Disaster struck at the Glenfiddich residence :ahhh
Since yesterday I noticed my 58mm Vagabond (a green SwissBianco one) was missing. I looked on the usual places, today I also checked my desk and drawers at work, and when I got home I did a more thourough investigation (checking all the drawers, pockets, washing machine etc). No Vagabond :-\
To make it even worse I only now notice that there is a small hole in my right pocket, where I usually keep it
I think it's time to draw an ugly conclusion: I lost it :poh:
My most used and most favorite little SAK of them all :-\
I can only hope that someone found it on the street or whereever it is, sees it as the so useful little tool that it is, and gets some good use out of it like I did :salute:
And maybe, in a couple of months, signs up at MTo to feed his or her desire in a newly developed hobby ::)
-
Ohh no that's nasty I hate it when nice things get lost :ahhh
-
I can related, had an original Vagabond with Phillips head on the opener, bought new in 1998 and carried every day till it came up missing one summer night in 2015. Revisited each stop and not found. Was sick. Then son found a couple on eBay and was gifted them Christmas 2016.

Oh no! I hope it turns up. I’ve lost a couple Classics over the years, but those are so readily available it’s not a huge deal. I’d be upset if I lost a Vagabond.
-
Oh man, why O why did I at one point decided to detach it from my keyring for convenience, feel so stupid now :twak:
If it really did fall out of my pants pocket the chances of recovering it are as good as none. I'm certain I used it five days ago when preparing a SAK for shipment. After that i'm not sure if and when I used it. And since february 22 I have been to a lot of places. Supermarket, gas station, hardware store, to my work by bike, my daily 30 minute walk outside (always in a different direction) etc etc :poh:
-
This is why I'm in the process of getting extras of my most used SAK's. The thought of not having my Soldier, Pocket tool chest or Swisschamp would be very disheartening.

Yeah, i'll start looking out for a replacement Vagabond soon. Will have to settle for MiniChamp in the mean time.

Bad luck, glen!
No chance it's in the foot well of the car or under your favorite recliner?
I sometimes find a loose 58mm in the cushions of my couch.....

Nope, checked all those places already. But you never know, maybe in the next days of weeks it still pops up somewhere.

Hope so! I once spent like 2 hours driving from place to place, supermarket, bank, bookstore, looking for my S&W Tactical Pen. In the end, I found it under my car seat.
I went from :ahhh :ahhh to :-[ :-[ to  but ended up :D :D

Yeah, will surely ask around tomorrow at work, and take a more thorough look around in our department.

I hope that you find it. :(

My condolences. All I can offer is a candlelight vigil, thoughts and prayers.
I bloody hate it when I lose one of my preciousses.

Nee die niet.
Een paar jaar geleden kwam het eerste complete Bossche woordenboek uit.
Op de dag van verschijnen werd de redacteur gebeld.

I had my SwissChamp scales swapped and engraved at the Warsaw store this morning and he said to not use it or carry it for around a day to let the filling dry and I think I've already had half a dozen mini heart attacks feeling my empty coin pocket.

It's disheartening to lose something that is so important to you. I hope you find it or a replacement soon.

Ouch so sorry to hear that. I have mine usually in the fifth pocket in my jeans with a Victorinox chain attached. With my modded electrician that don't have a keyring, I got it in a beltpouch. I can't stand the idea of losing stuff like that. But as you wrote- hopefully it shines joy in the finders life!

At least you didn't lose it to security--it's a form of legalized theft that has pretty much created a major market--the sale of security-confiscated knives and tools.
I recently had a SOG MicroToolclip (the original Japanese-made model) come unclipped from my jeans and disappear. I looked everywhere, asked one of the neighbors (whose mailbox adjoins ours and is on the same row of mailboxes at the end of state maintenance), and nothing. I suspect it came dislodged when I was loading groceries into the car at the grocery store. The one thing I wished it had was the tight steel clip of the current model, instead of the slick FRN clip on the Japanese model.

Sorry to hear that your Vagabond has gone MIA... Hope it turns out soon... Finding a replacement is possible but the memories made with it can never be replaced...

If you want another one for replacement
I'll keep an eye on it. But maybe i'll just try to find one in a completely different color. Because a new green one will pretent to be an identical replacement to the old one, however for me the new one will never be the same as the old one ::)

My condolences... I lost a Swiss Bianco alox Rambler a few years ago. :ahhh

You know what I just realised?
If I indeed lost it outside, and it's now somewhere on the street, homeless, unattended, derelict... the Vagabond has litterally become a vagabond ::)
I must admit that there is some kind of poetic beauty in that thought

Found it under a suitcase that was standing in a room. The Vagabond must have fallen out of my pocket and either I or the cat probably kicked it under that suitcase.
Glad I found it back

So very sorry to read about your Vagabond. I totally understand, I tried several different "Camper" models to try and replace my most sentimental first SAK and it wasn't the same. I finally have found a new precious replacement in a custom one that was made for me.
***Edit, I just read more of the thread and see that you found it, CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!f So happy for you!

Time to put that Vagabond back on a tether of some sort. My custom SAK is secured with a lanyard.

Right now it's on my keychain again. Learned my lesson, will never let this baby float freely in my pocket again!

Congratulations on finding it! That darn cat...
Now to prevent and reduce any future anxiety, you must purchase a back up, place it where you can remember and check on frequently and you will likely never misplace the first one.
PS: that how I cope!!!

Set aside a few coins every day, then search for s backup in a couple of months.

glad to hear that you found it!
I bought myself a leatherman surge the same way... lost my wave for almost a month. I must have looked like a drug addict searching for a lost stash!
it's the worst feeling. if I leave any of my EDC at home I will leave work to go home an get it because almost every single time I don't have something with me.. is the time that I will need it.
my coworker found it in the ceiling tile, but I had already ordered my surge so it turned out to be a positive thing because now I have both.

So you looked like a drug addict searching for a lost stash, and your LM Wave turned out to be in the ceiling tile?
Hmm..
Now that does look like a place where a drug addict might hide his stash.
I don't know what to think about that :D

lol, in my job as a maintenance manager I am all over the place. it could have been inside walls, on the roof, under someones desk...I work in a building that's over 200,000sq.ft
that's why it took a month to find it. I use it probably a lot more than the average person, it's my main tool and comes out of the sheath at least once an hour.
retracing my steps isn't always an option!
