I am in :D I won this in 1 of the MT.O anniversary giveways  Tahnks again Bob ;) :D This is a great little tool :tu: I said I would share my opinion on this little gem and well I like it :D
I like just about everything about it :) My only qualm is that there is no toothpick ;) I like the Skeletoolesqueness about it first an foremost as I am a fan of the Skeley. The pliers are handy to have with you as a sceondary det and can aid in certain tasks where u might need 2 pliers (1 for holding and the other for turning) The scissors seem to work very well and are on pair with the smaller Vic scissors IMHO :tu: The nail file seems to be of very good quality as well  Haven't tried the bottle opener function yet (as I don't drink it may not ever see use ::) :D ) All in all a very fine keychain size tool  It will definitely see some pocket time as I have been paring it with my Skeley :tu:
-
Does anyone feel difficult to pull the tweezers? I'm feeling kind of "special" here... :ahhh
Coming from the squirt ps4 I guess the main tools -- pliers and scissors -- are just the same. The PS4 delivers more functionality by size, while the style ps has a better bottle opener. On the aesthetic side the style lives up to the name.
It's a nice tool to pair with a small folder on a keychain, for example.
-
Dont worry,I kinda need another tool to use to remove the tweezers :oops:I've only taken the CS's ones out once, and never for the PS
-
Does anyone feel difficult to pull the tweezers? I'm feeling kind of "special" here... :ahhh
It is a challenge. But after some practice I've found that if you hook your nail under the fold at the bent end, and lift slightly, it usually pulls right out. From Gareth's photo:

-
I'm in. My CS is my keychain EDC. I've been wanting a PS but haven't had an honest need for it. I just want one. :D
I'm afraid that if I got a PS, I'd never be able to make up my mind about which one I wanted to carry with me... And, I find the scissors and blade more useful for my needs than the pliers.
I might get a PS for my wife though; she's been complaining about the weight and bulk of the PS4 I gave her a few months ago. She uses the pliers for pulling burrs out of her poodle's fur after walks.

I was wondering why is this part bent like this. Does anybody know the reason?
-
My thought is that it just to make it easier to open with the side of your thumb. Just an educated guess though.
-
my 1st PS was lost......I just won one off ebay today!
I missed that little MT!

Anyone flown within the UK with the Style PS?
In fact has anyone tried flying with it anywhere?
Technically it should be fine but who knows with airport security ::)

Tell me about it Gareth. Actually it was a gift from a friend, never got the tweezers with it :( Any idea where I can pick some up?
-
You could always drop Whitby a line, they're the main UK Leatherman distributor, if they don't have one for a fairly nominal cost I'd be surprised.

OMG !
Is it OHO blade ?!?!
Nice mod BTW
-
Not to steal Colin's thunder, but that's almost certainly done like that from the factory. However I wasn't aware that style of blade ever made it past prototype, or if it did then it was in very limited numbers. I think that's a rare one Colin, but Bob will know for sure. :tu:
Oh and good spot 3bdul3zeez, I totally missed that. :salute:
See this thread for some of the prototype pics from 2010's SHOT show.

gareth may be right.
super rare if its from the factory!
-
That is indeed an escapee from the Leatherman factory Colin. :salute: None were supposed to reach the public with one-hand opening blades. Sometime after we handled those prototypes at the 2010 Shot Show the decision was made to go with nail nicks instead of the thumbhole.
-
wow but that's really a knockout. Can it be really opened with a single hand in practice? As the tool is pretty small it would not be easy to do OHO even with that hole.
-

I hate nail nicks. =(

As small as the Style CS is, mine actually one hand opens quite well... even with my big hands. Hopefully I will find the time to finish my Style CS Project (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,19984.0.html), but, it is just one of many pending projects and this one is at the bottom of the totem pole.....

