9 whole months... this isn't a baby and we're only 3/4 of the way through. Still, time flies, doesn't it?
More Victorinox knives this month: the iconic 91mm models. I was thinking about doing a "Spartan-only" month but it may get a bit boring and we'll probably see enough Spartans anyway... Also it's better to keep things open so more of you can do the challenge too. There are so many different 91mm knives that this should prove to be a very interesting month if many of you join in :climber:
The challenge is starting tomorrow, Monday the 4th of September, but you're of course welcome to begin until the 10th.
As far as incentives go for joining me in this month's challenge:
- There's a badge for "EDC a different SAK every day for 30 days" which you could get if you don't have it
- If you only carry thin 91mm knives you could get the Minimalist badge
- You could revel in the fact that you're joining me in this historical event that is "the first person to carry a different SAK every day for a whole year" (and document it?)
- I may decide to do a giveaway if multiple people join me this month (you don't have to do the whole month if you can't)
- I will definitely do a giveaway at the end of the year including everyone that joined in during the year (for at least a whole week) in the draw
I'll keep counting the knives towards my year so 241 to 270.
I'll be once more following the guidelines I set out in month #2 (copy-pasted below). (yada yada yada)
- Carrying/using multiple SAKs simultaneously is ok but we're counting the days and not the knives.
- Need to carry at least one "not carried in this challenge yet" knife every day. (if you're not doing the whole year with me, feel free to reset your list after each month)
- Since this will go on for at least a whole year, breaks are allowed but only due to carry restrictions while travelling or because of hospitalization. Just pick up where you left off once you're back.
- Exact duplicates are allowed but not twice in a row. (do not count as exact duplicates: variations in generations/tool evolution, scale & crest - type & shape & color, wear/damage, inlays/engravings and the likes. Basically, as long as we can tell them apart, it's ok to post them twice in a row). Posting a pic of the duplicates together before carrying them is strongly suggested.
For the record, here's the list of topics for the previous 7 months:
- month 1 [misc] (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,75292.0.html)
- month 2 [84/85mm Alox] (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,75698.0.html)
- month 3 [Metal 74mm/Minimalist] (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,76240.0.html)

Come on people, I'm sure some of you can do this :D
Day 241
Victorinox Climber in translucent turquoise scales. (don't know if they have a specific name)
Bit of a sorry state on the scales but I'm hoping the same spa will replace them.

Cool climber :like:
But why don't you try and polish the scales first, instead of replacing them? Might work out ok if they are not cracked or broken...
One thing i stopped doing was replacing my scales promptly at every little blemish. Just cause i can get them easily for very cheap at the moment, doesn't mean i can forever. It's always best to save up on your stash.... :ahhh

I agree on many points but I do keep the old scales unless they're just too destroyed so it's not as bad.
Also there are multiple reasons in this case:
-I can't buy new scales of this colour. The Victorinox repair service will replace unusual scales if you send them a knife with unusual scales IF they have them in stock. I don't know what stocks they have for these scales so I figure the sooner I act the more chances I have.
-I always ask them to return old parts (including scales) when I send knives for repairs so unless they break them upon removal I should get then back
-it probably won't cost me a thing and worst case it's like 5 francs.
-they're both worst than they look in the pic I posted:
(https://image.ibb.co/hACM7z/20180904_115143.jpg) (https://image.ibb.co/hACM7z/20180904_115143.jpg)

But if and when I get them back I'll try to bed them back into share and polish them. They're quite rare I think.

Day 242
Victorinox "unknown" pre-1951. Just a blade and an old can opener. With bail, visible rivets and Victoria tang-stamp. If anyone knows what this is supposed to be called...

Here's another pic of the first one that I forgot I took. Just saw it in my photos so I figured I'd post it too:

So I was setting up the group pic for month 7 (yeah... I've been busy... Didn't get to it before today) and I noticed I had 31 knives for that month. While checking the thread I noticed I did day 203 twice... So my count has been off since then.
-I will skip day 243 to correct the count
-I also noticed that with month 7 being 31 days long, if I also do 31 this month and the next 3 months I'll end up with a round 365 days to complete the full year. So I'll do that.
I had been wondering about what to do with the final 5 days... Do a 13th challenge that's 5 days long? Well my mistake from month 7 is actually perfect for that gap so this month will be knives 242 to 272 to make that 31 days. Months 10, 11 and 12 will also have 31 knives.

