Well as an ex forester its only fitting that i should go get the chainsaw badge, i moved onto other things but sometimes..just sometimes, i miss it.

the things you do when your'e bored...
This is my 029, had it for years, never missed a beat, prefer the huskies for in the woods but this one is my go-to saw for firewood.
I got given this next one, i love it, 1949 Danarm

Tore this one down, rebuilt it, painted it..got it fired up and it ran for 30 secs, piston ring snapped and scored the piston, i think something went wrong in the rebuild.. will try again one day as i really really want to drop a few trees with it.

Its a heavy old saw, any rough ground its easier to just carry it than to drag it around on its wheels though.
I have a healthy respect for the old timers that used these old saws day in day out, respect too for the guys using axes and cross-cuts :salute:

Wow, that's awesome - and deserves some special kind of badge I reckon!

Thanks, personal preference, lighter, quicker revving, can throw them around a lot easier, i just always preferred huskies for work, dont get me wrong, Stihls are great saws, i own 3 i think, just im a husky guy ... basically its like Husky or Stihl, Nikon or Canon, Apple or Android, all are pretty much the same, just we tend to lean towards one or the other.

Very cool pics Borg :o :like: :like: I have heard many say they are Husky fans over Stihl and vice vs. ;) I also like a good McCulloch :salute: I have used them all but not much :tu: I do however use cut-off saws a lot and prefer the Stihl to the Huskies in that aspect :D Love the old rebuilt one and hope you get a chance to work on it again and get to use it :like:

All our equipment is Stihl, but I have to say some other brands have nice tools too. I particularly like Honda´s weed wacker, with its 4 stroke engine.

McCulloch yep, another old name, not sure now but used to make some good stuff, Cut off saw i would agree, Stihl every time, leaf blowers again Stihl, as for weed wackers im sorry but im going with Husqvarna again, never used a 4 stroke brush cutter though so who knows, Honda does have a good name for sure.
At the end of the day, just go with whatever your closest dealer sells, if its a good established make :tu:

My old saw is a little Mac110 for the 70s or 80s, metal body, needs some TLC to get it going.
My newer one is bigger and plastic-y but does the job.
I didn't set out to get McCulloch saws, it's just what I have ended up with.

Well, I have heard the old McCullochs were good and the newer ones are rubbish. ;)
