what is a juice sc2? thanks for the info.
I believe it is the same as an S2 but with an additional corkscrew.
That is really weird!!!
Odd how the SC2 was the only Juice to have the "long blades" fold from the end opposite the plier.:pok:
Nice work,
Now who has them all and can line them up for a group photo?

Well i can't do any more till Leatherman get some more pics up :pok: :D
The short purple line above the Squirt S4........right about top center......which tool does that relate to?
Lines laid out nice and neatly now, do you think they need to be different colours? And does it need names for the tools? If so where abouts?
(http://www.roadie1986.blogdns.org/Timeline3icon.jpg) (http://www.roadie1986.blogdns.org/Timeline3.jpg)
I'm thinking names directly below each tool as well. And yes, maybe a 3 or 4 colours to make it a little easier to see. :)
Looks great mate. :)

Trouble with names below each tool would mean moving them all (at least some) up which would be a lot of work :-\
Down the side it is then. :D
I actually did that post before I saw your side text examples. They look pretty good.
Cheers :) It now needs to go in the Wiki, and have a link to it from your first post :)
Let me know when you get a link and I'll edit it. :)

Yeah, but to bad they didnt bring it back for the 25th anniversary. They did a sterling silver Charge and Wave, but it would have been nice too see a 25th anniversary PST, because I would be getting one. I had one about 8 years ago, and stupid me got rid of it after the knife closed on my hand and resulted in me getting stitches, It was my fault, but every since than I love the locking feature they offer.

Mike's would only go rusty if you'd sent him one. Suppose you could do a Vic one, but it'd only have 2 tools on it.
And they'd slide off, due to shininess ;)
Anyway - who's going to tell Ryan that there's a tool missing? :P

I PM'd Def about it; he said that "Leatherman would neither confirm nor deny the existence of a new Core.".

Can some one write out a list of the new tools for me please....i've not been keeping up to date with these things....sorry!! I have been using my Wave pretty much daily since i got here though!! Swisstool is sat in my EDC bag should I need it, along with my Swisschamp (thanks Dunc :) ) I even used my Wave to save a childs finger (ish) they had something wrapped round it so tight it was cutting their circulation so out popped the Wave's scissors :)

Mr. 600 doesn't have any Gerbers with him.......? :(
I think they just decided it was time for an update :)
Only the Micra, Crunch and remaining Juice models survived the great cull of 2004!
I noticed that the Micra has been around since 1996... time for an update mayhaps???
I had written this chart up in another thread, but here it is stickyfied so it is a little easier to find for those who are interested.

The anniversary models might make it a bit tricky, beside, we know when they came out as they're called the 10th, 20th, 25th Anniversary etc ;)
I just thought the SLV is the same as the SC2 and Pro, as in they were specifically done for Costco, so probably makes sense to include it - what does everyone else think?
Someone going to compile a list of dates and models for me then  :P
In other news... I have a tiny caterpillar on my lip!

Errrrrr.... OK - off the top of my head:
1993 - 10th Anniversary Gold PST (200 made(?))2003 - 20th Anniversary Wave (Generally available)
2003 - 20th Anniversary Signature Wave (500 made)
2008 - 25th Anniversary Wave (Generally available)
2008 - 25th Anniversary Sterling Silver Charge
2009 - Damascus Wave
There may have been another 25th anniversary Charge, but I am too idle to go and look it up and I don't have one, so therefore it doesn't exist in my mind :P
I realise I haven't updated anything yet....been a little busy recently. Various family things and work, hope to get back on track with it next month :)
thanks for the info.
no more s4? =(
I was going to send mine in and have them send me a brand new one.
I really like the scissors on the pliars spot. oh well.
thanks for the info.

I'd guess they'll still have them kicking around as well (if they can't repair your own one that is). You can always get in touch and find out. Alternative might be PS4 or maybe Style CS.

I guess a PS4 wouldn't be bad. But the style cs...no thanks. (no offence)

None taken. The PS4 seems a more likely alternative anyway, and I still think there is a good chance they'd have a S4 on the shelf or fix your one up anyway.

Also might be good to correct the Skeletool and Skeletool CX to 2008. ;)
Wasn't the Freestyle CX retired in 2012? Also, the Genus should've moved up two spots.
Wasn't the Freestyle CX retired in 2012? Also, the Genus should've moved up two spots.
I moved the Genus up, thanks! :tu: But as regards the Freestyle CX, my notes say that it's retirement was announced in the summer of 2011. Is that incorrect?
Ah, probably it took awhile for the old stock to sell out. :salute:
I'm sure I've seen it here before, but cannot at this time. When did Leatherman start date stamping their handles? Mine is not stamped at all, so I'll assume it's in that time frame? Right?
I'm sure I've seen it here before, but cannot at this time. When did Leatherman start date stamping their handles? Mine is not stamped at all, so I'll assume it's in that time frame? Right?
Early 90s. November 1992 judging by the PST thread.
My new BO Blast is dated 1212 / 1212 everything I have seen shows production ended in 2011. just sharing the info
Interesting indeed. Leatherman moved the Kick, Fuse, and Blast into the "Retired Products" section of their website in late 2011, so that is what we based their retirement date on in this timeline. However, given the 1212 dates on Detron's handles, it is clear they were still producing tools throughout the entire year of 2012. Hmm, perhaps they were still fulfilling orders, even though the tools themselves were no longer listed as "current" on their website? ???
In any case, I have updated the Timeline in the first post of this thread based on this new info. Thanks Detron! :)

Hey LM fans and experts,
Does anyone know please when in 2001 the Juices first became available
ie What date codes?
I have a 0611/0711 and was wondering how close to first production this tool is !!
Or put another way - What's your earliest dated Juice?
I am guessing they were announced at Shot - which is January? Was it going back then?
But probably became available mid year? That is what usually seems to happen.
I guess they could have been manufactured (and date coded?) throughout the year??
Thanks guys

Edit: Oops - Dates corrected - Thanks Poncho for spotting the typo/error
Knifeless Rebar... :pok:
Is the RX even out yet?
Updated the list.
It is a shame nobody cared about the pocket tools.

