This is a thread that's been sorely lacking. >:(
So, to start of Post #1 of what I predict will be a top 10 thread within a few months:
Today I used my PocketWrench II to fix the secretary's electric stapler that was jammed up. PocketWrench II--a kingmaker! :salute:
-
Any pictures? Was she cute? :D
Of the secretary of course. ;) We know how a Pocketwrench II looks like. :P
Good idea for a thread, Nate.
-
Used my Tofty to open one of my display cabinets at work
-
used my gerber shard to fix a broken alarm clock

Used my Atwood Crypto as a wedge, to level a drawer.

Boker plus Vox to pry a window safety catch open.
-
Atwood Shiner opened a cold Mexican glass bottle Coke*. :tool:
* Pretty much all I've ever done with the thing, open bottles. Thanks again to GG! :P
-
PocketTool X Piranha (Leatherman now...)
Pulled a bunch of electrician staples. (Excellent tool for that job!)
-
Today, I was hanging a new outdoor light. The ground screw was tightly fastened, with a hex head and Phillips slots. I could not get it to budge with my Leatherman Squirt ES4, Leatherman Charge or Vic Cybertool. Before resorting to going and getting the impact driver, I tried my Atwood Crypto (with 1/4 bit opening). It turned the hex head with no issues. :)
-
Not today, but last week, I used my Pocketwrench II to install two G-hooks (are they called that in English?) to a couple of lights used at a band performance.
-
Hook clamps usually :)

Hook clamps usually :)
Aah, that makes sense :)
-
I used a Nite Ize DoohicKey to pry pebbles from the sole of my shoe and clean some dirt from underneath a fingernail.
-
Nice thread!!
Used Atwood G3 keyton to scrap some dirt from magnetic clutch coil housing we removed from one truck...
:D
100$ tool on plain mud + oil
Someone would say I'm nuts!! But I hope not you guys... :D

I attached a154CM Piranha 2 to a spare house key in my garage toolbox. Never use for anything else, so it just helps new locate my key when I get locked out of the house. My Craftsman 4way driver popped the tab on a soda. I don't use my few one piece tools that much

I used my new titanium OPMT as a wedge to open a steel clip:
This is the clip. The thick main part is about 2.4 mm thick, so it's very difficult to bend by hand.
This is my "Tiremet" tool, which I got from eBay. It has hex wrenches, bottle opener, screwdriver and package opener. I got it mainly for the package opener. If you Buy It Now, it costs $23 USD but I got it from auction.
This is it forced into the clip (reenacted picture). The tool is 4 mm thick, which I thought was a bit bulky, but as a wedge the thickness is useful.
Unsurprisingly, it suffered a few scratches, but only on the surface. It fared much better than aluminium would have, which it weighs similar to!
I realised this wedge function is something my existing tools don't have, and it might come in useful. If I didn't have this OPMT, what would I have used? A screwdriver, I guess, or maybe a fork. But the screwdriver needs to have a very thin point, and e.g. the Leatherman Rebar's screwdrivers don't have this.

I'm confused
I thought piranha 2s are made from 420 stainless.
I know my ptx piranha is made of 154cm I thought all leatherman tools are made of 420 stainless
am I wrong ?
PS
I used my pocketwrench 2 to remove the screw holding the air filter onto my mower this evening.
-
LM's site states Piranhas are made of 420.
-
Used my pw2 to loosen the screws holding a fridge door on that I was removing from a home .
it was to big to fit through a doorway.
-
I pried a pebble from the sole of my shoe using a Nite-Ize DoohicKey. Been doing that often with Schrade titanium pry tool, as well.
-
Used the PWII to open a big plastic package.
-
Used my PWII to measure the diameter of a hole in a pipe at work today.
-
today
I used my pw2 a bit extension and nut driver to remove a water meter remote.
-
I used my Atwood Crypto to fix a broken frost free hydrant. I used the prytip (with the hammering of a pipe wrench) to break free the side plates on the handle. The open end alligator wrench was used to loosen nuts that hold the handle on and the slider bolt that pinches the long valve rod.
-
Used my Leatherman 1 to pry open a can of stain.
-
Nothing :multi:
-
I used the bottle opener. I don't drink from those bottles, so I don't think I've ever used one. This was a bottle of cough mixture whose stopper was difficult to open. It worked quite well, despite being a different size and material from normal bottles.
-
I did some serious prying with my pw2 opening some mailboxes.
-
On Saturday, I had to fix a frost free hydrant. I used my Atwood Crypto and a pipe wrench to remove the side plates that attach the handle to the rod.

Yesterday used the PWII to scrape off some crude from a piece of pipe. Today used the PWII topry open a high pressure clamp that was stuck shut. :)
-
I used a Nite-Ize DoohicKey to open a UPS package.
I carry a knife, but wanted to see how well the DoohicKey performed this task. The DoohicKey required noticeably more effort and took longer, but it presented no danger of damaging the box contents.
I gave my wife the gift of a DoohicKey and she put it to use the next day, tightening a screw and scraping goo off something at work.
-
Tighten up a leg of table at friends house with Atwood Prybaby...
Though it is ISO and we use metrics here it was up to the task!!
-
I put together a baby walker with my piranha.