I was wondering why is this part bent like this. Does anybody know the reason?
Simple. It's for your thumb to open the bail, so you can remove it when it's clipped to something. Otherwise you'd have to push the front of the bail, which generally puts your thumb in the way of whatever you're unhooking it from.

Has anyone with hands bigger than a five year old ever successfully opened that thing with one hand? I have trouble with anything smaller than a Dragonfly, my Jester is just barely manageable, and I can't OHO the older Ladybugs with the smaller hole.

I can OHO my Bug ... BUT I cannot OHO it AND keep my tongue in my mouth and my shoulders level at the same time. It's one of those "concentration required" tasks, that comes with all kinds of involuntary movements

Thanks for that mental picture.
-
Good to see an old thread get a kick up the bottom. :D I can now add a Style PS to my membership credentials. :)
@Gryffin - I never did get the Bug to OHO (and gave it away pretty quickly) but I could do it with the Honeybee (though still not easily), however the Grasshopper isn't too bad IMO. Not what you would call quick deployment, but I don't feel like I'm likely to draw blood either. ;)
-
I've been carrying a Style PS for a couple months now and I love it. Perfectly safe (and legal :D) for school, and the pliers are way more useful than SAK pliers. It's the perfect tool to carry with a dedicated knife or SAK.
-
The PS stays on the gadget key ring. :)
-
A Style PS arrived here today (along with a couple of little IDL pliers tools ;) )
Time to start pairing up SAK's with them :) I'll save the IDL results for another thread I reckon, but hot favourite for the PS is a black pioneer that doesn't see enough use. The pliers, scissors and file should compliment the Pioneer perfectly :D
-
Amici,
Count me in as a member, and I find that the PS is the perfect companion for minimalist EDC or backwoods carry along with a Folts minimalist better than dare I say... a Juice...
Just about the same functions, with 3/4 less the weight...
Cheers,
Serge

So that you can't twist it off of your key chain. I had another carabiner clip that did not have this and it would torque and the pins on the end would pop out of their holes allowing it to come off my keys frequently. I'm looking at you Nite Ize. LOL

Nice mod mate. :tu:
-
I have a Style PS and had (and gifted) a Style CS. The scissors on the CS were great, but I already had a pile of scissor-based keychain scale tools, and my friend needed a good, light-weight tool.
IF I did my math right, it seems that the Style PS is only very slightly heavier than adding the plier layer to a 91mm SAK, and the pliers are a LOT better. I'm not a super fan of the FRN panel on the PS, but I can live with it, and it seems to wear well.
I know a lot of folks have had problems with the carabiner detaching from whatever its been attached to, but I haven't had that problem at all. I do try to keep conscious of the possibility, though.
I think I'm with other folks' notion of it being best when being paired with a SAK. With a pair of scissors comparable to the VIC 58mm, so those are covered, I'm kind of tempted to pair mine with my Farmer. That's a lot of useful, there.
-
Farmer combos are good :tu:
I prefer the Pruner blade myself, so tend to carry other Alox, but essentially it's the same idea :)
I think I forgot to join this club!
I have a PS and a CS, and they both say Multitool.Org on them :D
-
I have a black CS on the car's keyring, i find it to be a great little tool, the scissors are great on mine. I gave one to my girl as a gift, one of those pink CS (breast cancer awareness) it is ok but for some reason i can't work out the scissors are less "powerful" like if they had less leverage...

I woudn-t go as far a saying that they are rare. But you don´t see them everywhere like the Style Cs around here.
I couldn´t help noticing that they changed the Leatherman logo since I got the CS.

So this may be a dumb question but what are the little holes on the blades for?
-
I may join this club soon. I came into the multitool world to mod. After research, I decided to first mod the Gerber Dime. After putting one key into it, a couple screws stripped! Might try out a PS/CS next. They DO look like neat little tools.
Of course, I opted for the Gerber Dime in the first place because it had more tools in it.....
-
So this may be a dumb question but what are the little holes on the blades for?
Style. 8)
Sorry, but they're purely decorative. :)

...i'm joining...CS MTo #006...PS didn't make it somehow.. :-[

I'm in! I got this lady in red at my Base Exchange for $10!!! :tu: I am pumped. They had tons of them in blue, but I had to dig to find a red one. I like it better than my Squirt and Dime. They are both a little too heavy for the key chain. I barely notice this little thing.

