DIE HARD 2...Perhaps he's really bad in bed or something.
Really, John McClane's wife is a real disappointment - after all that man did for her, risking his life twice, at least, she leaves him, alone, an alcoholic... (watching 3 now...)
He is too good for her...
Watched Bandersnatch on Netflix last night for the second time with my gf (the first time I watched it I watched it by myself with different outcomes). Quite a fun and interesting experience. 8/10
Bumblebee (2018) - 8/10
Peppermint 7 out of 10.I liked all three of them and would probably order them Red Sparrow > Equalizer 2 > Peppermint, but really they are all good action flicks.
Jennifer Gardner is a soccer mom turned badass in this action flick. Better than Equalizer 2 and Red Sparrow. I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised . Brought back vibes from Alias tv series.

Sean Connery is simply “thee” James Bond hands down! But I think Pierce Brosnan plays the best, the others are just simply a James Bond..

Meaningless rant about James Bond in...

...1...
Personally I think “the spy who loved me” was the best James Bond film with Roger Moore.
“View To A Kill” biggest problem is that Roger Moore is just too old in the movie, if my memory serves me right; Roger Moore was in his late 50s during the shooting of the film.
With that said; I agree that “View To A Kill” is still a great movie.
Even though the James Bond films that Roger Moore starred in are a product of their time, and the 1970s to early 1980s were a different time. Roger Moore still remains one of my favorites who played James Bond, a long with Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.
I’m not saying I think “Die Another Day” was a good movie, but “Goldeneye” still remains my favorite James Bond of all time.
/Rant over

Is there any indication of a new Bond movie, or the new Bond (actor)? Haven‘t heard anything in a while :dunno:
[...]Even the ones with Timothy Dalton were a lot more true to the genre.[...]Not really no... I would actually say that Casion Royal Bond, that just got poisoned and almost dies, then goes back into the casino is very much true to the books. In the books, JB is not particularly skilled at anything*, he is lucky, though and he never gives up. Btw, all those spy gadgets belong to the opposition in the books.

* Maybe except drinking. In Moonraker he drinks on one day something like a bottle of vodka, 2 bottles of champagne and some wine (it's a regular day at the office).
Jumanji – the new one with The Rock. That was a good movie, the rock did so much to hart while not filming,

Dr. No (1962) - 10/10Totally! :tu:
The first James Bond film is a masterpiece regardless of how you look at it.
Even for a movie that’s 57 years old, it doesn’t feel slow paste or boring at any times.
What I really also is how the henchmen who are not important to the progression of the storyline; are not introduced to the audience (for instance the 3 “blind” men), it may sound silly but it keeps the story limited to the characters that are relevant for the story and makes it a lot easier to follow what’s going on.
James Bond is played by Sean Connery who is IMO spot on perfect for the role of 007, and he played the role perfectly too.
The super villain Dr. No played by Joseph Wiseman, is spot on perfect too. He does a fantastic job at playing this ruthless and stone cold criminal mastermind. So much so; I’d almost say he it one of my favorite Bond villains.
Even Ursula Andress, who was fairly unknown and didn’t have any former acting career, does a great and convincing job at playing this sea shell diving girl.
Overall; an absolute masterpiece of a movie

We all need to watch it, but I couldn't finish it.

I know I'm not alone, I know there are older people less able to look after themselves that lost a lot more, but have no doubt this wholesale theft is affecting me very directly at the moment
Last night I felt that all billionaires without exception needs to be slowly hung and set on fire, millionaires need to run.......
Problem being you need to go look in sci-fi books for ways to run the resulting mess.
San Andreas with “The Rock”That is a great movie! Story line was better than what I thought it would be!
Great movie!

Sean Connery is James Bond. None have even come close, IMO.
I love what he did with his money from some of the movies he has done!
What did he do with the money? I am not familiar with that story :popcorn:I think from one of the movies he gave his entire earnings to his country.
That is a great movie! Story line was better than what I thought it would be!True
I think from one of the movies he gave his entire earnings to his country.Correct and not just once! I have heard of 3 different times he has given very generously...over 1 million dollars (his earnings for that movie). Another time half a million. A third time to a home for children. I had heard a million there.

