixed and ate my dinner with normal human kitchen utensils, like a normal human would. I used my old Swing-A-Way can opener, which was already used when I got it for university 21 years ago, and still outperforms any multitool can opener on the planet.

I know this is supposed to be a seatbelt cutter, but it's no shrinking violet.

A friend needed help taking apart a surprisingly complex bedframe, which was apparently assembled by a team of highly trained professionals who couldn't tell a screwdriver from a box of jalapeno poppers. Surprisingly, the bike tool did most of the work again (4mm hex tools are a furniture assembly standard.) KERmiT and my multi-driver also made appearances.

After dinner, a box of cookies tried to stay sealed, but KERmiT fought bravely.

KERmiT cut the tag out of some padded cycling underpants.

I needed a kife at lunch to cut some provolone. Conveniently, I was working immediately in front of an entire silverware drawer.

On my new bike's first real shakedown cruise, I realized very early on that the saddle was too low. Fortunately, I had this with me:

Hello
A bit late with day 5.
Packed up the camping gear which is bit like tetris really getting it all back in the wagon. Tent was not packed proper as I needed to get it home to dry it properly.
The Rebar was just inspecting the final packing.
A nice weekend at the beach which is unfortunately very hard for a lot of the team in lockdowns in other parts of the world.
A beer was had in your honour .

Of course I needed a knife at dinner, so I used a table knife. Ayup.

I needed to open a box, so I channelled my inner Kong and ripped it apart with my bare hands.

My wife bought us a new TV, so the YeoCho helped with opening the box, get some plastic wrap, screwing in a couple screws and even some light prying to remove the Roku box from the old.  Thank goodness for the inline phillips, because the can opener would not have fit because the hole was recessed and the backside wouldn’t have had enough clearance to turn.

I worked with a lot of ropes and ratchet straps today. None of those needed slicing, because if you tie good knots, you get to untie good knots.

Occasionally, something will take longer because I don't already have an appropriate tool in my pocket, but all I have to do is take a minute to go grab something.

The weather was windy and rainy today (except when it was windy and sleety or windy and snowy), so at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I put some work into my new bicycle.

I fastened my bell (legally required), greased and installed my trusty SPD pedals (from my other road bike, which will get another set from the parts box),  and threw on some bottle cages (oldies but goodies!) I used the Hexus 2 from my seat bag to do these things, because it has beefier parts than any of my smaller pocket tools.

You can see the 8mm adapter for the pedals coming out the side there. It fits on the 5mm key.

The new bar tape arrived, so I used KERmiT to pry out the bar end plugs, and got to work. I planned to take pictures of the taping...but halfway through, I realized the tape I ordered is absolute trash garbage. I'm not subjecting any poor soul to pictures of that abomination. I'll take photos when my should-have-ordered-it-in-the-first-place Fizik tape arrives in a week or so. I'll need scissors for that, but not a knife blade.

You know... 20something years ago, I decided to EDC trauma shears for a bit.  They had a notch to work as an oxygen key, which I decided would make a good anything-key. Maybe I was young, and not as sure of myself... If I recall correctly, what finally stopped that nonsense was when I happened to be at a Backyard barbecue hosted by a family friend who was a doctor.  I yanked out the shears from my back pocket for something and got one seriously sideways look.

That wouldn't have stopped me. I would have looked for more opportunities to invoke seriously sideways looks. Because they are really satisfying to behold.

Good eye. I removed the carabiner clip, which mostly got in the way. Overall, it's a lot like the more common Light My Fire spork, only in stainless steel instead of titanium.

Didn't need a knife for spaghetti dinner! I needed a can opener, so I used a can opener (as opposed to a can't opener1.)

Two packages arrived for me today — a TPU cover for my cyclometer, and silly helmet strap wind blockers. Both packages had a label reading "Tear at perforated line." I did that. It worked fine.

I dug up some old bar tape (I still had that in my closet? Yay!), and redid my cockpit. I used a modified Topeak 6 to detach and move the bell and computer mount.

I should find some blue bar end plugs. I think I may have an old set lying around somewhere.

The last tool for today is my stability ball; I really need to do more post-workout stretching if I'm going to spending this much time in the saddle. I don't feel like taking a picture of said stability ball, but rest assured it doesn't have any blades.

Today I really missed a knife or even utility blade.  I received a package that the sharpened combo tool opened no problem.  However, Inside the boxes of ammo inside were wrapped tightly in several layers of plastic wrap and packing tape.  The Vic scissors weren’t getting through, so I tried the KERT.  The KERT struggled but eventually succeeded.  I’ve done the same opening with a knife several times easily.

Buddy, I'm a sawyer. I operate a sawmill. When the log is sitting on the sawmill, and you start slicing boards off it, the part that's left on there at any given time is called the "cant." I can't tell you how many jokes that term has gendered on the forestry forum I am sometimes a participant in, especially in the sawmill section. The way we say "I bought awl my knives with cash" they say things like "I cant figure out why my sawmill's not working right"

Believe me, we have a lot of those things. The word "pith" comes up a lot. That's the center section of a tree....

The word DanG is used a lot also, capital D and G, because there was a forum member named Dan G and he became called DanG. Now people use it as a euphemism kind of like how we use Smurf.

I tend to like finer points, but that could be from the Navy where too wide of a mark could translate to being off 100yards or more.  But, there are definitely tasks where the wider points are useful.

Day 15
Although I’ve really wanted to use a blade a few times so far this challenge, I’ve been able to avoid it until today.  The scissors, file/metal saw, KERT, etc just weren’t up to the task of cutting dog treats.  I did try.
- The file went through but did more squashing or crumbling than really cutting
- The KERT hook opening wasn’t wide enough and when trying to cut small pieces there is nothing to hold.
- The scissors worked on one type but on the other the mouth just wasn’t wide enough and the treat was too dense.

So in the end, the sow belly did the job

I get it. I used 0.5 for a long time. These days, though, I use my mechanical pencil almost exclusively for either bullet journalling or classroom work, so I'm after a sweet spot between very robust and fine enough to write without extra sharpening.

When I'm cartooning, on the other hand, I either drop down to a 0.7mm (the smallest size for which I can easily get non-photo blue lead), or bump up to a 2mm drafting lead holder (also with easy-to-find non-photo blue lead.) To be fair, I mostly ink with fountain pens (dip or cartridge),  or with brush pens. Neither of those is fine enough for lead size to matter — especially using lead that won't be picked up by scanners and photocopiers.

The pliers out for a crimp of the bracket of the fire extinguisher in the wagon.     It keeps coming loose although I think the feet of SWAMBO don't help either. . It is in the passengers footwear.

For the first time all month, I couldn't get by without a reamer. I considered my Ruike M31, but went with a Huntsman instead.

The belt came with seven holes. Now it has 11.

This was safely in my own house. I promise I only used the reamer, and not the blade.

:like:  So how are you liking the Knifeless Rebar.  I haven’t tried one but I like that it has the scissors in place of the knife.
With mods i made to this Rebar, i actually like it. Scissors are good enough for most task. Offcourse i needed to add both Bitholders to it and get rid of awl. If i need awl i have PX on my pocket edc bag along with LL P3R and vic ratchet/l-wrench combo. I decided to keep both flathead and phillips too cause i need them time to time.

I tried opening a package with my keys, as people apparently do. It occurs to me that other people must have much sharper keys than I have.

Anyway, the package contained a cool Victorinox Rambler I can't really use for another couple of weeks.

I like that there are finally a few different colours of toothpick and tweezers. I've never been desperate for blue scale tools, but I like them.

Oh well. At least I can look at it.

Yesterday, it was 10°C, sunny, and calm. Today it was 0°C, snowing, and windy. I went for a ride anyway, not realizing how mucky the roads were, or how dirty the bicycle and I would get.

Since my fingerless gloves weren't up to the task, I cut it a little short. It's probably okay that none of my neighbours were out to see me trundling back with a giant skunk stripe up my whole back, and even more mud in my bicycle's nethers.

It was time for a shower! Sort of. It was time to see how easy it would be to stick the bike in the shower. Pretty easy, it turns out; between modern compact road geometry, and my ludicrously small 52cm frame, I could maneuver it into a leaning position in the tub. This gave me an easy-to-clean place to spray down the bike thoroughly with a water bottle. Then, after a quick towel-down, the road bike went back to it's place in the hall, and I finally took care of my own disgusting self.

I know it seems weird, because a bicycle can absolutely handle being dirty, but I've only had it for two weeks; the honeymoon phase isn't over yet.

That was a really long way of explaining that this is the only tool I used today:

A wide-nozzled bottle from my favourite LBS!

Oh, and a toothpick with a thin rag dug mud out from around the seatpost clamp.

And my nachos were kind of sharp. I hope that's okay.

In what may count as meta, I used two bike tools to disassemble my already modified Topeak Mini 6 bike tool. Then I used a chainsaw file to cut a groove in the frame to allow the 6mm tool to close flat with an 8mm adapter on it. Necessary? No. Fun? Yes!

Open! Close! Open! Close!

I may have to take it apart again to paint it all later, but the frame's aluminum, so it's not like I have to worry about rust.

Obviously it's silly that they're titanium, but they were pretty cheap, and are decidedly stick-shaped.

I didn't need to cut the noodles, or the class of milk I had with them. Mind, you, I didn't use the chopsticks for the milk, either.

The U-lock key is the only thing here that didn't get used, because the bicycle was never alone outside.

KERmiT sliced a bunch of waxed cotton thread. The Park Tool removed a 2.5mm bolt, and the flashlight helped me find said bolt in the carpet under my desk. The USB stick transported files to a photocopier. The keys opened stuff. The wallet walleted.

I used a 2mm hex key to work out a knot today. It didn't work as well as a corkscrew, an old Wenger awl, or an actual marlinspike, but it got the job done.

The only blades in my computer are the fan blades, so I'm pretty sure the time I spent in The GIMP (https://www.gimp.org/) making these images is still challenge-friendly:

Large and small!