Still own and occasionally carry my Style PS :) Bloody good little pliers, decent nail file, scissors are fine at a push but the ropey scissor spring design is always a worry (already crapped out on me one and gone for warranty replacement). The carabiner keeps it attached to a black Vic Pioneer, and I've also just picked up a True Utility Mini Driver (as yet untested) to add to the combo to address the lack of Phillips drivers. I don't tend to use the 'biner as a bottle opener though, usually going for the Pioneers cap lifter instead.
It's one of three regular lightweight little combos that go in the pocket when I really don't need full sized tools. The other two lightweight options for me are Wenger Traveller and IDL T7, or the even smaller/lighter pairing of Wenger Pocket Tool Chest and Swiss+Tech Microtech

I picked up my Style PS recently an really enjoy it, nice little inexpensive piece to slap on a key chain. It kind of blends in with keys as a bonus.
Snaps closed just like my Squirts, very satisfying.

Unlike much of the internet, here at MT.O, we have no problem with 'thread necro'. Welcome to the owner's club for the Style PS.
I think it's a great tool, and one of the best for air travel, IMO.

Yup, I thought about turning it into a CP (blade instead of scissors). That heavy screwdriver or maybe a chisel would be a nice idea, too.
See what you did?! You got me thinking!

My Style family.
I'd always considered Style a nail breaker but when I spotted a blue one on Amazon for £7 I couldn't resist the chance. I addressed the deployment issues, cleared the file nail-nick of grit, enhanced the blade nail-nick (large but still smaller than Dime) and ground a finger relief for scissors access. I wonder why LM retired the tool and speculate if deployment issues was a factor but the improvements transform the usability. Compared with the Classic SD LM got the lanyard ring at the right end.
The Style PS/CSs all have a role as SAK partners. The 1/2 PS or CS partners Mechanic and the PS scissorless SAKS. Great pairings.

How durable / capable are the scissors on the CS model?
Are there any tools opposite the blade and file? That is on the other side of the handle?
-
How durable / capable are the scissors on the CS model?
On the later model CS there is quite a bit of snap-back in the springs, which is a good thing. The scissors themselves are great for fingernails up to cutting cardboard. Even clam packaging in some cases :salute:

Exactly what I'm after. Thanks.

So this may be a dumb question but what are the little holes on the blades for?
Style. 8)
Sorry, but they're purely decorative. :)
Are you sure about this? Aren't they used for wire stripping?...

Oh, I'm still a member, although I don't carry my PS anymore. Still working on the will to write to Leatherman and ask what they can do to solve this that doesn't involve spending more money in postage than it cost me to buy it...

If you have T6 drivers give me your address. :tu:
Thanks for the offer, Z. I'll try Leatherman first (after all, it's their responsability). Depending on their answer, I'll decide what to make of it.
 :salute:
Well you know where to find me. :D
Well, wrote to Leatherman USA. The closest representative they have is in Spain. Sent them the Style on September 25th, got it back today.
:mail: :tu:
Looks more like a new tool than a repaired one. Maybe it's easier to them to replace the tool than have all the trouble to replace the scissors.
Back to EDC it goes.

