I think Silver Tech are my favorite scales. I wish they had them in 58mm as well. Who else would like to see it available for other models?
-
They do exist in 58mm...
-
I too am fond of the silver tech line
-
The 91mm scales should be plus though.

Yes, the new brighter leds came with the silvertech Signatures I think.

Are there any non LED Silver Tech 58mm scales available? I'd like to keep the toothpick and tweezers but like those scales.

There are no Silver Techs in my area!!! :ahhh

People seem to prefer Silver Tech over red, black, blue and other Cellidor colors and and the same time prefer red, black and blue (as well as other colors) much over the silver for alox. Go figure.
Now, jk aside, I personally like the look but do not like to be reminded that these are cheap, hollow scales resulting from cost reduction. I do not think that any of the solid-through Cellidor scales can be Silver Tech and that may be a reason why they are not so common on the 58 mm series because these are the only Cell. scales that (with two exceptions as I know - the backside scale for the pen and frontside scale for electronics) are still solid-through (filled in), probably because they are so thin to begin with.

'know what? I've never seen one in person. I have a feeling they're more impressive in person than on web images.
How is it different than just a transluscent scaled SAK? Because for me at least, if it is going to be transluscent, I'd prefer Onyx, Emerald, Sapphire, or Ruby color.

I got one.

I'm very old school when it comes to Vic SAKs. Red cellidor or silver alox. Period.

GigaHz,
That's a thing of beauty! The 64GB usb storage just go really well with the futuristic look of sliver tech. :tu:

A 111mm silver tech would look incredble. I have a 34ct with silver tech acales and

I had one Silvertech SAK, but I dropped it and a a fair sized chunk broke off. Since then I've not had another

My Silver Tech Spartan was a present from my wife. I like the 58 mm ones, if only they would not have had the red shield. (https://scontent-b-mxp.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/972084_10152469433161664_1421642880_n.jpg)

Yet another fan of the SilverTech scales here. I like them, but I would be happy enough if they showed up on more 91 mm models.

Nah, I just put some different scales on it and sold it to Mark :D

Less Silvertech would be a good thing...

Sorry, I'm a sucker for camo...
More choices on more knives would be a good thing. A camo Mountaineer, for example.

Another Silver tech fan here. :tu:

The Climber came wearing them, the Huntsman's set came from Ashley. The Climber has been seeing a lot of pocket time lately.....

It's very easy to swap scales from one SAK to another, so you can just buy a camo Spartan and put those scales on a Mountaineer. Or buy a set of camo scales (from felinevet :) ). There are a number of sellers on eBay who do just that.

Well, I do like Silver Tech scales but they are not my first choice -red nylon scales 8) .
-
Funny thing...
I had to take a quick trip down to Florida (where I am at the moment), and could only bring my Leatherman Style PS (airport carry-on idiocy). While I like it, I also wanted more robust scissors, and scoured the Daytona area for ANY MTs at a reasonable price (as in, NOT Military Surplus store rip-off prices).
I finally found a Target nearby that had Leatherman and Vic stuff.
And ended up with a Silvertech Climber.
It looks pretty frikkin sweet.
Oh... and pairs nicely with the Style PS, IMO.
I am normally a fan of tools with very bright colored scales, which make them easier to find if you set them down (or drop them in leaf clutter). However, the Silvertech is a pretty good second, and they look like they're all futuristic.

In fairness to Thunderpants, Silvertech is primarily for collectors in my mind - because it looks nice. Doesn't do the tool any favours other than that
In regular daily use, it's brittle, doesn't allow use of plus tools, and the scales clearly show all the crud and grime collecting beneath that's hidden with conventional scales. This is why I never bought another one - Silvertech is drawer fodder, and I don't buy SAKs for that. It's not a great choice for the scales on a working tool IMHO

Oh, what a scathing review for the Silver-tech scales. :o I agree about them showing off the debris under that pretty surface but just about ALL of the translucent scales do that too. Now a great idea was shown here before for coloring in those empty gaps to give it a nifty techno look while making the debris filled channels all but unseen.
Once off you might want to have a play with removing the silver paint, it can lead to quite a nice effect :tu:

Midnite Minichamp...
Silver Tech scales for other sizes like 74mm and 84mm SAKs are in order.
I really want completely transparent scales to be honest. Wanted them so bad I destroyed a set of Silver Tech scales... but that's another story.