We do need to try and get something together with at least a timeline or somthing :tu: I remember when they bought out a company a few years back and started making the tools from some of those patents and went from there but not sure about release dates on them  Somebody might be able to email LM about it cause surely they keep better records now with all of our new technological advances :D
Interesting, Is there a date code on each half of both handles ?
Interesting, Is there a date code on each half of both handles ?
That's correct, each half of each handle has a date code and all are from '97. 0897, 0997, 1097 and 1197.
You are missing the MUT EOD on your list. When did that model become available? Thanks!

I may be wrong but it either came out the same year 2010 or the next year 2011  I am almost positive that they came out at the same time though
I think the plan was for the first generation of Squirts to replace it but that still didn't kill it off :o It outlived those and may very will outlive the second gen ones as well :like:
gotta admit i do love the family tree
Great job on the family tree!
Great job on the family tree!
Thanks Elgie. Updated version due out on the weekend. :)
Welcome to :MTO: abwaluyo  I am going with Max about the R and TM meaning Registered and Trademark  Registered for a trademark will likely be an older tool as it hasn't been for sure approved at he time and TM will be newer as it was approved :tu: Datecodes inside the handles of the Surge will likely prove the theory  I am sure exceptions to this can always be found though :D

True Poncho. :iagree:I just found out that PST had experienced something like this. Thanks for the info Max.
Leatherman failed in their efforts to patent the PST in the early days, so they registered the design instead which gave them some means to go after other brands copying the design. This is probably a similar strategy they did for Surge. Trademark typically relates to the product name. I’m no expert on this, so maybe others can chime in.
Hello ABURABURA, I think the clip-point is an older variant. Should be covered in the PST chronology thread...:facepalm:ok thank you!
Hi ! I just got in the mail a new Leatherman pst2. With the date 0296 ! Does anybody know the month where Leatherman started producing the pst2 in 1996 ? I will add pictures later! And the rare thing is that it doesn’t say Leatherman pst2 or Leatherman pst on it. It just say Leatherman tool.
Nice to get a new one all these years later. :tu:
According to David LM may have used older handles:
"I got another unmarked PST II in a week or two ago dated 1195 & 0296"
https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,15102.0.htmlthanks for the info!
It is possible that the date code is when the handle was made, not when the complete tool was assembled, plus LM may have replaced with a used (and therefore older) handle when doing maintenance under warranty. LM was also known to make handles in batches and stockpile them until used up.
"LeathermanTool" PST IIs aren't rare, LM obviously used the PST handles when they first started making PST IIs, later (when the PST hadles ran out ? ) they made specific PST II handles.
Only thing that was missing is the instructions book but I can’t complain since I got it for a unbelievable price!

Added new logo, Hybrid/Vista that I missed, and new Free P2/P4 (pliers based). While Leatherman are positioning Free as completely new, it does follow an evolutionary path started by Wave in 1998, so I've tagged it under this branch.
Looking at the portfolio, any thoughts on what model is next up for discontinuation? Crunch? OHT?
Hello all, for my first post on Leatherman Tools...My MT.o anniversary today...a year sure went by quickly! :salute:
This may well have been done before, however if not, the following Family Tree may be of interest to some forum members. I've split it into inside- and outside-folding tools, and attempted to link related tools. Only the original model launched is shown as it would be too complex to list all variations. Non-folding tools, wearables and knives are not listed.
Kind regards, Max
Alright you updated the list cool thanks man :multi:there is an attachment that was made around the time of the St 200. I think it's the only attachment before a whole bunch of accessories and bits were introduced. I forgot the name of it but I remember how hard it was to put the c-clip in the top. It could swivel 45 degrees and 90. It was a plate that would fit between your jaw when you pull the handles apart, U can squeeze on it and it stays in place. It is a 1/4" adapter/nut driver used primarily for the screws that are closest to the inside of the windshield on a vehicle. You can take a short Phillips/Flat bit and not fall out of the socket.

Tool Adapter. That's the one that was manufactured to fit the super tool at the time that super tool 200 was in the makings.

They were specialty tools for electricians. There really are tools that most eyes have not seen that Tim designed before PST came out.

That looks nice. I think the Freestyle is now discontinued. The Freestyle CX was discontinued back in 2012 or so this Leatherman Wikipedia post states...

PPS. In researching this udate I checked out the LM website and noticed something funny
In the video for the Free P4 (and P2) they use the can-opener traveling the 'wrong way'.
I guess the users in the video were used to the traditional LM can-opener (Wenger style) where you pull the opener towards you to open the can.
However the Free CO is a Vic style CO where you push the CO away from you!! But it looks like they did not realise that!
https://www.leatherman.com/free-p4-585.html
Apologies if this has been pointed out before!
I think it would be okay but someone should keep a copy in case Benner isn't okay with it, I wouldn't assume silence is consent.
Huntsman & SteveC, sad part of the story is that it won't be as "cool" after 2024
True - What a bummer! ;)
I guess a date stamped photo is the best you'll be able to do after that year!! :tu:
Crunch also bit the dustThere is last Crunch sales going on Leatherman site before retirment.
I will try to get these added later :salute:
