Title: Trauma shears multitool
Post by: patrat on July 13, 2012, 05:45:18 PM
These are not out yet, but the latest issue of machine design had an interesting article on an upcoming set of high end trauma shears that are multi-functional.

Neat!

I've always wanted to make a pair of beefy shears fold into a MT handle...but I think this is much cooler.

I also like that they show the ACTUAL rapidprototype prototype!

The team also incorporated suggestions from EMT personnel. So the shears include a ripper attachment with replaceable blade for quickly slicing though clothing, a bottle opener for medications, a key for opening and closing oxygen tanks, and a window punch.

And who's medication would that be...?  :D

Great find. I'll prefer that over the Zwrecks LM is putting out there.

$20-$60 for a medical use devise  :o :o :o , no way  :P :D I am thinking $150+  :P :D.

Looks kinda chunky  I wonder how big they actually are & would you want them flapping around on your belt  .

Really interesting tool , I would be keen to hear how they go in the real world  .Cutting kevlar would be tricky I would of thought

You can get one for $500 that works with sketchup models! I plan on getting on when I design my new shop.

I joined www.assentworks.ca. A community maker space with some serious tooling.

You'll be seeing some pretty intense projects when time permits.