The postman dropped me off a lovely new PS recently, a replacement for the one that sadly decided to make a bid for freedom and has not been seen since...
I love these tools - the perfect compliment to a small folder like my Spyderco Urban or Vic Cadet to add the scissors and pliers that those miss. Not a particularly heavy duty tool admittedly, but very useful given the tiny space they take up in my pocket.
-
I have over half a dozen style PS/CS tools...with more that I want.
I have a PS and CS in every color....EXCEPT GREEN! I want it, I need it!
Lately Ive been carrying a red PS to school (I am a high school history teacher), its TSA approved, cant get in trouble for having a blade etc, though its a suburban/rural area, I doubt anyone would honestly say anything about the 1" blade on the style.
But I love carrying it because of the aforementioned bladeless-ness, but also its small size takes up so little space in my pocket, it doesnt dig into thigh as I move around (as a teacher you squat down...A LOT!).
Great tool.
If I could get an Alox Vic that was bladeless I'd try that, but Im a Leatherman man through and through.

What's wrong with green?

Nothing
Im hoping to acquire one soon. I want one, but not enough to pay 25+ for it on ebay
I want all colors, just never see them for sale
-
I have a NIP green CS (sorry, not for sale) in my 'backups'. Luckily, I have not had to use them as my current red CS is holding up just fine.
In fact, I just put a razor sharp keen edge on its blade. I use absolutely everything on this tool including the tweezers. I carry a set of nail clippers but rely on the CS's file to smooth things out :tu:
This is definitely my most used/carried Leatherman and I was very interested in the PS until I learned of all the scissor breakage issues.

Style PS :tu:
I must be living in a cave or something, I just discovered these! 2 things I like about it already are TSA compliant, and pairs nicely with a 2-3 layer SAK. All good so far, can't find any downside to it, except I do feel it pulling me ferociously toward the Dark Side. :ahhh
-
Really likning My CS as a compliment to My Skeletool. They are a great pairing without any overlap.

Can I join the Style club now.
I was in Kansas City & went to my favorite sporting goods store just because & to get a Skeletool. Talked to the salesman about reels & passed along some free information he needed. Then we walked over to the knives and multi-tools to get a Skeletool. Instead of giving me one just a Skeletool that was up front he walked to the back room and came back with a Skeletool, Style CS combo for the same price.
I acted all happy while thinking what the smurf am I going to do with that. So anyway I carried it in my watch pocket for a week, kind of as conversation piece. Then yesterday I had 4 rod holders to open up. They are packaged so you have to cut the plastic wrapping from around every inch of the rod holder. Started to use my Fallkniven PC but it is to big for that job. So I pulled out the little Style & it was the perfect tool for the job.
It's now found a permanent home in my watch pocket.
-
I had never even thought of buying a Style. I actually got it as a thank u gift from an eBay seller. I had bought a Skeletool CX from him and when it arrived, it was missing the second double ended bit that rides in the handle.
I emailed him about it, just to see if maybe it fell out somewhere. I wasn't too concerned about it. He said he would send me one.
A few weeks went by and I wasn't even thinking about it anymore. Then a package showed up. He had sent the bit, PLUS this Style CS AND a Gerber MP600 Scout as an apology for the lost bit!!!
Terrific customer service!!!
So, now the Style CS rides on my keychain...

Hi guys. How do you guys like the style ps pliers? Well... Not long before i found my climber a bit too big to pair up with my Rebar and thus I've got a Ps4 and tried to keychain it.
The little pliers of the Ps4 is excellent but the scissors is definitely a joke. It's sloppy, wobbly and have large blade play. It cuts paper and cardboards well but not in soft and precise material like ribbon or double side tape which i need to cut all the time. I eventually give it up and got a Rambler. The scissors is a lot more precise and useful to me but i kind of miss a pair of mini pliers and it is also a bit sad that the flathead on the Rambler is a bit too big to fit in my glasses screws.(the smaller f/p head on ps4 does well on it). I then tried to pair the rambler with the ps4 and found the whole thing too redundant.
I am thinking of getting a style ps to pair up with the rambler. I know the reputation for its scissors is not good as well but what i need is the pliers. Is it as good as the one on ps4? Also, is the f/p head on style ps the same size as the smaller one on ps4? I won't use the style ps scissors anyway so i don't care.

