Partly because I'm an old Eagle Scout; partly because SAKs fit in with the the Boy Scout motto of 'Be Prepared'; Scout knives form a major subset of my collection. I currently have around 80 Scouting SAKs, about half from the US and the others world-wide.
Box 1 contains Victorinox knives for the US.
Box 2 contains 100th Anniversary knives; as well as a half-dozen Canadian, and knives from the UK, Ireland, and Australia.
Box 3 is mainly European SAKs, including a number for Switzerland and Holland, also Norway and Hungary.
-
Scout Knives cont'd.
Box 4 is mainly smaller US SAKs, a mix of national and local knives.
Box 5 is mainly Wengers, including a number for the Philmont Scout Ranch.
Box 6 has a couple of multi-tools, as well as World Jamboree and Asian knives.

That's an amazing collection CS, looks like you might be 'over-prepared', if there could be such a thing...
I have always admired the Scout Law and Motto, but did not go far with the BSA. I had 'God issues' at a fairly young age. ::) Despite that I did decide they were an outstanding set of values to live by. :salute:

As an ex boy scout myself, that is one amazing collection. How long did it take you aquire, what venues have you used to collect?

About 15 years. Ebay was the primary means. Also knife dealers and Scout shops (both online and actual) in the US and overseas.

What is the top most first blue scaled knife in the first box?

Victorinox Helmsman Sea Scout. Believe its currently available, but be careful. Some straight Helmsmans are being listed as Sea Scout versions without the logo..

Excellent collection, and looks well prepared!
-
Excellent collection!
I was a communist young pioneer, but we didn't get anything.
-
Nice collection!
I had been looking for the Wenger 2007 (Ranger and 85mm) models for some time, but they seems to be difficult to find.
-
Very nice collection! where do the 2015 WSJ ones come from? I only saw a Leather,an on the Japanese site.
Basilio- one of the 85mm purple Wengers is still available (the S18): http://www.worldscoutshops.com/world-scout-wenger-s18-knife-c2x10356029

this is such a great collection, ColoSwiss... thanks for sharing!
I carried a Tinker when I was in Scouts (along with a PST), but I always wanted one with the Scout logo on there. I finally got myself one recently, but I had no idea how many variations were out there... wow! :o

All three came off of ebay, from Hong Kong or Japanese dealers.

Well its not a traditional SAK but it is a Wenger and a Scout knife so I think its ok
Forgot to add a SAK for scale but its overall 9.5" with a 5.25" blade so pretty good size for a scout knife :)

Just curious if they all have standard, pointed main blades? Here in the UK, Victorinox sells a special pocket tool for participants in the Duke of Endinburgh's Award (this is separate to Scouting, but can be done through the Scout Association and the age ranges overlap). Apparently because of concerns about safety and knife crime it has a rounded off main blade: http://www.dofeshopping.org/expedition-kit/safety
Edit: Goodness knows what the DoEA guys would think about the knives that jaydar just posted!

The Wenger Scout Junior S10 (one of the purple knives in the 3rd photo) has a blunt blade.

Very cool collection! The two knives I used when I was in Scouts, were a Utica BSA Deluxe and the then - new Vic 111mm Adventurer, without the BoyScout logo. I reckon that (and watching "MacGyver") started me on my obsession with SAKs (probably like most my age, so afflicted! ).