Victorinox Spartan - 2014 Damas Limited Edition

To those of you wondering :
- I own 3 of these and can attest that the 3d pattern is identical (one of the first things I checked when I got them :P)
- There's no 3d effect whatsoever on the vic shield nor in the back. They're in fact the only flat spots on the scales.

It saved my day, my phone didn't charge the battery at all and with only 3% remaining the toothpick went on duty....
It helped me to get out all the dust inside the connection and problem solved. :2tu:

Day 251
Victorinox vintage "Camper" / Model 237 - "Armée Suisse" old cap lifter, old school can opener, full awl, 5 twists fluted corkscrew, old woodsaw, old Victorinox & crossbow tang-stamp.
The shield is missing, both blades have been used and sharpened many times... The awl has visibly been reground to shape. Front scale suffered from the typical full awl closing damage. Its still in a very usable condition though and I'm wondering how the woodsaw shape fares against its modern counterpart...

Victorinox Traveler
Brand new and working like a charm I should use that more often... How cool is it to have a working thermometer, barometer and altimeter in your pocket?
Cool !!!
How accurate is it? Did you checked it?
The thermometer is spot-on.
The Barometer seemed accurate if I believe the user manual, also, it takes a couple hours to display something meaningful.
Altimeter seems ok but you have to set it manually... I know the approximate height of Geneva but would have to find a specific location where the altitude is precisely known so I could set it perfect. It seemed to accurately fluctuate from the set value though.

There's a "hot" and a "cold" setting if I remember correctly... Wait... Maybe that's for the barometer? Maybe yours is just messed up a bit?

Day #27
Following inspiration....Syem's recent Master RT acquisition...
Today is with my, another Climber ... I can't live without scissors :D.
Road Tour edition with soft touch scales and blade laser etched. The only curiosity is the presence of a pin hole in the scale.

Very nice! Soft touch scales? A bit like Wengers? Never heard of that either!

Day 272
Victorinox Sportsman - White Christmas Special Edition 2018
The tiny corkscrew screwdriver is white! Also some nice laser etched stars on the blade... Not too fond of the inlaid tree... Maybe it'll grow on me (badum-tss)
Also, today is my last day of month 9... Month 10 will be soldiers :D

Yes... I know this is an 84mm...when I bought it at the Vic store I asked "it's just a Spartan this time? " and they said yes... It's no excuse but I just didn't check or notice and planned on carrying it on the last day..
I noticed it only upon posting the picture as I looked for the exact denomination and saw "sportsman".
Yet another mistake in this month (reading the OP again I noticed just how many i made).
In the end I did carry 30 different 91mm though; This was #31

I was wondering which car should I take for a ride today..... Naked, brand new or an old-classic
Grand Prix

Now you know how I've felt all these lonesome months alone (thabkfully not all of them).
Thanks again for sharing these 2 months with me! Youve shown us some truly great knives, today is no exception and I cant wait to see what you've planned for the last day!
By the way, these refillable lighters are sometimes a bit tricky to fill... Did yoi really have no success at all? Is there gas inside? Can you light it up with an external flame? Is it leaking? I'd be reaply surprised if there's really no way to make it work...

It's incredible what you are doing all these days... Don't give up, I'll be watching you ::) and I'll post my own pictures when possible.
About the Swissflame knife. It was out of gas so I supposed that the gas leaked. I filled partially and the bubble shows the gas inside.
I tried with another lighter but didn't work... I'll need to find an expert on lighters to ask how to fix it.

Day #30
As I did previous month, the last knife is the oldest one.
Today I carried a Woodsman '50s
(Un)fortunately didn't give any use today but it was really special having it in the pocket all day.
