Title: Kitchen Utensil Multitool
Post by: kaput on June 27, 2016, 07:44:51 AM
Anyone remember these tools that have the spoon, fork and butter knife? I haven't seen them for some time (or have overlooked), but I remember them while growing up and camping.

Here's one I saw at a Columbia sports store.

Any other quality brands of these? I was thinking it'd be nice to have around for my kid while out on adventures ;)

I have been on the lookout for a decent hobo knife for a while but all I ever see are the cheapo fall apart Asian or Pakistani crapola.

Maybe good hobo knives have been replaced by all the high tech sporks on the market these days?

Hobo knives are heavy and unhygienic compared to a set of modern camping cutlery, I guess that's some of the reason. Also, a nice hobo knife will be more expensive.

I know both Böker (in their cheapo, made in China, line) and Case still have them in their line-up, though.

Case hobo knife, made in the USA: About USD 90.

Titanium spork: About USD 10.

I suspect that's the answer right there.

There is a Hobo knife thread here - http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,63962.msg1236440.html#msg1236440

Knives of Alaska sells a Titanium Hobo. I believe it may be manufactured by Evernew - http://www.knivesofalaska.com/item.asp?id=108&r=store.asp%3Fc%3D45