That's awesome!!!
I wonder if Eagle Scouts are common enough to have an MTO merit badge?
(I'm sure other scouting organizations have some sort of equivalent?)
I don't own a scout SAK. But I do have a Scout Case. (Might be a Schrade)
-
As kind of an addition to the Scouting SAKs, here are the Imperial Cub Scout and Boy Scout knives I used when I was in Scouts back in the 1950s and '60s.
Also an old Western sheath knife from the same era (made in Boulder :D )
-
I remember carrying the old Imperials waaaay back. They were good, honest knives. My son, the Boy Scout, collects them.
-
Sweet collection!
AS a former scout (only got to Life rank then found cars and girls...) I really like these knives.
I have an early 90's BSA huntsman (with Philips back side screwdriver) and an 80's(?) BSA Pioneer. No pics of the huntsman right now.
-
I donated a swiss army tinkerer to Mt. Phillips at Philmont. I did buy my bucklite there at the trading post on one of my trips there. Still got it. Nice collection btw!
-
Here are pictures of Boy Scout Of America knives I have owned over the years. The brands are Imperial, Victorinox and Wenger. I was a Wolf Cub Pack leader for a couple of years when my children were small and enjoyed every minute working with the BSA.
-
Here are the rest of my BSA knives.
-
I too was a scout and would have traded my teeth for such a collection back in the days!
-
My only two...both Wengers.
Official BSA and World Scout

I always wanted one, but my Dad was into Buck's while I growing up in Boulder & Estes. I still have my original Ulster Boy Scout knife from the late 60's, but my brother lost my original Buck Woodsman on a camping trip in the late 90's.

Picked up the Western after I moved out to Boulder in 1965. First decent sheath knife I owned. Don't know how it would have compared to a contemporary Buck, but it saw a lot of use on camping and fishing trips, and is still in decent shape.

Here are the rest of my BSA knives.
That Wenger paklock BSA knive is is my current white whale. Bought one new when I made Star and shortly after making Eagle I lost it. Never found another. Amazing collection.

I have that same Western sheath knife. One of the local stores used to have a big display of Western knives when I was growing up, so I have several Western knives that I bought from them, including the W49 Bowie knife, which I used for camping. It was great to use as a draw knife to shave the bark off of poles for making a teepee. We made a teepee big enough for 6 people to sleep in. I was really fond of Western knives. :like:

Awesome collection, I don't remember if I got the wenger from the world jamboree in chili, I do remember buying a 108mm solo there. I'm not sure if I traded any knives but I did trade a full uniform for a full Swiss uniform, however, I think a good chunk of that was lost in hurricane Charlie.

I finally have a Scout knife incoming. I've been trying to find a Boy Scout Yeoman, but haven't been successful.
I found this little Cub Scout knife, so I thought I'd add it to my collection:

Very nice! Family heirloom pocketknives are the best.

:iagree:. I don't often see Girl Scout Emblem knives so its nice to see representation. That is Girl Scouts :)
-
Thanks Myron and Aloha. It is a Girl Scout knife. Girl Scout knives are nowhere near as prevalent as Boy Scout knives. Unfortunately nowadays, most the Girl Scout knives I’ve seen are cheaply made Made in China no names.
That knife has seen a lot of use in, but now usually sits in a drawer because I don’t want to lose it. I still remember when my Dad gave it to me. I had just gotten back from a week at Girl Scout camp where we had to take a pocket knife because part of it was teaching us knife safety and my Dad sent me with one of his. When I went to give him back his knife, he asked me to show him what I was taught. At the end he gave me the knife. That was almost 40years ago.
-
Awww :dd:. What a wonderful memory. If I should see a GS knife at the flea market I'm gettin it. Thank you for sharing that story. :salute: to dad. :salute: to you.

So incredibly cool, Sos24! My kiddo and I spent seven summers in a row at Boy Scout camp, and he has all his SAKs from those years that I gave him. Fantastic memories, and I'm glad you have your own of your dad, too.
Thanks again for sharing your story and well done for hanging on to that treasure. I hope you have someone else to hand it down to someday!
Best,
Myron

I have a niece who will get mine from my Dad some day. She already has a Girl Scout 100th Anniversary knife that I got her. My Mom is now a troop leader and I bought her five to give to different girls in her troop who she thought would appreciate them.

Time to bump this thread and see if MTo members have added any cool scout knives lately. Here are two of my favorite Camillus scout pattern knives. The BSA-issue is an Ulster, but was produced by Camillus. The other is a US-issue Camillus Model 1760. I love the family resemblance. :)
Let's see your scout knives!