Hello!
When did the blade change on the Style CS?
I noticed that the older blades had two small "holes", while newer ones don't have them, plus the nail nick is in a different position.
Does anyone know when this happened?
-
I've got 18 Style PS :multi:
On the one I carry I've replaced the scissors with the blade from a Style CS. It's a proper mini skeletool now and I carry it with my customised Crunch.

Only one i have style 😁

Style ES with some friends
-
Seems my StyleCS came with a bit holder.
Ok so it isn't an exact fit but it does work pretty well. The carabiner spring only keeps a bit in place when there's no torque put on it. In use the bit wedges neatly inside the frame as the size difference is only about 2 layers of playing card stock.
-
Pretty cool :tu: Do you think that is will flex enough to warp the frame if used more than a few times
-
I imagine it would warp the frame of the tool after a few uses or a tight screw. I was thinking that one of the chicago screws from my kydex supplies put through that large hole should take the stress off the rivet and prevent that.
It seems like a good idea, but so do a lot of really stupid things. Won't learn if don't try.
-
I just ordered a new Style PS today for use during airline travel. Has anyone in this group had their Style PS confiscated at an airport in the U.S. or Western Europe? Thanks
-
I haven’t tried, but I do see them on eBay, stating TSA confiscated.
-
Purchased a Style CS on letgo (the second hand sales app) yesterday for a very good price (almost half of the actual price!) and gave it to my girl friend as a gift.
The thing is impressive! Small, snaps like a Vic, very light weight and even is visually satisfying for a small tool like that (this may not be a criterium for most).
The only thing that made me think is that the carabiner's spring is kind of soft. I had connected it to her key chain and it got loose and fell down as I was unlocking the door (luckily for me she didn't see that  :)
I never had the chance to even hold a Micra in my hands though, so I cannot compare.
-
My Style CS doesn't have the 2 holes in it's blade. Did Leatherman changed the design in some point? I liked this look more!
-
Could you take a pic of yours :salute: I thought that all had the 2 holes ???
-
Sure
-
Thanks :salute: I guess they just started using the same blade that they use in the Micra to save on production costs
-
That’s a possibility -a sad possibility. I like the old version more. But the style is a cool tool anyway.

I must be getting slow or forgetful but I just "discovered" that a 58mm toothpick is a perfect fit in the Style CS/PS tweezer slot.

Just slow
Glad you figured it out though ;) I have more use for the toothpick than the tweezers :D

Yeah, I'm the same. Can't think of the last time I needed tweezers but I definitely use a toothpick a lot.
-
I can't wait for this whole thing to be over so I can warranty my Style PS, from use the bit of metal that the scissors fold up into just... came off. So now the scissors won't stay folded closed basically making it uncarriable without a rubber band or other such nonsense!
-
I have both the PS and the CS. I'm a bit worried about the scissors on the PS so I don't use them often.
I wish they offered a PK version, pliers and blade. It would pair nicely with Victorinox Pioneer X and Farmer X.
I modded the tip of the pliers to give them more reach, when I try to remove a broken key from a lock. I used a dremel 3000. You can see them next to Victorinox mini pliers. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210702/c9043034ab0432106febb19caba69070.jpg)

Sooo, I noticed the price for Style CS has dropped to sub-$20 in places and they're seemingly all out of stock... is this the end for CS? I want a new one at a sub $30 price if I can.

Thanks :salute: I guess they just started using the same blade that they use in the Micra to save on production costs
Haven't been in this thread for awhile. From his pic I am thinking that looks more like a Squirt blade?
-
May be  I don't even remember what pic I was referring now :ahhh
-
It's the pic directly above your post I quoted...
-
Yeah, probably a Squirt blade, I do need to look at my newest Micra and see how different they are :salute:
-
They are a bit different, the tang is different, the notches are different in the place that they "lock" into place and the blade shape is just a bit different as well :salute:

Thanks for checking.
