I'm not going to out him, but I think that it is worth letting you all know that one of our own has won the employment lottery- three months in Paris, France!
As envious as I am, I am also proud that one of us hit the jackpot, and I think we all need to congratulate him and give hi our support- and, since he's probably taking the next few days to pack and travel, let's support him so smurfing loudly that he can't help but hear that we are all 100% behind him on this!
Congratulations buddy- as I said, most of us add companies to our resumes, you add countries!

We have it here in Spain too... it's been a tough week adding to the stress of the trip.

I was planning to take my cybertool or spirit only to use at work of course, but it seems I may have to leave them here in Spain which is a huge PITA.
Bladeless options? :bnghd:

Congrats!
France is quite ok with knives.
I carry one if I go there.
Just be sensible like in the other Western-European countries.
Remember that Opinel is housed there and is sold in just about any magazine store.

Congrats on the win and good luck with the move! :tu:
There are quite a few brick and mortar knife shops in Paris, and they are great to visit and has a good variety of tools/knives to browse/buy from. Enjoy! :D

Wow, congrats Whoey!!!
Do you like French food, speak French? I understand they get snooty if you do not try.
Make the best of it and see the sites.

I was actually joking, but now you've got me thinking! :ahhh

If it was the notre dame contract, it would be because I don't smoke.
In all seriousness, wide skill range, languages are the key for the job.

Notre Damn
Funny typo :D

I have quite a few... not necessarily desirable ones.

3 weeks in and I'm finally settling in, glad I opted to bring my spirit and cybertool anyways, typically I leave them in my storage locker at work just to avoid any unwanted attention. I had to do a hard disk and keyboard swap on a laptop, could not have done it without my cybertool (which if you didn't know was gifted to me by some fine folks on the forum on the last mobile IT job I had several years ago in the UK and Germany)
The only main issue is that I work at 2 locations here in Paris, so I will need to carry on public transit when travelling between offices. Also I may want to do touristy stuff after work since I'm already in the area (which is my main reason I use my locker to keep them safe and me with fewer reasons to be hassled)

Doesn't it feel great to have the needed tools at hand? :like:
Great to hear you've settled in. I hope you're enjoying it.
I wouldn't mind seeing a pic or two sometimes :D