“ready player one”
About the future and the internet, the guy who created it died but there’s something in it and if you can find everything you get control of it and how much it’s worth. So of course this big stock company is trying to gain control all while individuals do so, kinda interesting, I must say I loved the music, lol.. I’d say a 6/10
JR
I was really surprised by that movie. Did not expect much but really enjoyed it! :like:The kid was wanting to watch it sooo bad (the first time) and the Mrs and me were like ahhh, ok, just to make the kid happy, but both of us were not to bad..
I watched Independence Day Resurgence for the first time last night... what a load of utter smurf. Terrible. The first one was good but that’s it!

Thunderball (1965) - 08 / 10Two great movies indeed. And with the best bond of them all IMO.
Diamonds are forever (1971) - 06 - 10
Captain Marvel 8/10Good to know -that's the second recommendation I've had for this film. Will add it to the list. :tu:
Pleasantly surprised! Character driven, maybe even a buddy movie, and perhaps the first MCU movie that wasnt 30 minutes too long
Espionage team "Mighty Jack", headquartered on a flying submarine, opposes the plans of Q, which is trying to take over the world using... um... ice that doesn't melt.
Aquaman - 6/10 - I redboxed this one. It was worth a dollar to see. It kills you with CGI and Willem Dafoe was there just for a paycheck. Fine acting there ::) ::) ::)
The Highwaymen
Difficult to rate, I watched to the end, which should put it at least at 7/10, but apart from the historical element of seeing the Bonnie & Clyde story from another angle it's not very entertaining.
Captain Marvel (2019) - 00 / 10
It’s not a terrible movie, but it is so cliche that I felt like I had seen it before and knew exactly what it was going to end with before I watched it for the first time.
So much so that I was actually bored watching it
Even all the new characters in it, none are really likable or someone that one really ends up caring about, and they are all so cliche as well
Well this whole movie is just one big cliche!
Sorry but bring something new to the table, and not just a new avenger with the same basic backstory as the rest

Never saw that coming in the Ironman days

Ok, “venom” I must say was a pretty cool movie, had a couple funny parts to it too, if you watch it you gotta keep playing after the first credits cause someone plays a very little part, just like that someone else who’s known for Marvel comics! A good 8/10!I enjoyed Venom as well. It was decent and co created by Todd McFarlane I think, same guy who made Spawn. I was big into comics growing up.

Rewatched "Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension":iagree: :like:
10/10
This is a quirky, campy movie that I have always loved. I love the way it is set up...as if the characters are from a world where they are so well known, that there really is no great need to get into the details of who they are, or why they do what they do. It is random and funny. I remember when I was younger and watched it for the first time, I was kinda like, "what did I just watch?" It does not hand-feed explanations of every detail to the viewer...you kinda fill in the blanks with your imagination. Example - In a scene where they are sweeping the compound for bad guys, Jeff Goldblum sees a watermelon in an industrial press and asks one of Buckaroo's team, "What's with the watermelon?" His response? "I'll explain it to you later." Haha...welcome to the Banzai universe!
Going to be seeing zombieland 2 in about 4hrs

Zombieland Double Tap - 9/10 :woohoo:Was still a good movie!
Same male lead, so easy to compare with Deadpool as far as level of violence and humor, but Zombieland is much funnier!
There are several truly side-splitting scenes and one new character which is hilarious

I recently watched a video on youtube explaining the chess match of the battle of Midway and it found it fascinating.
Ford v. Ferrari - 9.5/10Haven’t seen that one, not the Mrs thing, yet we did see the Henry Ford museum, talk about huge and talk about everything, I posted a bunch of pics of it on here, like the presidential limos including John F. Kennedy’s and even the chair Abraham Lincoln was sitting in, in the Theater, I’ll see if I can find the link
I laughed and I cried, and I think I did both along with Mr Ford at one point....
Amazing movie about amazing people, I know it's based on real events, but I wonder how much it was dramatized.
The politics are sickening, that's probably real, but I would love to know if that test drive with Mr Ford really happened.
Excellent movie :tu:

Abominable indeed. Terrible dialogue, performances, effects, everything. It takes itself so seriously, yet the dialogue and actions are just ridiculous, worse than the cheesiest soap opera.
And the bigfoot costume, oh my. If you are on a low budget why show the creature so much? And full body? I feel more frightened by Fuzzbucket's avatar.
There are better bigfoot movies out there. Skip this.

Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan 9/10
Based on a true story: 108 Australian and New Zealand troops held off 2000 North Vietnamese during the battle in Vietnam in 1966.
One of the best war movies I have seen. It seemed realistic and was refreshingly un-Hollywood.
Nothing over-the-top, just showing the battle as it transpired.
Maybe even a 10...

The Mrs is watching the walking dead as I type, I lost interest waaay back, yet another show we started watching is from way back called NYPD Blues, and I must say it’s a great show! It’s from the 90’s and they get down and dirty, I mean sometimes it will have you laughing hard but some others you’ll be in tears!

Army of the DeadHahaha :iagree: but I did quite enjoy it Chako. Dumb but fun
If you like a movie that insults your intelligence...this is the one for you. I mean, I was rooting for the zombies after seeing how stupid the various characters are.
Made in 2021 and on Netflix.
Okay, this doesn't count as a movie, but if you don't like my advice you can have your money back.
The HBO series Mare of Easttown is worth watching - if you have HBO Max or one of its siblings. Small town, Pennsylvania murder mystery over about 7 episodes. Starring Kate Winslet. She is no glamour queen in this one, but a worn down, rough around the edges police detective with a largely crappy life. Mare of Easttown is Powernoodle Approved. 8.3/10.
The Quick and the Dead (1987)Spiffing series of modern time westerns you've got there!
9/10
Fantastic western. Sam Elliott is exquisite.
Conagher
8/10
Another Sam Elliott western. Also good.

8/10
Another good western. I liked the characters in this.
Chato's Land
10/10
My kind of movie. A man taking out a team of bad guys in the wilderness, kinda like Rambo 2.
Silverado
9/10
Why is this not more well-known? It seems like it would be a classic, with all the big names in it, and the quirky humor but excellent action. And yet, I had never heard of it, I never saw it in any Top 10 lists, any Western lists in imdb, I never caught in on the tv. It was very enjoyable, with very likable characters.

Dune 4/10
Good:
I loved the Ornithopter
I liked Paul visions (especially the one about Jamie, was it a different future or was it this vague?).
Bad:
Both Caladan and House Atreides looked to dark and unhappy to me. House Atreides was so bad, I never felt like rooting for them and didn't care about the betrayal. I blame the dark knight trilogy for this, ever since Hollywood thinks that a film needs to be dark to be good. Me I wished they had a bit more flamboyant costumes, something that feels a bit more "alien".
What really was missing was the lore though, why there are no computers, what are Mentats, Bene Gesserit etc...
I think the Fremen where a bit short-cut and too much relegated to the background, on the other hand, they wasted time on irrelevant stuff like the Sardaukar.
The end was quite rushed
Don't Look Up (2021)
Terrible. 3/10
To be fair I only got halfway through it before turning it off.

Anyone watching Amazon Prime's Lord of the Rings , The Rings of Power?Episode three arrived and I watched tonight. Gets better yet!
I just watched Episodes 1 and 2 . It's definitely worth watching. No T&A , no GOT's cussing but still very good. :tu: :tu: 8/10 so far.
:like: I did that earlier this year, do love a good Bond filmI bought the whole collection on Blu-ray like 10yrs ago, so I have everything up to skyfall, I thought I had spectre but apparently I don’t and I’ve never seen no time to die,, which is on tv yet spectre isn’t,, but I’ll probably just watch what I can from the very beginning all the way to the end, the nice thing is I’ve been getting up early so I get a good 2hrs before anything goes on so off to the living room with the big tv, fun part is normally one of the cats will come out and sit on my lap since both the dogs are still in the bedroom sleeping.. so I can do like the villain and keep the cat on his lap and pet him, :D
No Bond this morning, I watched “Violent night” which is a good movie, some good laughs!

