Title: Sidebar Profile Icon Rank Thingy Number Style Paranoia

There's this row of icons underneath people's handles, and they're membership status, and whether they are "No Life Club", etc.

It's a row of stars, different colors, but now I've become a row of Golden Multitools. Which is fine by me, except I'm not sure it's a good thing ... but NKB Neil is ranked 5 Golden Multitools as well, so it can't be all bad; because maybe I was like thinking I've become a total five-time TOOL when I used to have golden stars. And It seems like some folks have only a few stars, or tools. And it's seemingly unrelated to post count. Perhaps posting frequency?

Furthering my panic, I attempted to take apart the php code in a determination of how the color, number, and style of these icons is generated on the dynamic viewtopic pages. (I'm a php coder and run my own forum on another subject...) To no avail. It's buried too deep and the php extensions are chmod out of my purview (which they should be).

I worry constantly that people won't like me. Or my posts. And that this system is watching me, and my posts, and what I read, and what I "google" and "froogle" on the other monitor while I read this stuff. And the fact I spend a lot of time at Atwood's site drooling yet never buy anything. Can the satellites see drool? I hope not. Maybe the icons are the ratio of time spent here vs. time viewing pornography. (Which doesn't apply to me, of course -- I don't even own a pornograph). But that begs the question which is the numerator and which the denominator. Maybe the stars are for viewing pornography, while the little multitools are for staring IN pornography. [Neil ! You cad!]

Help? What are these them thingos? Please tell. And what do they mean? How can I get more? How many do I need to WIN ??? :gimme:

Post by: Whoey on March 13, 2009, 11:30:21 AM: The stars are the default rating give by number of posts with the exception of admins/moderators who get a different set/colors.

The "golden multitools" are for charter members only.

Originally I had planned to replace all the stars with multitools, but I think this way makes the Charter Members that little bit more special.

Now the size and shape of my icons comes under scrutiny! It cannot be.

I thought there was filtering to prevent just such a thing. Once the "others" find out just how weak we are, it is the beginning of the end. Our EDC comes into question. Our delusions of adequacy thusly challenged.
