Yes! Most have been made with Micarta. There were orange and black Delrin, Nifebrite and Tortoise Acrylic and a Osage Orange that I know of.
-
A few more from the accumulation:
#1 Benchmark Argonaut designed by Blackie Collins.
#2 Benchmark Rolox;another Blackie Collins design.
#3 Al Mar folder with ivory paper Micarta handles.
#4 Frank Centofante tribute knife by CRKT.
-
Another four and there ain't no more.
#1 A double bladed fish knife that can be disassembled for cleaning. The scaler teeth face in opposite directions and the curved area is extremely sharp.
#2 Stamped,"L.J.M." the large fullered double edge blade has rings of Micarta interspersed with aluminum.Came out of a huge collection of militaria and I believe it was a WWII theatre knife.
#3 An unmarked dagger with unusually colored Micarta rings for the handle.
#4 A Kinfolks throwing knife

I think I wouldn't want to have it accidently opening in my pockets :ahhh

I don't think that is as big an issue as having it close while you are working with it. Some time ago I did a post on this knife showing it's deficiencies. The concept was by one of the great knife designers of our time;the late Walter,"Blackie" Collins.
Blackie;along with his brother Michael who was a fantastic scrimshaw artist as well as a custom knifemaker were responsible for many of the innovations on modern production knives. This one;in my opinion was probably the worst design he ever did.
Essentially the way it works is you press down on the serrated button on the top of the knife and that elevates the point.Pushing forward on the button moves the blade to the open position and the point drops locking the blade open.
To close, you depress the lock bar(on the bottom of the handle) and pull up on the blade allowing it to slide to the rear and into the locked close position. It can be a bit awkward to operate until you get the hang of it. It is NOT a one hand opener by any means.
The problem lies in the fact that if you are attempting to do any heavy cutting(such as dismembering heavy cardboard)and putting heavy downward pressure on the handle your small finger rests right on the lock bar and can easily trigger the lock. This results in the blade sliding backward rather handily and trapping the flesh between you thumb and forefinger between the sharp back edge of the blade and the frame.(DO NOT ask how I know this!)
Here are the pictures showing the operating sequence.
The pictures shown are of a wood handled Rolox that I bought new.The Micarta handled version I got in a trade. They were not cheap knives when new;in the 1980's they were about $65 US for this model. They also had a slightly smaller version and ones with stag handles.
-
Aha, so a simple push onto it is not enough to deploy it. It needs a push forward as well :tu:
The un-lock button position is unfortunate though

Is that a sheepsfoot or a hawkbill blade?
Here is a Tom Cute custom.Tom passed away several years ago but he left a small legacy of well made knives.
This is made in the "Loveless Drop Point" pattern.
It has a 3 1/2" blade w/tapered tang and made from mirror polished ATS-34, a favorite steel of Bob Loveless.
It also has a single N/S hilt and Tom used a black linen Micarta material with red liners for the handle.

It is a Gunstock Jack. GEC called this run of their Model 44 a Buffalo Jack because the Northfields had a bullet shield patterned after the 44-77 cartridge popular with bufflao hunters used.

:iagree:
I don't know of another pattern that feels quite as "right" in my hand as the #66. There's something special about the feel of the paper Micarta on this one too. It's warm and very smooth, but not at all slippery. It's a similar feel to Delrin but classier.
The blade profiles are pretty much perfect too, but I'll admit that I'm starting to favor a slimmer profile clip-point blade for EDC.

:iagree: You've awlso got a great MM carry, David! Is that Buck's version of a Hawbaker Special?
It's Bucks version of the 2018 BF knife IMO. It's similar in concept to a Hawbaker but there are several differences with the blades and frame.

Thanks  I don't carry that one too much, the handles are really great and have a nice grip even if wet, But at the same time, those handle slabs can break easy if the knife is dropped. Trying to keep it looking new. The company who made it, sent me that a long time ago to help me out in my work and my travels to certain client sites but again I'm trying keep her looking new like that. Keep an eye on the weather today.. Suppose be some bad storms forming up in Greenville and slightly south of that.. More towards tonight.. slight chance of hail as well.

Some nice ones for Micarta Monday! :tu:
This one has a bit of a story to it. I've probably told it before, but just in case I didn't: I fished it out of the Bay. It came to me very badly bent. My money was refunded, and a knife mechanic offered to see if he could fix it. I took him up on the offer. He said he'd never seen a Camillus 27 with a bail that was mangled so badly. After some straightening, Micarta and a new bail were added. Now it looks and works great.
And I 1,000% intend to acquire more Micarta next year.

Out west? I am east side Michigan.
Mack engine and a Eaton Fuller 18 speed transmission.
A friend who owns a couple Mack s dump trucks, that he has 18 gears for reverse! Is that even a thing?
My cousins, both grew up in Kalamazoo. Oldest works for Eaton assembly and now is in Denver, oversees all maintenance systems for Eaton truck transmissions out west for test units in rigs. Some of the drivers have very specific guarantees regarding downtime if transmission issues.
Is younger brother works for Eaton as well from Utah, but believe he is involved with farm and harvesting transmissions.

Out west?
 I should have specified that I was referring to western states. Most of the Macks I saw when I lived in California were garbage trucks, or doing some other municipal duty.

Case Folding Hunter
Just... Any idea what item number that is?
-
Case Folding Hunter
10265
-
LC is correct; it is 10265.
In case anyone is not aware, it breaks down like this:
10 - G-10 or micarta handle (this series was “black canvas laminate”, i.e. generic micarta)
2 - number of blades
65 - Case pattern number
-
Nate, that is a handsome hunter. I like the blade combination of that design👍
-
Thanks LC.
If one doesn’t mind carrying around the size and weight (6.7 oz on my scale without the sheath), the two four-inch blades offer a lot of cutting capability, while the 5 1/4” handle is comfortable and large enough for all but the very largest hands to get a full grip on.
-
To be a little bit clearer: I could tell the pattern number is 10265. The item number does not appear on the knife, but on the box. It can also be found in for sale listings, such as the link below:
https://www.casexx.com/Details/?ProductCode=30093&Patid=21
The knife in the link is pattern number 6265, but its item number is 30093.
My reasoning is that knowing the item number might help me recognize that particular 10265 if I go looking for one of my own. Hope I cleared that up okay.

The knife in the link is pattern number 6265, but its item number is 30093.
My reasoning is that knowing the item number might help me recognize that particular 10265 if I go looking for one of my own. Hope I cleared that up okay.
D’oh, sorry I was confused.
The number you are looking for is 23131.

^ Luvly wood grain 👍🌹
The Izzie II is a favorite of mine two, handles well as a neck knife on treks and used as a sheath knife attached to preserver vest when kayaking.
It cuts and stays sharp throughout the trip.
PS: I do love your braided cord. Did you weave?