I watched that last night, really good movie.Liked it? I laughed my butt off through the whole thing, the other day I watched the new Indiana jones, something “the dial” not bad was long, the Mrs wasn’t too happy since it’s not her thing, especially being long, yet she did like the one before, “the crystal skull”,, this morning I watched a video on how Harrison ford started everything, and how starting with Star Wars Indiana even started, that and how there won’t be anymore, the dial was the last, and how no one can take fords place as Indy, it just won’t be the same or better!
Die Hard yesterday, and Die Hard 2 today,, gotta watch Xmas movies :D
JR
This morning, I watched “Under Siege” 1 & 2, #2 is ok but #1 was my high school must watch!

The Father (2020)
No politics, just a heart wrenching story of losing one's mind to old age. Stellar acting by Anthony Hopkins, never seen better from him. 10/10, no joke.
High Plains Drifter 7/10
Starring Clint Eastwood (1973 )
A gun-fighting stranger comes to the small settlement of Lago and is hired to bring the townsfolk together in an attempt to hold off three outlaws who are on their way.
Pretty good western on Netflix right now.
Sea Fever 2019. Irish fishing vessel with an unfortunate voyage. Good movie. Why do Irish films always have such good musical support and actors? End credits feature song 'Shallows' by Daughter. Good stuff. Best wishes. G
:hatsoff:
The wife and I watched a movie this afternoon, it was based on something that was real, on someone that ran a test on college students, my jaw was dropped through the whole freaking movie, I won’t even post the name!
JR
:pok:Yes?
We saw Dune Part 2 this weekend. Not bad, if you don't know the book. The visuals were great and the acting was good (except for Christopher Walken; it felt like he was phoning his role in). Looks like there's going to be a Part 3, which is fine. I keep telling myself that no movie made from a book will satisfy everyone because everyone has their own mind pictures of what it should be :PI read the book like back in 91, I don’t remember anything..
Dante's Peak 1997. I'm not a huge disaster movie fan, but this one was pretty good. Seems like I have seen it before. Best wishes. GHa, and I watched “volcano” I ran out of time or the 2nd movie was going to be, Dante’s peak, lol,, but since the Mrs is up it was the first but now second of the “twilight” collection..
;)
Hmmm.... Have you seen Pacific Rim? From 2013. Might like that one. Best wishes. GNo, I just watched the trailer, didn’t find it too interesting, yet Ron Perlman did pop up,
How good is Tombstone, though? :like:Good. Very, very good!
Amazing cast, great action, definitely a favorite. :tu:
How good is Tombstone, though? :like:Yeah I’d say it was pretty good if you like westerns, as far as the cast goes, here’s the rest, the others you should know just by looking, unlike the other three that were like hmm, I know that voice but can’t figure out,
Amazing cast, great action, definitely a favorite. :tu:
How good is Tombstone, though? :like:It’s fantastic.
Amazing cast, great action, definitely a favorite. :tu:
It’s fantastic.Agreed, not only did he do some good action, but he also had to do it acting sick, so yeah he nailed it..
Lots to like, but I feel Val Kilmer kind of stole the show as John “Doc” Holliday. “I’m your huckleberry.”
Wer 2013 About as good as a modern werewolf movie gets. Fun. Not for the kids. Best wishes. G
;)
I think I have seen 12-15 of those Marvel flicks. What, no X-Men? Maybe you have seen all of those already. Best wishes. GOh heck I own every x-men, yeah they are a marvel, but everyone in that list are all connected, each one of the characters somehow shows up in some other one of those movie, like iron man, hulk, and others all show up in the avengers, I’m just watching them in a diff order, not by when each hit the big screen, but by the time the movie took place, like the first one takes place in the 40’s and then the second takes place in the 90’s, so it’s just going to keep climbing the timeline,
Call of the Siren 2023 Not a lot of siren movies out there. A good one. Best wishes. G
:D
