Title: Hats, Headgear, Caps and covers.
Post by: Pacu on July 27, 2014, 06:43:42 AM
Found an Outdoor Research multicam seattle sombrero at Gander mountain 25 bucks up in Dallas last weekend. My old OR SS is still going strong after 20 years.  Gore tex for those rainy cold days of the yearly trip to rain soaked disneyworld.  Thought i'd share my hats i wear . OR , a milspec boonie, carhart and a cheap american flag hat picked up at Academy.

I wear a Nike cap from FC Barcelona I bought at Camp Now.
Mostly wear it when I'm having a bad hair day.

I do like a good hat. :)  My Tilley is hard to beat, but a very plain standard ball-cap gets a lot of use as well.  My waxed cotton flat cap sees a lot of head time too.

Buff (several of them - frequently used)

Polar Buff / Merino Wool Buff (one of each - rarely used)

Thinsulate beanie hat (Several of them - the winter standard)

Fleece beanie (very warm and lightweight, but gets grubby/itchy quick)

Black waterproof trapper hat (nicknamed "Timmy Tabflap", and makes me look like I should have a carer - but great for hiking in foul weather)

Assorted baseball caps (three or four, frequently used)

Barmah Sundowner Roo (crushable leather hat, great for sun or rain ... NOT a good choice in wind)

... and not all worn at the same time

I rarely wear hats, but when I do it is usually for sun protection, so I wear a boonie with mesh.

I rarely wear a hat when the sun is routhless. I'll post a pic later. But as I get balder I should become bolder and thus I'm going to get a nice fishing/birding hat for most outdoor activities.

OD boonie hat in the summer usually, or a ballcap.  NJ Devils starting the first week of October, and when their season's over it changes to the NY Mets.  In the winter a knit hat is a must naturally.

I normally do not wear hats unless I am doing some sort of all day outdoor activity. I have a camo Browning hat for that. I just ordered a Hoo-Rag to keep my neck covered and to keep me from inhaling dust when I vacuum and dust around the house.

Summer time I normally stick with the boonie hat, thus no sunburn! But come any other time I'll stick with my old school caps(duckbills) my newer one I put the mto patch on. Now come winter I'll either have just a winter cap or my special one with pull down ear warmers, I like it cause it keeps the sun out of my face! JR

... in summer there is nothing better than a strew hat - I keep several. One in my car, one in my house, one in my work shop and two for replacement.

C'mon guys - get your hats  :pok:  :pok:

In winter I wear a regular hat sometimes. Great in the outdoor when it´s snowing, but not the hit when the wind is strong

@Captain Same idea as a Buff, right?

Yes. I believe the buff is "better made" but I did not want the holes in the mouth as I am going to use if as a dust barrier and I was not going to pay $30 or more for a Buff.

I guess it depends on the design, and model you get. They vary widely in price.

I know what you mean. :-\  I'll often call them knit caps/hats if they are made of wool or similar.  The ones made of fleece I'll call a 'fleece hat'.  Inventive eh? :D

I love hats and have worn them since I can remember.  My mother used to have to tell me constantly to take off my hat when at the table or whenever she felt it was inappropriate to be wear it.

I typically wear 59/50 ball caps, Kangol 504 tropic and the tropic ventair, the big hat is when I'm outside doing chores or at the fleamarket.  I wear a hat while I work as well and its typically a military style boonie/jungle hat.

A quick pic

i've always have worn a hat. Nothing like granny or dad smacking you upside your head for wearing a hat in the house!  I'm not allowed to wear a hat at work but i always have anyway. I get in trouble, take it off, repeat. 12 years so far...even bought a company branded hat and sported it for a while. Nothing like having a senior VP of a fortune 500 company tell you to take your hat off.  >:D

now that i'm in charge of a large group i let them wear hats during overnights...

it's Texas and it's construction work inside. :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

Don't you do big indoor displays?  I'm certain there must a few times you'd be wanting to wear a hard hat.

Summer time and most mild weather, I love my bucket hats. I have a couple, khaki, blue, black. Keeps the sun out of my eyes and off my ears and sides of face.

But when it gets cold like in winter, give me my wool watch cap.