This badge (in two sizes) is straight up just ReamerPunch's image from waaaaaaaay at the beginning of the challenge. I liked his basic idea, so I ran with it. I simplified the image, shrunk it, cleaned it up, and added some text. Then I cropped it, simplified it, shrunk it, and cleaned it up again.

I know we have several days left, so obviously there's a lot of time for other ideas. I may do a few different iterations myself, just for funzies.

So a little while ago, I did some digging on Ebay, and found a Park Tool IB-11. I replaced the slot driver bit with 2mm and 2.5mm hex keys from an old IB-12, because I always have a slot screwdriver around somewhere, and rarely need it for my bicycle anyway. Besides, some of my bike accessories (notably the computer mount and bell) require 2.4mm hex for some weird reason.

For those with better memories than mine, that modified tool was in my Day 0 post on February 28th (well, April 1st, but it wasn't even 1 a.m. yet.)

Shown here with KERmiT, my surprisingly versatile CRKT KERT.

Digging around in a parts box produced a pile of different appropriately-sized steel washers, so I used a non-bladed hex key and a non-bladed 10cm crescent wrench to completely take apart the IB-11, and replace all the not-great nylon washers with metal ones.

In person it looks like a whole new tool.

Then I slathered in the blue thread locker so it won't all fall apart when I'm cranking on some stuck bolt.

Full disclosure: despite all my bicycling-related posts lately, I almost never need a bike tool in my pocket. If a bicycle needs work in the apartment, I have a whole toolbox just for my bike-specific tools, and if it needs work on the road, I have everything I need in my under-saddle tool roll. I just like tools.

The YeoCho magnifying glass helped me inspect Fisher’s paw that he was favoring a little.  Fortunately, it was just a tiny pebble caught between the pads.

It's a shame these are discontinued. They were great. It helped me install new pedals (I have full-sized hex keys I could use, but why not?)

Day 29

Unfortunately, the same paw was bothering him again this morning.  This time I examined it again using magnifying glass and headlamp.  He had 4 little seed pods stuck deep between his paw pads.  The tweezers helped pull them out.

(https://i.imgur.com/Ed69kqU.png) (https://i.imgur.com/akVg80v.png)
Large and small!

This badge (in two sizes) is straight up just ReamerPunch's image from waaaaaaaay at the beginning of the challenge. I liked his basic idea, so I ran with it. I simplified the image, shrunk it, cleaned it up, and added some text. Then I cropped it, simplified it, shrunk it, and cleaned it up again.

I know we have several days left, so obviously there's a lot of time for other ideas. I may do a few different iterations myself, just for funzies.

Since this is close to the end, I just wanted to remind everyone that we have the badge design ready. :pok:

That "when they work" part is very important. I originally bought the Zip Hex as a silly novelty, but it turned out to be a real champ. I thought I'd lost it forever, and the most reasonably priced one I found on the intertubes is in Australia. I'm glad I found mine before I made that purchase. It would have been a long wait, and not super cheap.

Day 30 of 30

Last day and today my Rebar was used fully, all tools was today needed, everything else except eyeglass was used while installing furnitures and eyeglass driver was used to tighten my eyeglasses.

This was probably most hardest challenge so far cause i couldnt use blades, needed to improvise most cases where i normally use blades. Now abused my work scissors more than ever also my SwissChamps awl and scissors was used but probably used my work scissors so much that i may need new pair.
I have Fiskars PowerArc as my work scissors, on this challenge i used scissors more than ever, only  downside on is scissors is that it cannot yet fully replace blades while cutting felt-covered roof cause cannot cut it when it is in place.

Day 30
I just realized it is the last of the challenge.
The YeoCho continued to prove valuable.

The YeoCho scissors helped cut open a plastic mail bag.  The scissors also helped to cut some velcro to create a patch panel on one of my old bags so I could display some of my patches.
I used the YeoCho mini-driver for tightening the nose piece on my sunglasses.
I did need to use the saw of the Farmer X to cut some twigs, but the blade was not used.

It has been a fun challenge, but definitely challenging.  As much as I like the YeoCho and its toolset,I will enjoy getting back to using and carrying my knives.  Yes, knives plural.  Some may think no one needs a knife, and I agree because everyone should have multiple for various purposes.

I went into this challenge thinking it would be simple, and, for the most part, easy.

Honestly, I was right.

I'm quite used to carrying a clasp knife (sometimes a Wenger or Ruike, but usually a Victorinox), and there were definitely many, many things I could have done faster with a knife in my pocket, but necessity is the mother of invention. I can 100% see how a person could just not bother carrying a bladed tool on them — if you're unlikely to need it, why bother?

That said, I'm going right back to carrying one, though it may sometimes be a more diminutive model than before (depending on my activity, obviously.)

The sheet on which I drew all my silly headings.

So, challenge accepted, and challenge conquered. Good job, everyone here. We were all likely outside of our comfort zone for a whole thirty days, and we're probably better people for it.