Well done!
-
The pull tab on my can of chili pulled off so had to finish opening the can of chili with the Pocketwrench II. :D
-
Well not today but yesterday I used my training knife with my friend and we were playing with it. I was actually using it in place of my latex sword... :D . This is the first time I was using it for such purpose as of now they were used only for some serious purpose like getting trained to use any knife.
-
Scraped some crude off a HVA with a PWII. :D
-
I used the flat blade on a Nite Ize DoohicKey as a screwdriver to turn a slotted screw. The screw is used to access my headlamp's battery compartment.
There are dozens of screwdrivers scattered around the house, but I keep the DoohiKey on my key ring so it was nearby.
-
I used my Leatherman 1 to remove adhesive labels from 200 plastic trays.
-
Used my Pocketwrench to scrap wax off the floor.
-
I used a Leatherman #2 one piece tool to pry the cover off a plastic faucet knob on my sink.
The edge of the Leatherman #2 tool is sharper than my other one piece tools. A more blunt tool would not work here.
-
Used my niteize doohicky to pry off the outer rings of some sprinkler heads. Someone didn't install them properly and so I had to remove them to try and reset them properly.
-
My wife used her Nite Ize DoohicKey to remove staples from the gloves she just purchased.
-
opened a soda with my brewzer
-
Used two PWII's to tighten up the tool end of a friends ST200. :D
-
I used a Leatherman #2 to lift up the molle webbing on the back of a new sheath so I could thread a strap underneath the webbing.
Earlier, I used it to pry a pebble loose from the sole of my shoe.
-
I used the PWII to pry a clove out of a bulb of Siberian glaric. :D
-
I used a Nite Ize DoohicKey to pry an AA battery from a tight battery holder.
BTW, my wife lost her Nite Ize DoohicKey. It must have fallen off her key ring which she often puts in a jacket pocket. Could be the same unintentional gate opening problem which haunts the original S-Biners.
I replaced her DoohicKey with a Leatherman #2 pry tool.
-
Amici,
Despite that fact that I loathe Gerber MT's, there is only ONE that I will carry.. that is the Gerber Artifact.. I like the replaceable X-acto blade first off, and second, the Phillips head is pretty reliable also.. It can be mean in the pocket, but clip it and it rides fine.. Today I used mine to open mail as well as pry open a paint can lid for some touching up around my fortress of solitude while the weather allowed for it..
Cheers,
Serge
-
Opened a couple oarcels with my brewzer, a couple beers at the beach and scraped some gunk out of a gasket
-
Not sure if this qualifies as a multi, but I EDC an offset screwdriver in the same pouch with my Rebar and Pocketwrench- when you really need one, there is nothing else that works at all.
I used it to fish laundry soap packets from the vending machine for a little old lady. I just needed the reach and the right angle.
-
Bring some love back to this thread people! I used my Raker Ring Tool today to pry pieces off of a door frame to put in an alarm system.
-
I did.....nothing with them. Damned Shelf Queens!

I used the quick brew to open some beers. :drink:
-
I used the Boker Minibar to pry the top off a plastic shampoo bottle before recycling the bottle. The cap was tight and not meant to be removed by the consumer.

I used the pointed end of a Boker Minibar to pry a lock washer off of a carriage bolt on my wheelbarrow. The lock washer had become slightly deformed and wouldn't slide freely off the carriage bolt.

Used this great tool a bit today. We were at the dining table (lotsa people) and I'd left the jacket at the entrance. I had my SAK there, and my MT was on my belt but it wasn't appropiate to take out such a beast (SOG Powerplier) in there.
The son of one of the guests came to me after being told I was the guy to ask for when something broke (I'm known as the "always prepared" guy almost everywhere I go), 'cause his new drone's controller needed new batteries. I unscrewed the four phillips with the piece, pried open the really stiff AA batteries and changed them for the ones he had in hand, and screwed it back again.

No one even noticed, the kid got what he wanted and everyone happy as he went away to play with his stuff.

It's a Swisscard driver from Victorinox or any other brand. It is basically a four headed slab of metal, that you find on Vic Swisscards as well as most of their knockoffs and copies. It can be purchased separately, though, as it is a removable piece from the card itself.

Busting taped boxes. Add some sweat to the box cutter end, and the friction rips the tape apart! Still hard to believe that I still EDC this crazy little OPT after all these years. Is one of two tools I can use at work that cannot be considered a lethal weapon.

Used the strap cutter on my CRKT KERT to shorten the straps on the bottom that adjusted the shoulder straps on my backpack today at college. While I had both a Case Hawkbill electrician's knife and a Bear Jaws on me, I figured most people wouldn't know what the KERT was, so I used it instead. It's stored on the keyring slot inside the front pocket of my pack, a SwissGear.

CV PocketWrench II. While studying for my Siemens Mechatronics Level II test, my grandmother tells me she needs help unscrewing a gate hinge. Someone rammed into our front gates, breaking the aluminum elbow in half. So, we had to use a spare 4 foot farm gate to temporarily replace that until my granddad and I can get the new elbow on the old gate. She was trying to unbolt the hinge to adjust it with a pair of slipjoint pliers and had partially rounded the nut off. So, I pull out the PocketWrench II, and it both loosened and tightened the hinge with no problem, and more leverage than the 4" Craftsman Crescent that it replaced, since that only has like a 2" handle, as Wilde changed the smaller head to be as big as a 6" on the current model.
-
At the hardware store used the Pocketwrench to measure in eights of an inch plastic sliders for our dining room chairs feet.

My Dooohickey, leashed to a table, openned beers at a block party this afternoon.

-
I just ordered one of those Gatco Frog tools, it's automotive-specific features are often needed, but not found in the toolbox easy.
Found a new use for the CV Pocketwrench II.
I was fixing a section of fence that had been cut, and was having trouble twisting the wire when I spliced it into a section running perpendicular to it. My 6" Lucas Engineer's Pliers couldn't get enough leverage or grip, the head of the fence pliers couldn't get in there, so I pulled the PocketWrench II out of the Leatherman Surge's sheath, stuck the 1/4 bit driver hole near the end of the wire, and using that method, had no problem twisting it tight. I think my next purchase will be the big Orbis fencing pliers with a linesman's style head. 6" and 7" pliers fit great in a pocket, but fail in the leverage department.
