Seriously though the hardest part of any 30 day challenge for me would be actually taking and posting photos every day for 30 days.
The minimalist concept just isn't for me.

Maybe I'll go find an exec someplace and join you.
:like: Go get em guys! I'm Executive-less :(
I'll just stick with my pseudo-challenge.
Might be fun, I don't carry my exec much these days :D I have to finish the spirit challenge, and then I might join you guys
Looking for volunteers.
...Maybe I'll go find an exec someplace and join you. But I love the 58mm's soooo much!

What do you guys think about a start date of 01 Oct 2017 for this challenge? Nice opening number and it gives some people time to get an Executive. That work for everybody? Might even give Poncho a chance to join in. ;)
I did this very thing a couple years ago on a trip to California. I was concerned about recent knife law changes, and survived almost two weeks and 3,000 road trip miles.Mine is just like that!
Would I do it again? Could be...B-)
Mine is old enough to have a screw in the scissors, and no guide slot for the spring. The spring flips out from under the handle and drives me crazy. If I can put up with that, then I'm in. It would make room for a larger flashlight on my dangler too. Hmm... I wonder what new light I can get.

Could I carry an Executive and/or a Director? My old Executive had a lot of use is almost retirement age.
I'm in Nix! My son is tied up with the Swiss Spirit challenge so he's lending me he his.
...you all (or y'all since I'm in Texas)
This will be a tough challenge for me, since I use the cap lifter a lot, not just for beer but also to pry and scarp. I also don't like to eat Oranges. I guess if it were be easy, it wouldn't be a challenge.
Would you be allowed to carry a mini prybar tool in addition to the Executive? This will be a tough challenge for me, since I use the cap lifter a lot, not just for beer but also to pry and scarp. I also don't like to eat Oranges. I guess if it were be easy, it wouldn't be a challenge.
Yes!
That's why we're calling it the Chuck Yeager Challenge. And clearly you have the requisite test pilot attitude: push the envelope!
Since no one has complained yet. I think we're starting 01 Oct 2017. That gives everyone a chance to get an Executive and get the mental focus necessary for 30 brutal days without that damn useful cap lifter. Easy? This is Swiss Army Knights; 'nuff said. :D
Ah ha! I can dig that....you all (or y'all since I'm in Texas)
I'm no expert here, but I think El Corkscrew insists upon "Y'awl". Word to the wise.

Get it? I can...DIG...that? I'm so clever.

Anybody else feel like jumping in with this group of intrepid souls?
I'm still planning on an 01 October start date, that's this coming Sunday. If you haven't gotten your Executive yet, order, beg, or steal one! This still seems like a daunting challenge to me, but, as they say, "nothing ventured, nothing gained."
I'll start a new thread on 30 Sep (USA date-time), so folks who are ahead of the dateline can kick this off for us. :salute:
Whoa! I never said I'd do it. Ok, I'm carrying a Compact right now and it's more than enough. I might try to take out an Executive instead...

Can I still join?
...
So this is the perfect excuse to get an Ambassador.
...Absolutely. We'd love to have you. We start on October first!...
...Now, it's an Executive challenge. I'm guessing you meant to say 'Executive' in the above quotation...
...But, ideally, you should get your hands on an:(http://www.pic4ever.com/images/banana_smiley_14.gif) Executive (http://www.pic4ever.com/images/banana_smiley_14.gif)

Oops, my bad. That was a typo indeed. And however much I appreciate that I can join with an Ambassador, I just can not pass up this opportunity to get an Ambassador.
Yesterday I was off work a bit earlier than I expected and hurried to the store I saw the Executive. I thought they had a red cellidor, but it turned out to be...

Executive & Handyman
And in black! Which is exactly what I wanted!

So count me in! I'd be happy to join!
Appreciate your support, Yeti.Well, I just spent my play money for a Swiss Champ so I didn't have any left for a Exec. Although I do think it would be quite a challenge to survive on the Exec. for a month. It just doesn't have the tool layout I'm used to.
(a wee bit sad you won't be joining us.)
Btw. since this challenge was posted the price on Amazon went up from $22 to $28!We have a mole!

One of us is working for Amazon. I say we devise an overly elaborate and complicated mousetrap of sorts to ferret out the mole and destroy that rat. What say you? It only takes a few clicks of the mouse. Don't be a scaredy cat.
ROFL!!!! I crack me up! Ha ha!!

Ok, ok. My self-imposed penance for hesitating is to start early. Since it's jeans Friday, the Executive and Olight dangled today. This is evidence that the small blade is up to practical tasks. It expertly liberated the paper flaps from by breakfast box. I'll post to the new, official thread starting Sunday.QuoteBut, because all the voices in my head peer pressured new into it, I guess you got me.

What's involved in the challenge?
Thx. I appreciate the feedback. I'm having major surgery next week, so I'll be out of it for a bit, otherwise I'd be all over this. I've been living with the Executive as my only EDC (Classic on keyring) for a couple decades, at least. What's involved in the challenge?
Pretty straightforward. Carry an Executive as your primary EDC for 30 days. Post a photo of said Executive and a little commentary on how it was used (or not), every day. If you need to use a different tool or knife to complete a task, be sure to include comments about why the Executive couldn't do the task along with your daily post. E.g. "Had to cut-up an extra-large pizza today, so went with a dedicated pizza cutter. Executive worked great in opening the little packages of red pepper flakes though!"
The idea here is to get everybody to see just how much he or she can do with just an Executive. The story is that General Chuck Yeager only carried an Executive. Apparently he used it as his primary knife while out hiking, camping, fishing, test-piloting, etc.... So that's what we're aiming for here. The rules are structured so that some people can earn a Minimalist merit badge as well. Some knights who already have the badge are just joining in for the honor, fame, and glory.
I highly encourage you, Nascar, as a prominent advocate for the Executive to jump in on this challenge and help encourage those of us who are more....Executive challenged. :D
Kick-off is Sunday, 01 October.

As far as posting pics every day, is there an easy way? Photobucket sucks and is a major pain.
