Today this beautiful damascus Pioneer X landed in my mailbox. This calls for a badge!
So starting tomorrow I will carry nothing else in my pockets but my wallet, keys and a Pioneer X! Let's see how good an EDC it makes!

Yes there are. I would suggest attaching it to your belt (or belt loop) with a lanyard.

So you got rid of poor old Pioneer X to make way for a newer, smarter one? That's cold G-Fiddy, even for a playa like you.
Good luck with the challenge. May the spirit of the original Pioneer X aid you during the 30 days.

Day 1
Started the day by taking the Vagabond off my keychain and put it on the shelf with its alox friends.

Oh my, look at all the dust on the shelf, need to clean it ASAP!
Took the Pioneer X out of its box.

If you always spare the nice and good things, you never really enjoy it. If you collect things only to look at it, you'd be off a lot cheaper just buying a photo-album or poster of it :D

Day 3
Like any workday the day starts with slicing an apple.
You know what they say: an apple a day keeps the doctor away
I actually eat two apples a day, just to be extra safe.

Is the Damascus stainless or do you get carbon taste in your apple? Does it slice as well as a regular Pioneer blade?

Some good questions. The blade is stainless, but nonetheless I immediately rinse and dry it after use. You do feel a bit more friction when slicing, compared to the normal pioneer blade.
-
Some good questions.
G-Fiddy, Following the global success of ZZ Tops 'Eliminator' album, why did the 'Tops replicate said album in 'Afterburner', 'Recycler', 'Antenna' and 'Rhythmeen' with each successive album being a paler and paler imitation, before I finally gave up and reconciled myself to only listening to pre-Eliminator 'Tops?

Probably to make deciding which 'Tops album to listen much easier for you.

Now I still have to wait for the other donors to arrive. And I'm also planning another practice mod first, with cheaper/more common parts, before I start working on this one with the more rare and expensive parts. Don't want to ruin the spatula and golfer parts by making stupid rookie mistakes!

Specifically, how are you EDC'ing this? You using a dangler or letting it float in a pocket?

Just letting it float in my pocket. I'm not into sheaths, lanyards and clips when it comes to pocket knives. Although for the big and bulky knives a belt sheath would be an option.

Also, he thanks me for trimming his nostrils. He wanted to do this himself, but he was short of hands.

You should see my SAK after a day's work with leaf blower and weed whacker. Sand, dust and a green goo will be in my pockets, in my SAK, in my underwear, everywhere!
Next time I'll have to remember not to clean it before taking a pic!

Nice! There is something with a roadtrip that is magical. What is that multicolored thing to the left?
Own and hitched a ride in many different Volvos but sever seen that?
It's not failure if you learn something from it
-
Just a visit to my parents ;)
The little device on the left side is the switch and fuel level indicator of the LPG installation. Makes driving the Volvo a lot cheaper than on petrol. LPG is around €0,60 per liter, petrol is around € 1.50 per liter.
Not every car is suitable for LPG, but these older 5 cillinder Volvo engines do exceptionally well on LPG.
This Volvo S70 has LPG installed for about 150.000 kilometers now.
We also have a 1998 Volvo V70 which already has LPG since it was sold to it's first owner. It now has 550.000 kilometers and still going strong!
-
That is a great model and still have the "skövdefemman" I used to have a V70 GLT from - 98 lovely car that had everything I wanted except from 4wd so I sold it and bought a Jeep wj instead but still miss the volvo sometimes
It's not failure if you learn something from it
-
I have seen a few vehicles over here that were switched over to LPG as well :tu: I wished they made this more of an option on more vehicles as they seem to run well on them and from your feedback they definitely can last a long while mileage wise :o :like:
Great pics as well buddy and safe travels to the parents house :salute: :like:

Great pics and can't wait to see what mods you come up with :dd: :like: :like:
I have a couple of mod projects i'm thinking about. For two of them the design is decided and the materials present (the "Urban Knife" and "CyberClipper" projects, more information soon! :D), for the others I still need parts and the configuration may still change.

I don't think so, the color depends on the light. Sometimes it's more grey, sometimes it's more greenish.

After 30 days of work it's time for the Pioneer X to lay down, relax and enjoy the good things in life.
After carrying only the Pioneer X for 30 days it's time to draw some conclusions.
For the everyday carry in urban life the Pioneer X has everything you need. The only thing I kind of missed is the small blade. I always prefer to use a small blade for things like cutting tape (leaves sticky residue), so the large blade stays clean. Because of this, I was now forced to use the scissors more often but now the scissors got more sticky residue. I have said it before, but a Rancher X or Electrician X would be even more perfect than a Pioneer X.
When I was home I had to grab one of the other SAKs a couple of time because I needed a specific tool that isn't on the Pioneer X. In particular I found out that I use a metal file more often than I realised. I guess the perfect EDC knife should have the tools of a Rancher X and a metal file.
It took me some time to get used to the nailnick of the Pioneer X being on the wrong side. Funny thing, muscle memory :)
The damast blade on this Pioneer X is a beauty. At first it felt like it has a bit more "friction" when cutting through things than with the normal large blade, but the friction seemed to reduce over time.
I guess that's all that I can say at this point! It was fun to do this challenge and I can certainly recommend the Pioneer X.
The Pioneer X is taking some rest and says goodbye to you all!
